Very excited about this game, Jamey! I’ve introduced a lot of people to Wingspan, and I love how Wyrmspan is inspired by it while also being a highly original and unique game in its own right.
My husband and I are very excited about this game! We wish we could get it shipped before our cruise on February 4th. We brought wingspan on our last cruise and lil brother knocked over an entire drink on the game. Thankfully due to good quality of the cards and player boards they mostly came out fine. Some minor cardboard issues with the resource tokens and dice tower. However skipping over that slight panic we continued the teach and everyone we showed it to really enjoyed it on the cruise (this was also our first play with our copy as we generally played with our relatives copy). It would be so great to have Wyrmspan to show everyone and play and explore (with no drinks in sight of course) It will be a pleasant surprise when we return home around the 11th of February though. We really enjoyed playing it as a lighter game easier to show friends and family and my husband also enjoy it very much at 2-player. It’s quick and super relaxing and just an enjoyable experience. We can’t wait to get our hands on Wrymspan. I was curious we really enjoy the action selection system in Expeditions, and was wondering is that something that would be perhaps used in more games? The brilliant idea that you’re covering over one option thus leaving two other actions works well and is a fun little puzzle to be try and be as efficient as possible. Seems would be awesome to see more of. Thank you for your videos and work Jamey and everyone at Stonemaier for bringing much joy to my family’s table these past several years.
Thanks for bringing Wingspan on the cruise! If there's anything damaged that we can help replace, please let us know. I'm glad you like the action selection in Expeditions! I like that too, and I'll see if it makes sense for any future games. :)
This game looks so good, I think we'll love it with the kids ! But the card display board seems too big for a table, I don't even know how I'll be able to play with 5. What are the dimensions ? Thanks ;)
One-Stop Co-Op Shop is one of the reviewers that received a "before-release" copy, so I'd anticipate they will have a video out on, or shortly after, January 22nd. Stonemaier also said they will release the solo rulebook before the game launches.
Really looking forward to how out of hand this game will get with expansions, like Wingspan did. Collecting all the Wingspan boxes and playing them in different combinations is my favourite board game experience. One question, is there any plans to bring the game over to digital/mobile? Whilst I have all the physical copies my wife and I play mobile most days at lunch. I'd love to do the same with Wyrmspan.
Here's the schedule posted on our website (stonemaiergames.com/games/wyrmspan/): January 3: announcement and beginning of design diaries January 22: first day for reviewers and content creators to share their thoughts on the game January 31: product launch on the Stonemaier webstore (followed by shipping throughout February from fulfillment centers in the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe) late March: worldwide retail release
Can you excavate one cave completely before having a single dragon in it? Or do you need to do that step by step: Excavate --> Dragon --> excavate --> Dragon ..... ?
You can fully excavate a cave before playing a dragon, if you want and are able to. The example in the rulebook shows the 2nd spot of a cave being activated before the first spot has a dragon in it. The excavation does have an increasing egg cost the deeper you go into a cave, though, so in practice players may find it difficult to gain sufficient eggs without playing some dragons first.
Maldito is listed on the website as their Spanish localization partner, so they would have information on the timing and distribution of Spanish-language versions.
It's a common misconception that the camera is the issue--it isn't. :) It's a 4k camera. The issue in these videos is that I was using StreamYard at 720 instead of 1080. If you look at more recent videos, you'll see the difference.
I might have enjoyed this game on its own, but I love that Wingspan used real birds, so doing the compare, this fails something that I really loved about Wingspan.
@@jameystegmaier I enjoy a diverse collection of games and themes. One thing about Wingspan I am amazed at how well the non fiction fit. So it’s not that the fantasy scares me off it’s that I’ve seen this puzzle of making cards based on birds that impressed me, and now I think, even though it’s maybe not fair, that this developer skipped doing that challenge so something is missing.
@@robertcousins2274 It is definitely a puzzle of design to create bird cards where the theme informs the mechanisms, and it's even more of a puzzle when you're working from scratch. Is it more impressive for an actor to perform a role based on a real person or a fictional person? Both are amazing feats when they pull it off well, and I believe Connie accomplished this goal just as much as Elizabeth did.

Thanks so much for sharing Wingspan with others, and I hope you enjoy Wyrmspan too. :)
Played 5 games of wingspan this morning, only 4 away from 200!!! Wyrmspan looks amazing and it’s definitely gonna get played here!
Thank you for playing so much Wingspan! I hope you enjoy Wyrmspan too. :)

The card display board is just big enough to fit 3 cave cards and 3 dragon cards. :)
A quick question here, any chance there can be any type of game play video of the solo mode? And/or some kind of tutorial for it?
One-Stop Co-Op Shop is one of the reviewers that received a "before-release" copy, so I'd anticipate they will have a video out on, or shortly after, January 22nd. Stonemaier also said they will release the solo rulebook before the game launches.
Indeed, there will be some videos from excellent content creators that show solo gameplay and tutorials. The solo rulebook will be available tomorrow.
Jamey has stated that they are trying to see if Monster Couch is interested in a digital adaptation - the same developer that did the Wingspan app.
We're in talks with Monster Couch (the digital developer of Wingspan Digital) to make a digital version of Wyrmspan. :)
Could the dragon guild board have been a cut out so the guild sits in the track?
It could have! I think it would have been less durable, though, as it would have had a big hole in the middle. But it's a neat idea!
Think there will ever be a digital version?
We'd love to work with Monster Couch (the developer for Wingspan Digital) on Wyrmspan Digital--they have expressed initial interest. :)
Am I correct in thinking that this game is coming out at the end of January?

@@jameystegmaier Why is June announced in France? A mistake ? :)
ua-cam.com/video/-BozsTT3_Ig/v-deo.html
June is the French release. Stonemaier Games is the English-language publisher, so all dates I mentioned are our English release dates.

Definitely! The only requirement for excavating is that the cavern to the left is already excavated.
Will there be a Spanish version when launched? This looks like a game I'd really enjoy with some family members who don't speak as much English as I.
Maldito is listed on the website as their Spanish localization partner, so they would have information on the timing and distribution of Spanish-language versions.
Our partner in Spain, Maldito Games, is indeed making Wyrmspan, though I don't know their release schedule.
@@jameystegmaier alright. Thanks! :)

Do you enjoy any games about alternate realities or elements that suspend reality a little bit?
Are you trying to say dragons aren’t real?!? ;)
@@daniellebackus819 Not the ones in Wyrmspan, but some are! Komodo Dragons, for example. :)
