Thank you for taking the time to share this video with all of us. Mine had the exact same problem, would eject the tape then immediately shut off. I followed you step by step and now it works great! Going into my daughter’s room with her collection on vhs tapes!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. At the repair cafe, we sometimes get a VHS VCR, feeling the loader motor rotate after tape has already been loaded is a trick I did not know.
I tried this fix. It seemed to work once then back to powering down after the tape is inserted. When the unit power back up I get a “T” next to “Eject”. Not sure what to try next.
Thank you for your video and I will subscribe. I have the same TV but the VCR part It is not fixable. Is there a way that I can still use the TV part. It turns on but just keeps shutting down.
Hey Steve - love these videos! I emailed a couple weeks ago about amp repairs for my M&K MX-125II, would love to avoid trashing it. Any chance we could setup a repair? Thanks! Charlie.
Hello, do you think you can help me with my VCR Combo CTR Tv, it’s a Philips 14inch (14pv375/07 ) it worked at the start, I was rewinding a tape and then suddenly it turned off. The tape wouldn’t eject and the tv would turn off after a few seconds of being powered on. Then I opened the tv and took it out manually. But now it doesn’t take the tape to begin with and it still powers off. I hope you can help me, thank you.
I just snagged a VT0950N model from 1991. Only 4 bucks so far the VCR wont accept a tape something is blocking it. So hard to find anything on the model i have 😢
I finally got the frame out did everything in the video but it still did not work I think it's the light emitting diode needs to be replaced also when I came back to the next day the vcr doesn't want work anymore I put in a tape nothing any help would be appreciated
Smashing repair :-D A vcr in a dusty t.v, hmm not a nice design but it works :-D And a eht transformer rather close to sensitive low level signals. Well worth your effort :-D Yep mode switches a pain in the ass.

Thank you very much for this video! I have an Emerson unit doing the same thing. I'll tackle this project this weekend.

Great work with the repair. I'm just such a sucker for these TV/VCR combos. Especially the Funai-built ones.
If my memory is right those were some the last TV/VCR combos made and I remember seeing some with manufacturer date around 2003 give or take a year.
That rental play thing is just a setting that the user can change in the menu. It is under "User setup"
I'm getting a "tape loading malfunction" (R) code. Hoping to learn a bit more as I watch this!

Is this particular Funai mechanism your favorite to work on? I see it in most of your videos.

When you perform this service it looks so easy. Not true.
Did you really say "shock face" at 2:41? Am I to understand this is a way of using emoticons in actual spoken language instead of over text? Wow...
