This is my hometown. Thank you for doing justice to its fairy-lit winter wonderland. You have great videography skills. For those interested in history, a few fun facts. The church at the start is the oldest in Canada, dating to 1620. It is called Notre-Dame-des-Victoires to commemorate two victories to repel British invasions. It is built on the foundation of Samuel de Champlain second Habitation, built in 1608. Both of Champlain's forts were burned down by the British (are you beginning to see a pattern?) Then we see the National Assembly (Quebec's Parliament.) Beyond begins Battlefield Park on the Plains of Abraham where the fate of North America was decided in a bloody battle in 1759--actually I'm pretty sure the anniversary is today, 238 years ago. To mark the anniversary, when I was on my daily walk on the battlefield I was stung by a wasp--which also means White Anglo Saxon Protestant, WASP-in other words, a Brit. "Quebec" in the language of the local First Nations means "place where the river narrows." As you head towards the Atlantic, the river rapidly becomes so wide you can't see the other side. Heading west, shipping continues all the way inland past Montreal through the Great Lakes all the way to the far end of Lake Superior. Finally, the picturesque street we see at the end is the oldest street in North America, called Le Petit Champlain. My mother's cousin, Gerry Paris, renovated and preserved the old buildings and transformed the neighborhood into an artist's coop. What a cool move to speed into a mural of Santa. It's too soon, but 2021 has scarcely been better than 2020 and I'm ready for it to be over. So Merry Christmas!
@@xo7454 This absolutely beautiful town is more walkable than driveable. The streets are old, very narrow, hilly and curvy. The best hotel in the middle of all action is Le Chateau Frontenac, a gorgeous, historic, huge hotel. It’s pretty pricey, but definitely worth it. There are many, interesting hotels in town, they call Auberge, just search for them. The food is excellent with many, wonderful restaurants.
We were there last week. Quebec is really beautiful. Those streets look like those that you see in fairy tales. I wish I could spend Christmas there to see its magic.
Thank you for this, I travel to Quebec city for the holidays every year. Being from the "Boston States" that was not possible this year. At least I could see my favorite place.
Indeed it looks so romantic but extremely quiet without people. I was there during the Fall of 2019 but, would like to return during Christmas time to see the majesty of their Christmas lights. Hopefully Christmas 2021.
Beautiful city any time of day or year. I can tell.you this, if I lived there, I would not be featuring snowflake design decorations. For sure. Pretty video.
