the sports thing is called ISAC where idol groups compete in different sports. It is always held on Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and it's kind of another way to promote. Bts hasn't attended since 2017 probably since they didn't really need to promote anymore lol and I've heard that ISAC is actually reeeeeally tiring and difficult for the idols. They're just at the venue for hours, don't really get to eat much at all, and have to do all sorts of training before it's actually held. :(
