As a commenter said on the last Astral song, each song seems to be sung by a different group, and this one seems to be the miners who were involved in the Possum Massacre. It’s interesting to see the lyrics talk about how they oppose what the cult is doing. And this song sounds so good as well.
@@rhymebeat1142 For some reason, reading TCC instantly made me think of Tolarian Community College. You were referring to something else though, right?
The Astral songs are my favorite out of every song and I think it's because of the chords that are created. The grit you get when the notes clash or that are dissonant are so good and the harmonies are amazing. No voices are over powering and everyone is so well balanced. Hearing the power of a choir and there voices is amazing thing to hear. Definitely one of my favorites songs so far.
One of my new favourites. Here for everyone who wants to sing along - Lyrics - _-_-_---------_------ _Work! _Keep working! _Work! _Keep working! _Work! Someone save us! Working, keep on working We're confused by the strange And we're drowning in change They swear "Jubilation" But all we see Is the death of our new creation This pain that we feel Aching within our bones How can this be real? Choking in all this coal Will we see the sun? Shining down brilliant light Work, sleep, work, fight Every day we waste away Just dying on the grind, we're Working just to stay alive The blind leading the blind! Working, always working All these methods are flawed So we're praying to god They swear "Prosecution" But all we see Is industrial revolution There is nothing to do But follow what they say So we're overdue For at least one good day Is this all there is? There is no end in sight Work, sleep, no light We work hard each day ~Only what's it for?~ Keep the dark at bay ~I want something more!~ Compromise is key ~Hear my desperate plea~ -If you want to be free -I just want to be free Every day we waste away As we work day by day Yearning for a simpler past Will we be free at last? There's a place that we have dreamt about A world to build that was our own! _Keep working! Now we're here, trapped inside with no way out Lost deep down, buried in stone _Keep working! Will i die here? Someone help me! Will we die here? Someone help me! I will die here Please god help me! I just want to be free Why? Why, why? Why? Why, why? Why? Why, why? Why, Why~? Why, why? Why? Why, why? Why? Why, why? Someone help us! Working, something's lurking Watching our every move Choosing who to remove They swear "resolution" But we can't fix All the damage that has been done We try to escape But there's nowhere to go We try to change fate Mangled under the stone There's coal on our hands As there is blood on theirs Work, sleep, work, prayer -Every day we waste away -why? Why, why? Why? Why, why? -Just dying on the grind, we're -why? Why, why? Why? -Working just to stay alive -why? Why, why? why? Why, why? -The blind leading the blind! -why? Why, why? Why? Working, feel the smirking Face our own demise As it crushes our lives! Dying for a living And we're trying But life is so unforgiving! The coal on our breath Obscuring our voices Calling for our death Shadowing our choices There's black in their souls As they ignore our cry Work, scream, work, die Working through the stress ~Take back what we've lost~ Maybe it's a test ~But what is the cost?~ Never can complain ~Break free of these chains~ -We must smile through the pain -I can't smile through the pain Every day we waste away As we work day by day Yearning for a simpler past Will we be free at last? It's songs like this that make me so glad to be on a team like LemonLight. Every single piece of this song and video is meticulously put together, every single person doing their absolute best in their own part to create such an incredible product. Kat's incredible art coupled with Mel and J's unique and breathtaking editing work so well together, bringing the entire piece to a stunning and visually extraordinary conclusion. The chorus is unrivalled, and I think people tend to underestimate them until ensemble pieces like this come along and prove the power of so many incredible and necessary voices together. Of course, that's in a massive part thanks to Cello and Winter's mixing and timing, and I do not envy their jobs at all- I only know how long this one took and how many moving pieces they had to fit together by hand. And of course, my fellow lyric writers, bringing out a story from just a line of music that every single person working on this song can follow and continue to create from. You all never cease to amaze me, and I cannot believe this project is so close to being finished. We've come so far, and this video is a testament to that. Now- keep working!
The chorus was amazing as always, Cello, Donna, Mel, and Riley did amazing with the lyrics, Kat did INCREDIBLE with the art, Cello and Winter nailed the mix, and Mel and J did amazing editing. Nice job as always LLP!!!!
A *very grim* reminder and the fact that the shadow on the far left looks less like that of a miner and more like that of the grim reaper doesn't help either. **shudders**
I love this song and the lyrics you chose for it. I'll never claim to face the level of "living to work, dying to live" that these people did, but this is one of my greatest fears. Listening to this helps me fight that fear and turn the work I do into something to be proud of.
So wonderfully done where everyone has done such an excellent job from the singers right down to Katreral's art all edited together into something that everyone should be well proud of.
This looks very sad, as this kinda reminds me of the coal towns forced to do oppressive work in the 19th century. And it kinda echoes what I watched in Red Dead Redemption 2, about coal workers suffering the same fate under Leviticus Cornwall. So depressing. :(
OMG~!!!!! This is just WOW!! THE SONG RLY FEELS!!! Almost 6 min composition OMG!! This could be my favorite!!! Holy shit - u deserve MUCH more credit for this kind of masterpiece!

'Dying, for a living.'
...Goddamn.
I said that before, but I will repeat myself once again: these astral songs are a marvel of art, video editing and harmonies!
Absolutely adore it, these Astral Fish and Harfest musical references are just amazing. I just found my favourite Astral song.

For at least one good day

Mangled under the stone

Face our own demise
As it crushes our lives!
Dying for a living
And we're trying
But life is so unforgiving!
The coal on our breath
Obscuring our voices
Calling for our death
Shadowing our choices
There's black in their souls
As they ignore our cry
Work, scream, work, die
Working through the stress
~Take back what we've lost~
Maybe it's a test
~But what is the cost?~
Never can complain
~Break free of these chains~
-We must smile through the pain
-I can't smile through the pain
Every day we waste away
As we work day by day
Yearning for a simpler past
Will we be free at last?
What if we disappear
Beneath all this?
Will no one know of our names?
_Keep working!
Everything that we fought so hard for
Is lost to the hole in the flames
_Keep working!
Will i die here?
Someone help me!
Will we die here?
Someone help me!
I will die here
Please god help me!
I will never be free

Fun fact: this song is a direct sequel to Work Bitch by Britney Spears. 2007 really hit her hard

Man, the astral tracks are just pure masterpieces. They hit hard.
!!!!! Everything about this song is perfect. The lyrics, the vocal harmonies, the art. Probably gonna be thinking about this one all day.
1:02-1:16 That scene is a grim reminder that a lot of the miners died in the mines beneath Possum Springs.
That was def intentional :)
