I grew up in homestead Fl. One side of my family were some of the original settlers of key west. Grew up fishing every inch of the keys either wading along the shore. From shore and bridges and by boat back in the 60’s through the early 80’s. It saddens me to see the condition of the keys these days. Some of most favorite fishing was wading in the shallows fishing for jacks and cudas. I can remember diving with jewfish( sorry I refuse to come into the 21st century) the size of small boats. First time I saw one was diving with my father in 1968. I could have easily fit in that fishes mouth. We were spear fishing at the time under a bridge. Brings back a lot of memories. Been living in NC past 38 years.
My mom taught me from little up in the 70s that life is not fair and the good always suffer for the bad. I am 57 now and each decade that rings more and more true.
I sympathize with the trashing of public access… but that’s no reason to kick people off just because they are fishing. Also, does the sheriff have the legal right to enforce fishing laws? Many states restrict that to fish and game officers.
From Gatlinburgs website The City of Gatlinburg operates a Trout Rearing Facility, which is located at Herbert Holt Park, to enable the weekly stocking of fish in Gatlinburg-managed waters. This is the only municipally-owned trout facility in the State of Tennessee. The facility is managed to maintain a trout fishery, specifically rainbow trout. Fish reared at the facility are transported, in loads ranging from 350 to 500 pounds, per stocking, and deposited into the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River every Thursday, which as a result is the only day that fishing is not allowed in Gatlinburg-managed streams and rivers.
Brant think I would have called a locksmith. Think you can pull a part of the door handle off and access a keyhole. A locksmith can make a key for you. Glad it worked out. Keep the videos coming.
If ever in Gatlinburg again, there is a place just outside the city limit below Herbert Holt park, it’s never off limits and all those fish from town drift through there. Places to park and if you don’t go up river beyond the bridge you’re fine. Good luck! I’m actually just now moving to Perdido Key this weekend so I’ll see you out on the water sometime!
Brant, you get to experience what most of us have already had happen. I've been stopped twice in the same day by FWC in the Keys. After searching my boat, twice, they let me go. And the Sheriff's marine unit in Lee County is a whole extra level of harassment. I got passed by a 50 ft cruiser going 30 knots in the intercoastal, and they gave me a ticket for violating a no-wake zone when I was idling. They look for non locals to ticket.
Yes! Do more of these. I love your channel by the way. I love to fish but get to do very little of it. I don’t live in your neck of the woods and it’s so fun to see that area and what fish you have over there on the East Coast. The tornado was incredible, but it can happen where you are so I guess you gotta keep one eye out for them. Carry-on ❤️
Love your videos. The law enforcement/FWC in the keys is like white on rice. I used to love the keys, not anymore. I fished there once, never again. I and 3 family members all FL residents from Jax had just started fishing for the morning from a bridge, we all had our licenses. They hassled us. Not believing that we had NO fish whatsoever. They suspected we were hiding fish in our vehicles, we were not, we had just started. It's too bad, the keys are beautiful, the people are great. The cost and inconvenience and the hassle is not worth it IMO. One more thing, if you get there via homestead, watch out. That is one corrupt town!

You’re absolutely right about people coming down here to the Keys on the weekend and destroying the place. 99% of them from Miami-Dade specifically Homestead or Hialeah. They come down and litter while keeping over the bag, under sized out of season fish. Not to mention how many get caught spearing lobster, undersized of course. I may not be well-known, but here’s a suggestion: your videos could include explanations for why certain activities are prohibited, like why fishing isn’t allowed on certain days. For instance, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, fishing is banned on Thursdays because that’s when the streams are stocked with trout. Gatlinburg operates its own trout farm, and every Thursday, fresh fish are released into the local waters to sustain a healthy population. This practice not only ensures a rewarding experience for anglers but also helps preserve the ecosystem and the area’s reputation as a top fishing destination.
On your first fishing in the Florida Keys. The cop on the boat is Nelson Sanchez. He's good guy easy going. I personally know him. I retired from the Monroe county Sheriff's office
No he's not a good guy if he's out harassing people legally fishing. Brant paid for that license and he shouldn't have to lose his rights because of others. Tell the good guy Sanchez to do some actual police work and hide with some binoculars and catch the ones actually littering and doing drugs.
@@mikecampingforfun5226 So he made him move on and he wasn't allowed to fish there anymore, correct? My point was the Brant follows the law and the officer should not punish him and others who don't litter or do drugs.

