Karina Virtej you can! The original uses the 2 black 6s and the two black 7s. Or any black pairs. The problem for me is when you do the elmsley count they’re going to see the first card twice, and it’s fine 99% of the time because nobody is remembering the specific cards. BUT I like the jokers because you can do it nice and slow and there’s no discrepancy. They see exactly what they’re supposed to see. Agree , spidey is what I expect from a mentalist and magician. He is the type of magicians I know. A lot of the current people have way too much pub for who they are or what they do. There is a “kid” who “reveals” “magic” on tik tok and UA-cam and had millions of subs yet you can tell he is teaching them as he learns them. His sleights are horrible his techniques are “young” , I just don’t get it tbh. Not putting him down! Just don’t think of him as a “magician” but spider is absolutely the expectation I hold magicians and mentalists too.
I don't know why I didn't learn this one before now. I really like it. I was having trouble at first missing a detal here there even though I knew the Elmley count and the false throwing the cards. What helped me get it down was practicing with four blue jokers and four red aces. This way I could make sure I was in the right place each time without constantly checking.
Right?... I often get distracted for a second while practicing this then look down go through the motions and confuse myself like... wow how did that get there?!

A note to anyone trying this : in my experience so far, the biggest place where this trick can fall down is when you place the three 'aces' face down. You have to be really fluid and confident in your card handling there to stop them suspecting that the one on the left is actually a planted joker. I practiced it on my kids, and they immediately asked to see the 'ace' on the left because they weren't convinced. And if two kids under 10 can pick it, I definitely need to spend time working on that part of the routine! They were well fooled by the elmesly shuffles though, so at least they did still enjoy the trick! I'm actually considering changing that bit of the routine to do a quick false shuffle to get the order right, reveal the four 'aces' in an elmesly shuffle, then deal them all out, 3 face down. Any thoughts as to whether that would work? I realise it's not ideal since one of the aces will be seen twice, but that's something we have to deal with somehow whatever we do really.
This is a good observation. I do think that the one part where this trick isn’t iron clad is the aces being face down. In a perfect world they wouldn’t be right? But it’s all about confidence. Also remember immediately after placing them your elmsley count the jokers in your hands so they see 4 jokers the aces must be on the table. Also. Kids are a lot harder to fool than adults because they question everything so if you got this passed them; you’re ready! Lol
@@SpideyHypnosis Yes, I think you're right, kids are very questioning and intuitive. Also, it doesn't help that I've been adding magic classes to their home schooling during the virus, so they are wise to some of that kind of card trickery. More so than the average Susan Sausage, I'd say!
It’s exactly an Elmsley count. No difference. Just pause after the first card. Then keep going as usual. So 1 stop 2( secretly a double as you take 1 back) 3 4. The purpose is to make the ace looked like it vanished. You put the ace in your hand then count three cards on top and then the ace which they think is at the bottom is gone. Watch the performance again

Hey There! I would say that most of those statements are very incorrect about me. I'm definitely the opposite of a clear thinker, I'm only detail oriented in magic because it's a must, but outside of that definitely not lol and although I do consider myself friendly I've been told I'm not very approachable, weird. AND as someone who is DEFINITELY NOT a planner or strategist, I have no idea what I would want from my magic career, I roll with the punches, that's why I chose this career, never know what's coming. :)

I have no idea what cold reading system you’re using but I would say it’s the exact opposite of accurate. I have been doing Peter Kane's Jazz Aces since the mid seventies. A great routine as it was. but I think your ideas are a great improvement. A fun thing I like to do is to turn the final packet face up and do an Elmsley count … even though you don't have to … before counting the card out face up on the table. Why? Because it messes with magician's minds when they are sure they have just seen you hide a card with an Elmsley. Nice work on an old standard! I actually market my own version of Peter Kane's Gypsy Curse, another of his great effects. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for showing this but there was a slight discrepancy. When you were showing the aces in your explanation, the corner of the ace was clearly showing as a heart ❤️ so spectator would have seen it was the ace of diamonds.
