Always been one of my favorites. My dad was 79 when he passed In 2017, so many memories watching this, Kelly’s heroes, Guns of Navarone, Great Escape and I could go on for days with titles….I’ll be 31 this week and am very grateful to have had a great father who introduced me to so many classic war films at a young age. This one is one of my favorites because it’s a big ”who done it” type film.
@@phillipbrown2318 same….so many Roy Rogers/Gabby Hayes films and old serials like “The Black whip” we used to watch….can’t get cinema or television like that anymore.
I watched this movie with my Dad at Anand Theatre, Chnennai. Dad is no more but even at the age of 60 i am thankful to my Dad for having taken me to so many war movies when i was a kid.. So many memories Dad...
I've been watching this video for about 30 years now and it's still one of the best. Especially the actors who portray the Germans. I can say after 3 decades in Germany, so authentic, especially the faces.
My favourite film of all time. When I first saw Clint abseil from the window I HAD to learn how to do that! So I did many years later....I reckon I've watched Where Eagles Dare at least 100 times over my lifetime & will never tire of it. The memories of going to "The Pictures" with my Dad to see this when it was first released will stay with me forever....
My favorite movie. As a matter of fact this was the first movie that I ever sat in cinema back way back and since then I have been fascinated by WW2 history.
My gran and grandad introduced me to this movie early 2000s and it’s in my top 5 movies I’ve ever seen just an absolute classic movie one to watch on a cold winters afternoon with some hot warm food ❤
This specific motion picture is the grandaddy of all the WWII movies. I’m aware it is strictly fictional, and that no such events occurred, or remotely close. But the actors/actresses, the plot, the special effects, the epic length, all contributed to an unforgettable movie. The book, however, is actually a short novel. I recommend “Where Eagles Dare” anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
As a kid, I was afraid seeing all of the Germans converging on two guys trapped inside a castle, especially when every time one was cut down, another German soldier immediately took his place without even a second of hesitation. As an adult, I wonder if Danny Boy would still have provided transport for the team if Broadsword didn't "have it all."
The poor Germans. I always admired the one German soldier in the longcoat (2:59) who managed to duck behind cover and avoid getting killed during the entire action sequence right up to and past the Germans clearing the radio room with grenades (6:05+). Always wanted to award the guy an Iron Cross second class for having survived a firefight with Clint Eastwood!
Great movie and even greater actors - legendary in fact. That said, what puzzles me is how these clips don't fall foul of UA-cam's copyright infringement rules.
Because it’s Warner themselves uploading it. Also, you can upload clips without getting into any bother, you just can’t monetise them. It’s a fair system. Copyright strike abuse on the part of big companies isn’t. That happens far too often now.
Only recently after multiple viewings managed to understand the plot. The scene in the dining room is crucial! It's all explained there! PS Derren Nesbit totally nailed the role of the Gestapo Officer!
Great movie. Adding “castle” to Schloss Adler is redundant. Nobody says “Castle Adler Castle.” Burton was completely pickled during the filming. That’s why he seems to be having so much fun in one scene but is stone faced in another. Eastwood couldn’t believe Burton’s capacity for vodka.
Did anyone notice when the first grenade is thrown at Eastwood the handle comes off but when he throws it back the handle is attached again. I have seen this great move hundreds of times and watching this clip is the first time I noticed it.

Based on v.famous novel by veteran author Alistair Maclea this film was made.Incidentally based on Alistair MacLean's novels blockbuster films like Guns of Navrone, Force Ten from Navrone(based on WW2), San Andreas etc.were made.

Yup they were great war movies back in the day and still are today
in my humble opinion.
My Father loved war films westerns and Comedies He introduced me to these types of movies too.😊

When the world was beautiful, in the XX century.
THEY DONT MAKE MOVIES LIKE THIS ANY MORE.
One of the best war movies ever. Great actors. Never tired of seeing it.
I'm the same, it never seems to age and, improbable though it is, I can watch it again and again.
Gunny Highway may disagree
@@thapainter11 Who?
@@nigelpower1509 Clint Eastwood's character in Heartbreak Ridge.
Agree😊

Fantastic film. One of those you never, ever tire of watching. One of Burton's greatest performances.
Easily one of the Greatest WW2/SPY movie ever made...A true timeless classic, they don't make them like this anymore

