Having grown up with Soul, Disco, Funk, R&B and seen the beginning of Hip Hop; Silk Sonic is what the music industry needs right now. Watching them perform live reminds me of watching The Enchanment, Blue Magic, Confunkshun and every other group who killed it on the Soul Train stage. Oooo, that's a bold statement. Having grown up in the 70s, I'm not so sure. There are some insanely talented and forgotten artists from the soul and funk era. The field was packed and stacked.

Those kinda songs didn't reach the highest charts regardless of their quality. It tells much about not only the amount of the talent & skills of those days but the ferocious competition...

I hate to see that even up to this point people don’t give enough credit to Andy. He is as a part of the duo as Bruno. Bruno always highlights in their interviews how talented Andy is and how he is a pivotal part of this project. Just about everyone sounds the same, look the same, nothing is authentic, and most of it doesn't carry weight. Where are all the GREAT vocalists? Considering your age, your comment is not surprising. Not liking what's being released does not equate to being ignorant. Why do you think SS is receiving so much praise for this album? Because real music and actual vocalists left the building at least 2 decades ago, probably before you were even born, and this project reminds many of us what's been missing. In their place came auto-tune, gimmicks, and manufactured sounds. No one is actually going into the studio and actually writing great songs with meaningful lyrics and actual instruments. Name an act that's out there today that has a rhythm section, horns, orchestras, various instruments, aka "real music", that doesn't come from a computer, or isn't a sample from that "real music." The music industry has been taken over by businessmen and attorneys, and they don't have a clue about how it works. There are no more A&R professionals, no one is teaching them etiquette, no one cares about their public persona. Instead, they grab these people who will provide controversy in order to drive traffic to social media sites, which drives up sales, and none of the publicity they get comes from being actually talented. Call us music gatekeepers all you want, but we came from an era where talent was actually required, and EVERYONE had a different sound, look, and image that made them stand out from one another. Real talent doesn't need autotune, and it definitely doesn't need to sample music made 20 or more years ago. P.S. In case you haven't been paying attention, Bruno and Anderson are a couple of those "music gatekeepers" you speak of. After all, this particular performance takes place on a Soul Train inspired set, complete with the Soul Train Scramble Board, wardrobe, and dancers. They both were fortunate enough to be exposed at a young age to the musical heavyweights from the 70s/Soul Train era. Bootsy Collins, who named the group, and is a featured guest on this ALBUM, is one of them.

Silk Sonic has so nailed the sound, look, and feel of the 70's that I had a flashback to my childhood. This genuinely felt like a Saturday afternoon watching Soul Train. It seemed so authentic that for a few seconds after they finished, I thought Don Cornelius would come walking out. The gut punch when I came back to reality. But those few minutes were nostalgic and beautiful.

This comment might sound strange but when I continue to see a performance like this - and trust me, I have Silk Sonic on repeat since last week and most likely for weeks to come, haha - I actually see it as a sign of respect. Allow me to explain why: because you can tell from looking at these guys just how coordinated they are, how smooth their movements are, and how amazing they sound. And that comes from months and months if not years of dedicated practice. It's because they actually give a hoot (no pun intended) for their fans and give them a performance that makes them feel good! Honestly, I have probably watched Silk Sonic's videos at least a hundred times in the last couple of weeks or so... and each time, I am blown away by the sheer smoothness and talent of their performance. They care about what they put out and that is clearly a sign of love and respect to their fans :) Good job, Silk Sonic, we love you!

Wow these two artists make the best duo ever... Who would had imagine them making so great songs together, bringing back old school R&B. Best I've ever heard in a long time. This is the type of music we should be listening too instead of today's crappy music in the radio and all that none sense. Artists today need to understand music better and instruments should be used to produce real music which to me is true soul.
