2k has had the same game engine since nba2k19. If u havent noticed 2k hasnt changed the blueprint of there game since then not only that they literally only cater to the players who aren’t skilled. they also FORCE u to play a certain way which debunks the whole logic of basketball lmaooo

The game can be not good but the dribble system can make it fun. 2k22 had a great dribble system and it made it fun
22 was the last 2k that I genuinely loved even with its flaws. By far the most fun 2k out of any of the “modern” 2ks (21-25)

@@willcfjackson5114 the meta was definitely cheese af. But the mechanics of that game were so much smoother than any 2k of the modern era. You could quick stop, peak, dribble system was easy to pick up/super smooth but still had some depth to it. Myteam was actually good then even as a nms player too. It was a left right game but damn it was fun in comparison to what we have now.
I think if sniper would have never been in that game it would be remembered more fondly. 22 the only 2k since 19 that I’ve put anywhere close to 1000 hours into.

What makes this game super unfun is FUCKING randoms man! Like I’ve lost at least 7-8 games today. We were up 18-14, 18-18, etc and mfs just takes the most contested shots we’ll get the rebound ball goes back to them and they do it again. Like wth it’s not even about winning every game but it’s the mindset. The purpose is to win why do every person you run into gotta make it hard. Wanting to punish you because they can’t fucking shoot is insane to me. Just losing with randoms and my homeboys than gave up on the game so I don’t have a consistent group to run with. Shit is making me rage and I’m like it’s just a game why am I even acting like this but it’s like I’m only on the game for a limit time. I thought that too until I played sparking zero, which is basically BT3 remastered, a game that came out like 20 years ago, and it’s still simply the best anime fighting game ever made. 2k25 is just an objectively bad 2k, and will go down as top 3 worst of all time to the majority of the community (gameplay wise)

This game has made me realize that 2k24 was one of the best 2ks of all time. Yeah 6’6 was the meta but you could also be dominant with so many different builds besides the 6’6 and also there were so many different play styles. You want to be a layup, middy, 3pt hunter, all around, pass only person you could actually make a build according to what you wanted to do out on the court I think it’s a far better game than 25

As a guard mainly and play stage I can speak on this the dribbling is on and off one day u move fast and the other u move slow and not only that there’s only 1 to 2 good dribble styles every year on 2k guards always been limited but not the post scorers 😭😭😭
i kinda like the dribbling with all the hesi and how u can go smoothly from dribbling into a step back it's impossible to do online because of the latency tho the only problem with it is they took off the dribbling launch when u pushing turbo which is completely dumb

19 was fun i had a 6'5 pure playmaker and in 20 i had a 6'5 pure sharp and 6'5 pure lock with 99 rebounding id get like 20 rebounds a game as the pg in rec. ive relied on the nba and pro builds in 24 and 25 used jokic last year and pivot playmaker this year.
I agree there's literally no variety anymore hasn't been since 16/17 and same with dribble moves and jumpshots everyone got the same animations
What I loved about 2k20 was hitting legend and getting the 40 extra badges specifically compared to the others that didn't get them. And I could always VIP someone off the spot and join a game. I'd say that 80% of the time, the guys were excited to play with a legend and the others they were mad that I at the last second kicked their friend off the spot. I loved coming in on a helicopter. And they should allow customizable shirts and let people put on their shirts what they want. Why is everyone so sensitive about something "hateful" or "naughty"?
I was never interested in hitting 3s nor was I a fan of dribbling, but I still enjoyed making a blue/yellow Westbrook build since shooting and defense were a lot more badges dependent and I had as many badges as a nonlegend playshot :)))
I definitely enjoyed parts of 20 as well although I think it’s a VERY overrated game. The rep system and rewards were great though

There was a actual fun grind in MyPlayer and raising your player’s OVR rating and badges were rewarding because one actually had to grind for their specific playstyle

There are a load of short guards in real life that are the most noticeable and overpowered in real life. That's realism for you. There are also those tall post scorers that people run. Meanwhile, no one post score 24 7 in the paint in real life. I have a 6,3 sg build. Funnest build ever. It does everything except standing dunk. The only way to have fun is to make a fun build. I'm having loads of fun. Win or lose.
2k19 was the last 2k I played fr, me and my duo from then been tryna play 25 but it just doesn’t hit the same. We get depressed/frustrated everytime we play it lmao I made my guard have 99 three (I play the game to have fun and I wanted legend shooting badges). I miss in 19 with my pure sharp how I could pull a three and know it’s going in or a very good chance it’s going in now I have to sweat my cheeks off just to get a shot off whether it’s a 2 or a three and have no idea if it’s going in even with majority of my shots being open. Even with my 7’1 center and my teammate playing guard it’s still frustrating. I miss the two archetypes builds you could still be good with pretty much anything. Maybe I’m cheeks at the game but I’m still struggling to make more than 50% of my shots.

I stopped playing 2k for about 8 years from 2k17-2k24 because I didn’t like how unresponsive the gameplay is even offline. Getting caught in animations while trying to react in real time is beyond frustrating and the #1 reason I didn’t play it. I bought a ps5 recently and decided to see if the gameplay had improved at all from 2k16 and it actually got worse in my opinion. So I won’t be playing 2k after 25 and it sucks because I had played every 2k growing up from 2k3 to 2k16. Oh well 😂 🤷♂️

The only way 2K will ever truly be balanced is if they separate MyCareer from MyPark/Rec/Etc. Right now they share the same builder and it fucks the game up. They need two separate builders like MC/MyPark/Rec etc and the 2K Pro League had last year & being back archetypes so that every player isn’t OP & it’s harder to create Metas. Post scorers are ridiculous I have post lockdown on gold and I get drop stepped so much that shit is so annoying.