My absolute favorite!! Never get tired of watching it!!!!
como e o nome do filme quero ver
I saw with my dad when i was a kid
Dad is no more
Love ❤️ u dad for looking over me from time to time
Same here. This movie made my time in Germany bearable. Especially every Christmas.
One of my all time favorite war movies. I've seen it at least a hundred times and its just as exciting as the first.
One of the GREATEST War movies ever made 🤙🏼
This will be the greatest war movie for generations to come. Superb music, cast, and a fantastic story.
Great, if a bit lengthy, movie--Lots of action, and Eastwood and Burton are in top form
Fantastic movie, amazing action, great acting, and so much live action demolition and explosives. This and The Dirty Dozen are my two favorites.
My classic favorite! Must have watched it about 25 times till now. And I'm gonna keep watching. 🎉❤

Great
Where Medal of Honor got their inspiration from and the first Call of Duty. Absolutely classic.
Absolutely LOVE this movie! I got to visit Hohenwerfen (Schloss Adler in the movie) in Austria this summer and it was an unforgettable experience!
IMHO, the greatest WW2 movie!
Yes, The best war movie ever made. I must have watched it twenty times and still never tire of seeing it again.
Von Ryan's express beats them all
Once again, thank you.
I watch this film repeatedly as its one of the finest ever with superb acting from two of the greatest, 🎉Burton and Eastwood
Any movie clint has made pure classic spaghetti westerns the best
Geez, no different to my place 7 am Sunday morning.
Great clip.
Top notch actors in a top notch film.
One of the best war films ever made
Yes one of the best war movie. Watched it so many times❤
Great clip, and one of my favourite war movies. They don't make them like that, with the human drama, anymore.
This film isn't GWTW, but it does have great scenery and action. Burton and Eastwood do a fine job as well.
My favorite movie. As a matter of fact this was the first movie that I ever sat in cinema back way back and since then I have been fascinated by WW2 history.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein had to be inspired by this class ❤
oh yes
Richard Burton in his British accent: “Broadsword calling Danny Boy”….classic line
I believe this was Eastwoods best picture. Firing two machine guns at the same time is amazing because of the recoil. That Castle really does exist.
I watched this a couple of nights ago it suprised me how good it is ❤
tremendous movie with great ending...only Guns of Navarrone compare
I always liked the authentic static-y radio signal fading in and out. AM baby.
I watched this on New Year's day in 1970 with my brother and parents when I was 9.
Would love to have this movie in 4k!!!
I’ve seen it 50 times. Never gets old
If Clint Eastwood plays, every film is excellent
That dual-wield at 4:09 was amazing!
i have the dvd ..... excellent movie ❤
great 👍 movie 🎬

With the exception of the american helicopter , it was a brilliant movie.

Those German army mountaintroops used a green color in their collar tab.
Epic movie of war...one of the finest ever produced move by Hollywood 😊

This movie was a chess game, and Burton's character was 7 moves ahead in every scene.

lol it does look like the handle comes off on normal speed, but if you slow it right down on slow motion you can clearly see it doesnt
@@robertpallett3799 Your right, I looked again I was mistaking one of the spent clips on the floor for the handle, good spot.
Broadsword calling Danny Boy!
Come in Broadsword
All sins forgiven.
Burton sounds EXACTLY like James Cagney when he is saying it, exactly
Eastwood is so cool
Top ten movie.
"We have it....we have it all." How on earth does Admiral Roland start informal talk like - all sins forgiven in the middle of a fight and rescue?!
It's all code
Love this movie! Radioroom is the toilet if you visit the schloss werfen. But was recorded in a studio in England.
Rowdy Yates. Same guy in everything he has ever done

@03:00 good thing none of the Germans or their officer thought to throw a grenade toward Clint...
A film based on a true story, full of techno inaccuracies, but who cares - ?
One of the best films of the era and unchallenged - ! 😅
Superb!!
Outstanding film and cast
Burton is Shakespeareian in the banquet scene.
Just a classic
Very good movie

Biggest missed chanse in history a warmovie starring Eastwood and Connery
Major Smith: Halt!
It's funny, in the book nobody gets shot.
1:29 & earlier: He didn't heed Tuco's advice - "If you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk."
Eastwood looked so youthful for so long. He's only 4½ years younger than Burton. And at 37, way too old to be the lieutenant he's playing.
