- More Hot Chocolate? check out my remix of Every 1's A Winner 1978 Disco Purrfection Version • Hot Chocolate ~ Every ...
When Brit Pop is this good, its really hard to stop wanting more! The I first heard of Hot Chocolate was from the mini-drama weeper "Emma". The stark production with the steady beat and a lot of minor notes evoked the despair of the heroine who only wanted to be a star. Around that time Connie Stevens had done a TV movie "The Sex Symbol" a racy 70's re-visioning of the life of Marilyn Monroe. It was not Grammy material, but I felt sad when Connie Stevens died in the last scene. Haven't seen it since. I have always equated the two, and I was a big fan of "Emma".
Then the band recorded a parable about an interracial relationship called "Brother Louie" which became a #1 UK hit for them, but a cover of that song done by The Stories took the same honors in the US. Bird-dogged once, Errol did not give up and continued to write and then in 1975 put out "You Sexy Thing" which became an instant disco classic. Placing at #3 on the Hot 100 it was released in 1975, but ended up peaking in 1976. Cover upon cover of "You Sexy Thing" have been issued and a remix of the original produced by Ben Liebrand was released in 1987. It has also been featured on soundtracks of the following films; "Reservoir Dogs", "Dude, Where Is My Car", "Legally Blonde", and "Boogie Nights" among other films.
My dad was a a quiet, elegant man and avid gardner. One beautiful Spring day, I pulled into the driveway of my parents house and there he was, on his hand and knees planting little yellow flowers and singing "I believe in Marigolds, you smelly thangs, you smelly thangs, you". Totally out of character for him and I was laughing so hard I nearly drove into a tree. I'm 70 years old now and I still miss him every day. RIP, Pop.
That's good to know !! I am sure he's happy you passed that along to the rest of us. Creative.
❤
Love this! Thank you for sharing… ❤
Oh my gosh, that’s hysterical. 😂 I bet your dad was a hoot! ❤
Oh my goodness 😂 now that line is going to be in my head everytime I play this 😊 my grandma planted so many of them in all her gardens. Thanks for sharing that's a good one he was definitely having a good time that day. You'll be together again some day, tell him there's tons of us singing his song now, because it's a sticker.
Im 70 and love it. Best music ever in the 60s and 70s. Drives my grandkids nuts especially when I crank it up
I like riding in the vehicle with these types of music 🎶.
Ahh the 70s when the music was REAL, not all fake like today. We had real musicians, today's so called singers can't and will never hold a candle to them.
🤡
My Favorite Disco Song!! ❤❤
I'm 13, I collect old VHS Tapes, records, cassettes, etc. I Iove this stuff and the Era of the 50s-70s music/film is awesome. No other kid I've ever met is like me. A damn shame.
Thare are few, I’m one, but I’m 19. For you to like these songs too? One I feel Thares hope in our generation and that thare are others out thare. Lemme guess, your parents are from the eras of the greats and you like their music? That’s how I got my taste

Hang in kid, when I was 14 I bought Jimmy the Cat Smith o the Hammond B! Those who cannot diggit never will.
😅 lol you and my son only
The 1970s where men were from Mars, women from Venus, and drummers were from Pluto...and hot chocolate was ❤
The 1970s was the last decade where just about anything we wanted to do as teenagers, we did. We had good music, places to meet, clothes to buy, cars to drive and mostly cheap gas. The dollar had real purchasing power and I miss the 70s now more than ever. I couldn't get enough of Disco, I played it in my car, bought cassette tapes, 8 track tapes and vinyl records. Now I'm 61, and still listen to the songs made during the Disco era.
Totally agree with you
Yesss. I'm a 70,s baby 😁
Me and you both

Everyone with a radio listen to this and similar music, but it went away. We see bands copying rock bands from the 60s/70s but when someone comes along with a band like this they are going to be huge!
I was dancing on this in '74 and was feeling so sexy! Oh, such great years back then !
I come here each time
I need a WARM SMILE 😊
Super song from the magical mid 70s. Great beat now, all these years later, for dancing modern jive/ceroc and salsa to. The DJs need to discover this and play it!
I used to sing this to my miracle baby...after losing 2 before her. I believe in miracles 🙏🙏🙏
May God bring you comfort and peace !!

I'm 58 and I still like this old tune
Great for the over 60s we jammed it all night long
Played at our wedding, 43 years ago. This is our song!
StilL married with the same woman?
This song does two things to everyone, first it gets you up whether you are home by yourself or out with the ladies and makes you dance. Second, when you first heard it, you sang it for a few days by yourself( don't say you didn't) because it "enters your mind" until you stop saying the words( even if you don't know them all). Now years later, you say , for no apparent reason and hope the wife or kids( grown up now) don't hear you, "I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES, WHERE YOU FROM, YOU SEXY THING." Then it's back to reality !
Catchy song, music, and memories. Love to all and good health to you and your families !
Ahh the memories and the people of this era were remarkable
They just don’t make songs like this anymore! The best days and best music ever
I am crazy about that bass line intro 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
