He got kicked out by his parents I believe or ran away from home and was living rough after the crash. Richard then tried to frame him for Maxine's murder but the police cleared him and he went back to his parents and went back to finish his schooling. He tried to get back with Sarah but she rejected him and then he just disappeared around March 2003. Shame really as he was a decent actor.
