I got scammed once, also the most expensive vehicle I bought. The cummins I bought would only start with starting fluid. Can't believe that was an acceptable way to put as runs/drives as I bought countless non running vehicles that ran with just hooking the battery back up! They would take the effort to pull the intake tube to spray fluid to start but not two seconds to put on a battery cable. I honestly high recommend the average person avoid salvage auctions. They have things done so well lawyer wise that you'll never win a fight with them.
It takes people YEARS to learn these tips and tricks. You’re the MVP for sharing! I feel indifferent about copart allowing this stuff. I’m ok with them rerunning the car but Copart should show the auction history right on the front page. They would make less money. So that’s out 😅.
You title the car in a state that allows salvage title cars without rebranding, then you register it in another state. The first state will wash the title to clean. Look up TITLE WASHING.
Thanks brother 🙏🏿for this video ., I have a problem in copart with a Jetski in the pictures everything was together I get to the lot and they bring me the Jetski was parts broke and pieces all over the jetski I went to the office and complained after 30 minute the manager told me he can’t helping out, I just let with the jet ski because I need to drive 3hr back home, I buy from Copart we not problems before this was my first time in this situation.
You hit the nail on everything expect the title in one state and the car in another state . I have a 2021 g80 M3 that was recently rear ended and insurance totaled it out before I bought it back at auction & this happened in New York but my car was registered out in South Dakota
Another indicator for these is that the seller is NOT an insurance company. The seller field is usually blank. COPART could easily have a flag for a dealer or private party sale but they don’t wanna tank the sale
Thank you I almost got sucked in myself on a Ford 2011Escape Limited in Graham Wa for buy it now like 700 dollars. Looked like a 90K used car in good shape but Texas salvage title and sat on it a week and it then was 650 buy it now and sold. Bet it was cleaned up and re sold but something went wrong. I had that un easy feeling so ran myself but its easy to get sucked in.
I didn't even know you had your own channel! Came up on recommend watch list. Either I'm a total idiot or you need to tell the scrap life garage community more you have your own content! Either way I'm subscribed now! I love both your content and Lee's content. UA-cam gold!
I just saw this happen with a 2018 Toyota coma I searched at epic vin and they showed a picture of it that I thought that's not the same truck. when I zoomed in on it it was the same truck and it looked like it been hit by a roadside bomb before. It almost looks like the guy gave up on putting it back together and tried to sell it off. For sale from a dealership on Copart but off site where you can't go inspect it.
I saw a Charger hellcat recently with a v6 in it. I wouldn’t necessarily say don’t buy in this auctions, but know the basics like this video is saying. There are many people doing this for a quick return on their investment.
Thank you for this information that you shared with us.. In this time there are many people who do this thing in order to gain income from illegal money .. In fact, they don't . care, Thank you so much ones again ❤
I buy my cars from IAAI & prefer IAAI & only buy insurance totaled vehicles I once bought an IS 300 Lexus from Copart pre COVID twas a good deal. $1000 out the door for a slightly hood, fender & roof damage & the car had only 180K miles & clean. That was the last car I bought from Copart after I tried buying another Lexus IS 300 with 150K miles I went & looked at the car in person & found details of the previous owner in the glove box I called the owner because the car looked like someone Doctored the hell out of it & he told me a truck rammed into him from the front & the damage was significant he even sent me images of the damage & oh my I'm glad I listened to my instinct the car was pretty much a parts car. There are some good cars @Copart I just wish they had car running videos & note if the car is from an insurance company sometimes they do that sometimes they don't.
Having spent 50 years at trade auctions and occasionally crash auctions you can be burnt. Someone will buy a wreck as non goer,, usually knowing the car then all the good mechanicals will be swapped for worn out ones so you buy a crashed car with worn out mechanicals. Or base model ones in the case of this Challenger. Hail/ flood damage cars get moved around the country very often. Very often look good and run. Get them back and they stop running, modern cars are terrible with all the electronics when they get wet. Parts car is all they are. I have never bought one but seen numerous examples. Bad rebuilds too get put through both trade and public auctions. Even the Govt have done this!!
Didn’t copart use to display the sellers info? I remember looking for a car on their website a couple of years ago and remember seeing cars that had insurance companies listed as the sellers.
I hit a Boulder in the road last night along with 3 other cars and copart wants to assess it today for insurance. I want my car. They want my car. What do I do? My airbags deployed but with a reset my prius is drivable again but the Boulder hit the sub frame.
Copart is where all the cars that have been deemed non repairable at body shops by insurance due to repairs being more than what the vehicle is worth. When I say repair I mean an insurance quality repair not a hack job. Example a frame rail thats cracked and its straightened and welded instead of replaced.
UA-camrs 23rd garage and Vtuned have had copart scam vehicles they rebuilt for people who were scammed. They both do great jobs rebuilding wrecked vehicles.
Never assume anything except that you're being lied to. Start each purchase at 0% faith and go from there. Have a checklist and follow it. Don't proceed if there's major issues - especially with title. If you can't see/touch/inspect/test yourself or have someone you trust do it, then definitely avoid unless there's a money back guarantee or something. Follow this advice and you won't get conned.
Texas is indeed. Dallas and Houston are both pretty bad for it. Really, any BIG major city has scammers. New York, Miami, Chicago, LA, Atlanta are all big spots.
You will see a lot of rerun honda crv,s you have to look close but always something off . I think the value is so high and many will go to anther country so no one will look it over in person. I saw one the frame rail so crushed the redrilled mortor mount holes so all looked good in pics ,it wasnt
Can we talk about how Copart allows international/foreign bidders to participate in these online vehicle auctions? I'm not sure what someone in Ghana would want with a 14 year old Ford Explorer? The transport, import fees, and tariffs surely must cost more than the vehicle is worth. Nonetheless, I see bids coming in from Kazakhstan, Mumbai, UAE. I could understand if it was a rare/exotic vehicle like a McLaren or Ferarri. But..a Ford Explorer?? A Dodge Durango?!!? How does someone in a third world country even acquire a vehicle they purchased from a Copart auction yard on United States soil?? Because, I could be wrong, but I didn't see an option to select a cargo plane or ship as a means of vehicle transport. As if competition with the locals and car flippers in this geographical area was not enough, I now have to compete with an Arab oil baron halfway across the globe?!? You fucking kidding me? Or, are these international bids actually just Copart employees masquerading as someone from another country in an attempt to artificially inflate the final sale price of the vehicle(s)? Either way...not a good look, Copart. Extremely disgusted and disappointed by this once American company. Just another tale of greed and corruption.
Funny they sent that car to New York, If a New York Resident were to buy it, Fix it, And hope to put it on the Road. They would play hell getting a New York Title, they will not accept Salvage Titles from another State
I would love to know about their shady practices. What's got me fuming right now is this international/foreign bidding shit that they allow. The first mistake someone makes when buying a car from Copart or IAA is thinking they have a SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL to actually win one of these auctions. Unless, of course, someone wants to pay as much for a salvaged vehicle as they would that same used, undamaged vehicle? There is obvious evidence of "Shill Bidding" in these auctions, artificially driving up the final price of these vehicles when they're sold. Why someone in Ghana would want to buy a completely totalled 2014 Toyota Tacoma is beyond my comprehension. The fact that these companies even allow International bidding is complete and utter nonsense. I need a part for my Honda. I think I'll look for it at an auction yard in Saudia Arabia, even though I live in the USA. Makes so much sense, right? Oh, and don't get me started on how Copart likes to relist, or "reassign", vehicles for sale after the live auction has ended and the highest bidder has already won the vehicle. Then, Copart will send an email to the winning bidder, and all previous bidders, saying: "We're Sorry, This Lot Has Been Reassigned and All Previous Bids Have Been Canceled. The Lot(vehicle) Will Be Reauctioned Starting At The Previous Highest Bid." Despite the fact that the vehicle was listed as a "Pure Sale" in which the vehicle gets sold to the highest bidder regardless of the final price, there is no "reserve" price to be met. Yet another way of them fucking people over when the vehicle doesn't sell for the amount they(Copart), or the insurance company, wanted. Fucking scam. Don't waste your time or money here at these auctions. You are buying someone else's problem.
We all know salvage yard copart buying is a crap shoot. Pay to play. Dont play if you cant pay. I watch guys rebuilding those mopars like it aint nothing. Then sell it for top value.
GREAT ADVICE!!! I’m no, “Gear Head”, still, I’m going to give this CoPart Auction a go. I’m 💯 going to lose my ass😂 STAND BY!!! Maybe I’ll get lucky😎🤘 If I do, it’s because people like you educate us, “Bone Heads”.😂😂