Yup people are destroying the keys they have closed many of the bridges cause of how nasty people are but on my part when I take the kids fishing we pick up all the trash we fish around before we cast in people keep it clean for our future fisherman aka our kids 😊
That survival incident was all your fault. Not keeping your keys and phone on your person was ridiculous. Especially on a rental car you don't know. Glad you met with a nice person to help you out. Great stories.
Getting stuck in the Everglades overnight is one of the worst things I’ve been through so far. Part of me was like “if I rip off all my skin mosquitos can’t bite my skin.” That’s not logical but logical doesn’t apply when getting swarmed like that.
The kindness of strangers is everywhere. However, the same can't be said of this car rental agency. When they tell you they'll be there in an hour, then that should be that.
The first thing I do when a I purchase a new-to-me used vehicle is stash a spare key in a magnetic box in a hidden spot on the frame. Saved me only one time, so far, but there is always tomorrow.
Taxation by citation and policing for profit should be illegal and all corrupt officials should be held accountable!!

Tell the sherif to pack sand. He's not a fish and wildlife agent. He can't tell you to do anything. Plus, it's not posted.
Sherrifs cant enforce that
If you called pop-a-lock moble lock smith they would have been there in under an hr,or a similar type company😮
When you're catching and THEY are not...that's when they always come up and complain. As if you took their fish...lol
Dude that’s hilarious. Of course you would be fishing there on Thursday. 🤣🤣
What's the point of the no fishing on Thursday. Any idea?!
@ no clue 🤷🏽♂️
Is that a toadfish rod you’re using on the pier ?
No fishing on Thursday lol. That's hilarious.
Well here in Washington you can only take shrimp and crab on certain days. It's the law, obey it. They do check you when you come back to the dock.
It's the day they stock the river
Since when can the sheriff's enforce fish laws?? If f and w did say nothing your good dude?
That's why I stopped fishing. It isn't worth the trouble anymore. You have to be a lawyer and have way more patience with people than the fish.
Fishing should be relaxing. Why people gotta come along and mess with you.
they've never been punched
7 hours locked out in the Heat that's a memory I wouldn't want to remember!
Freaking awesome video very entertaining thanks for the hard work
Yup people are destroying the keys they have closed many of the bridges cause of how nasty people are but on my part when I take the kids fishing we pick up all the trash we fish around before we cast in people keep it clean for our future fisherman aka our kids 😊
That survival incident was all your fault. Not keeping your keys and phone on your person was ridiculous. Especially on a rental car you don't know. Glad you met with a nice person to help you out. Great stories.
Yeah ok Debbie Downer
Good thing we have you in this big ol nasty narcissist nasty world to keep us all informed of our mistakes Mr. Never Made One
FREAKING AWESOME FISHING
Law enforcement always show up when you never need them where were they when you were stranded 😂😂😂
Getting stuck in the Everglades overnight is one of the worst things I’ve been through so far. Part of me was like “if I rip off all my skin mosquitos can’t bite my skin.” That’s not logical but logical doesn’t apply when getting swarmed like that.
Those foreigners always down to help you land.... especially if they see your releasing cuz then they know you'll let em keep it
We love Brant in Belize.
Got marine biology, fishing, storm chasing and in one video
Part 2 would be great and fun.. we all get into situations but really “do”..
I have fished the same spot in Gatlinburg but only caught very small ones on Friday lol
The kindness of strangers is everywhere. However, the same can't be said of this car rental agency. When they tell you they'll be there in an hour, then that should be that.
Nothing like going fishing to relax and getting hassled by the authorities sometimes more than once.
Loved the content 😂
Unless it said no trespassing sounds like sheriff did not have a case.
I must be a big fan because I remembered everyone of the incidents from their original episodes.
I wish people would clean up after themselves. It messes things up for the rest of us.
So how are you supposed to remove the hook if it is illegal to bring the grouper onto the pier without an additional license?
Ask sheriff what is the statute and where is the signs? No signs, no notice.
The first thing I do when a I purchase a new-to-me used vehicle is stash a spare key in a magnetic box in a hidden spot on the frame. Saved me only one time, so far, but there is always tomorrow.
Your right, specially tourist getting parking tickets they’ll probably just pay them
11:00 Sounds like a class action law suit waiting to happen to me.
Did they change the sign to No fishing on Fridays the next morning?
Definitely do more of these
The law enforcement probably shouldn't be blaming fishermen for making a mess,we usually take care of the places we fish....🙏🙏
Years ago I fished under that same bridge in Gatlinburg. A couple of trout. Let go.
