      The seats feel even better than they look. Basically, they are slightly more comfortable than the average seat you find in the higher Compact segment.

    The hybrid system has already beaten other small cars. You could choose Honda Jazz or Toyota Yaris for other hybrid options, but this clio has 140hp and a much nicer design. It also comes with 5 years warranty (didn't expect a French car brand would do so).

      I would agree with that Hinson as I have the hybrid myself. My only gripe is that,for me, the seats are too firm and it's also a pity Renault have slightly stiffened the suspension compared the previous mk4. I must be an odd size as, at 5ft 7in, I need a 4 inch booster cushion just to get the top of my head level with the headrest in order to see the bonnet! Never had this problem with older cars.

      @@barrieainge4937 have you tried raising the seat as high as it goes using the button or lever thing down to the right? I'm guessing you will have. We ordered one today but driver is 5ft9 and altered the seat.

      It's a very interesting hybrid at that too. It's more flexible than most non Toyota or Series/Parallel hybrids without having to pay royalties to Toyota.

      @@toyotaprius79 Seeing the bonnet is not something car manufacturers worry about in hatchbacks. If you want that, you should probably go for a crossover or SUV. These more "sporty" cars will always have you sit on the lower side. But even then, being 5'7 you should still be able to adjust the seat enough to see the bonnet tho. I'm 5'7 and have the previous generation Clio and can adjust the seat enough to see the bonnet if I wanted (but I don't need to)

    Ordered one today.. I'm still giggling at the bloke in these comments who said he couldn't see his bonnet being 5ft 7 😂 ... the seats can be moved up and down so you can adjust it (like most cars)... the driver today was 5, 7 and sat in the car had the same problem.. but a couple of pumps on the button at the right of the chair puts you higher. Hopefully he's sorted it out lol. Car was nice .. Shame its a 6 to 9 month wait! Hopefully won't be thet long.

    Hello,
    in the Polo facelift review, you ended on a note recommending this Clio over that one. Aside from the 3-4k euros price gap between the two in my country, which means if I had to choose by quality/price ratio the choice would have to be the Clio, let's say I am accepting of paying a "brand premium" to get the Polo if it is more pleasant to drive as for, well, driving dynamics and sensations.
    The question then is, which of the two feels more entertaining and pleasant to drive?
    I leave the Ibiza out because I suffer from back issues, and the suspension setup in the Ibiza (even the non-FR version) hurts my back. Without that, it would have been the no-brainer pick for me.

    My first car in 1998 was a 1992 Clio 1.4 RT. I went to look at a Fiesta tor the same price and clocked the Clio. Remote central locking, electric windows and mirrors, nice seats, nicer looking. As every 17 year old does, I ruined it. Lowered on 17s, 2k of audio. Loud exhaust. Total lack of service awareness 👍

    I have one myself and I agree with most of your review, it's definitely a big step forward in quality for Renault. I would be interested to know your height, Mark, with your head some way above the headrest. I sit with my head just below the top of the headrest (I'm 5ft 7in) and consequently I find vision restricted. Had to resort to a 4inch booster cushion which has helped in two ways as I find the seats too hard, not a criticism I've found made by any reviewer so must be me. I think this Clio deserves to sell better in the UK than it does. Look forward to more reviews.

      @@jamesuk9 thanks for reply.. after viewing today we ordered the base level model on mobility as it has no down psyment and its just for a woman for shopping and around town.. think its is the evolution.. 7inch screen not 9.. they only had one in the show room at arnold and Clark so wasn't able to test drive. Basically tho it's for 3 years only so it'll be fine I think. Seemed comfy enough. Can I ask one last question 😇 .. does it seem reliable enough? And is it best to just leave it on the eco mode all the time? You obviously have the rs line but I'm guessing fuel consumption should be similar? Again thanks for reply. Got shadow grey colour. Oh and did you wait long? Been told 6 to 9 month wait!!! But could be sooner. Not good but iv heard most cars are like this atm for somereason. Thanks again.

    • @jamesuk9
      @jamesuk9 2 роки тому +1

      @@leafysfishing if you put it to eco mode it will default to mysense mode as soon as you turn the car off. I just leave it in mysense mode as this is the default and the difference is negligible anyway. All eco does is dumb down the throttle response and makes little difference to economy. Selecting B mode on the gear stick probably returns more efficiency savings than eco mode does.
      I only waited a few weeks as at the time I bought it as there were unsold cars on route to UK. I was right place right time as they say.
      It's a highly desirable car, having just won supermini of the year for 3 years running. Demand is high and there are many people I know from online forums in the same place being told 6-9 months at the moment.
      Fuel consumption will be the same regardless of trim model. All have exactly same specced engine and electric motors.

  • @ZedsDeadOK

    BUYER BEWARE DO NOT BUY THE HYBRID VERSION. I bought one in 2022 expecting for a high mpg after reading Renault's blurb i.e. travelling 80% on electric and driving as long as possible on electric, yes that is total BS. The first few months it appeared to be okay however when the temp drops and you need to use the heating fan the ICE will work nearly continuously you will loose at least 10mpg, at first I thought the car had a fault and returned it to my local dealer, they clearly knew the problem before I turned up because they had a mechanic waiting to speak to me he explained that even the EV battery was fully charged if the electrical load i.e. your fan is on it won't switch to the EV mode until the engine is fully warmed up, so local short trips will just use the ICE, so to get around this I switch the fan off until the windscreen mists up to use the EV mode. I am currently in dispute with Renault after learning other makes of cars don't suffer from this problem.

      That kind of car's only purpose is for people who buy them to fund the very very huge research & dev. costs car manufacturers are facing for the transition to an electrically-powered automotive world.
      The "early adopters", some of the most badly scammed people in the world. Sometimes I happen to be one of them (luckily I won't as regards too-early, still immature electric cars).

      i agree with you 100% , i just bought a new etech engineered and came from a 2 year old Toyota Yaris and what a mistake i have made yes the clio is a nice car to drive but its useless for fuel economy, as you say if you put the heater on to keep warm it stays on petrol engine where the Yaris you could have heater on and the aircon on and blower on full and you would still be running on battery power and dont get me started on the clio's terrible gear box

    • @ZedsDeadOK
      @ZedsDeadOK 8 місяців тому

      @@carlthompson8623 Thanks for your comment, I approached someone I know who owns a Yaris and they told me the same, Toyota got it right but Renault hasn't and to make it worse they falsely made claims about the EV function, I think they have now changed the wording on their site, my next car will not be a Renault for sure.