Stories like this always suck to hear. We have been burned once or twice too. Unfortunately, it takes bumps along the way to really learn.
@@scraplifedalt I also scored some great deals over the years... but only takes that one to ruin it.
Just don’t buy nothing from Copart smh
It takes people YEARS to learn these tips and tricks. You’re the MVP for sharing! I feel indifferent about copart allowing this stuff. I’m ok with them rerunning the car but Copart should show the auction history right on the front page. They would make less money. So that’s out 😅.
It's time that Copart is held accountable for allowing this. Thanks for the tips!
Copart is aware of these scammers but allows this to happen. They should have some liability through their state dealer licensing.
also problem when parts from cars are stolen or they damage the car with the forks they should also be liable to pay up
Just don’t buy nothing from copart
Can you spend some time talking about the loop hole to rebrand a certificate of destruction car? I think that would be interesting hear all about.
You title the car in a state that allows salvage title cars without rebranding, then you register it in another state. The first state will wash the title to clean. Look up TITLE WASHING.
How is that not been a class action for the HUGE damage cover up and scabbed together operation after they come from IAAI?
6:40 SnowBIRDS not bunnies😂😂😂

@@bcab7955 I choked on my dinner with that one😂
I was just scrolling on Copart and saw that white Porsche with the red wheels I said to my self I’ve seen this car on here before lol

It’s sitting out in the parking lot. Been thinking about working on it again actually
Excellent video, many thanks for your research,it shouldn't be allowed, that's why you should always see the car in person.