I always run a 6’4-6’7 SG ON EVERY 2k I play. I do a mix of everything and master nothing. I tried a 6’5 pg once , I didn’t like it

I ain’t gone lie. I was defending these previous 2k titles, but this one right here is by far the worst fun game. MyCareer is my favorite mode but how can I win on HoF when my teammates can’t score, ai can’t miss against me, can’t get a foul but give up endless fouls, Wemby can’t block but get sent to the moon all the time. This game is by far not fun

Part of a problem is a fact that 2k doesn't have any real rival. But league itself is partially guilty of this. They gave 2k exclusive rights and licences, so other devs can't make game with NBA players etc. Of course league did it because they're greedy MFs, same as 2k is. So now consumers (us) are forced to eat same dog sh.t every year, because 2k's strategy is "maximum income with minimum effort". They also reached content creators to drive narrative around game in social media and influence player base. We can say, that current state of toxicity in this community and current state of quality of basketball games in general, are effects of actions made by two greedy companies. What's sad is a fact that big part of consumers/players can't even see that they are force feeded with dog sh.t, they ate long enough to start enjoy how it tastes ...

This community is so terrible that I would rather play bots than to play online with low IQ individuals. I will play this game until GTA 6 comes out. This is officially my last 2k…. I think 🤔

For me, its a few things that makes it unfun for me. I know people wil think that I'm a goof when I say this but the MyCareer isn't as fun as it used to be. I enjoyed playing it whenever I didn't want to go and play with randoms and just want to play against AIs and build up my player that way. Speaking of randoms, the other main things that makes it unfun is the low IQ some randoms have and the predatory tactics on microtransactions. They really make the experience stress inducing and just overall horrible. As for the latter, the fact they put in a battle pass in 2k24 and is the sole reason why next gen games are $70 is just disgusting. I hate that I still have desires to play it because I enjoy the series but its hard to when stuff like this happens. 2k25 is a bastardization of previous 2k titles and the series is just not fun anymore.

@@InfamousText OK hear me out say they did revert back and then we could just go into the park and beat down the black and brown plates….. that actually sounds kind of crazy but anyways beat them down now they’re complaining no matter what direction you shift the game to someone’s going to be complaining and that’s how I look at it. Maybe they should just introduce one game mode that’s outside of the matchmaking or just change park only outside of matchmaking I don’t know, but I know when matchmaking wasn’t a thing in previous 2K. I was getting very horrible teammates. I love it. I think it should stay Bro.
IMO I hate seeing players say they hate shooting NOW cos technically it’s not a shooting issue it’s a defense issue.
Before patch content creators n “comp” players were not playing defense at all cos they knew only 10-20% of players in 2k could shoot. And even if they did play defense the contest wouldn’t register so it was up to fate if a player missed or not… NOW because shooting has been made easier for the Majority, the “comp” and content creators actually have to play defense and their all practically saying “I don’t want to have to play defense and stay on my man”. BUT, because shooting is now easier, but no fix was made to contests, now it seems everyone is just a god like shooter when in reality players were shooting over people since launch it was just only a fewer ppl amongst the 10-20% were doing it, bcos again, contests never registered, and now more players can, ppl are blaming the shooting patch and not 2k for having a trash defense system.
Which is where my question stands, when in this community is a patch becoming a problem? When you’re having fun (not you specifically text) or when other people are having fun that aren’t you? Cos from what I am seeing, a lot of players in the 2k community from the comp scene or content creators side want to be the only ones cooking in the game, they don’t want shooting to be easier for the MAJORITY. They don’t want defense fixed for the MAJORITY. They don’t want steals balanced for the MAJORITY (they want steals to be spammed all around). They want the minority, the competitive side of the game to be the only ones thriving and/or able to utilize any of the basic controls in the game so much to the point it’s not even about skill no more. It’s bout who got better gaming set up, who’s luckier and who’s deeper in 2ks pockets.

I disagree hole heartedly about tall guards being bad, I have a 6’5 with a 99 3pt and 93 driving dunk and I think the dribbling is great, I actually like the taller guard dribble, animations, and jump shots better than the small guards. That’s just tho I guess

In my opinion the game hasn’t been good since 20 it was fun last year towards the end of the game. I feel like the builder decreases the life span of the game because everyone is making the SAME SHIT. they need to go back to the old builder of 19 and 20 where there’s variety and you can be a liability to certain people

2k19 was the last great 2k (imo) because it was a make or break year. Remember 2k17 although we look back at it with nostalgia and realize it was fun that game was not well received at all for multitude of good reasons. Then we got 2k18…..and if the gameplay, park, servers, didn’t destroy that game enough Fortnite took all of 2k’s player base. Those 2 back to back years or mid and trash made 2k19 literally a championship or bust situation which lead them to try and make it fun, great as possible.
Until they are put in a situation to make it better they won’t. I just choose to enjoy the game for what it is
