This war movie is the real movie with infantry tactics, with humour too.Must it was a movie with suspension of American Japanese but during fire fights ,turnd out to be explant fireghters & admirable. We enjoyed the movie & would like to see more war movies of this type.Thks. from Sri lanka.ex.militery.
When that movie was made, it was also a very belatedly recognition outside the army itself of the great struggle and sacrifice these Bhuddaheads had shown. They had deserved it already while fighting in Europe. They were Americans no matter what their ancestry and despite the hostile treatment they were subjected to by the nation in the initial years of the war.
4:39 Watched an interview of Colonel Young Oak Kim who was an officer in the 100th Infantry. He recalled the unit had a well oiled process of newly assinged officers requesting and getting transferred out of the unit. Many newly assigned officers requested and did get transferred out from the unit because they didn't want to be near the Japanese American soldiers.
When are they going to colorize this movie! My mom an her friends love van Johnson! But when my dad walked by them they say, allan Ladd, Richard Widmark, throw in a little Paul Newman! They cracked me up!
I've got this on a box set I got from Walmart for five bucks 15 years ago. One of the best purchases I ever made
I live up the road from Camp Shelby, Mississippi where they trained. And it’s still there, alive and well.

Great war film. VCI finally put out a decent DVD copy of the film. It also has no copyright, and appears on many box sets, but not as good of quality.

What a legendary example of leadership, apocrophal or otherwise. Short, sweet, 10 second fist fight.
