I have gamed probably 4 or 5 boxes of Legatos at this point and it's a fantastic ball for the price, I have not used Chrome Tour X, but have used and enjoyed the Chrome Tour, but for the price difference it's tough to justify some other balls. My current main ball, however, is the Srixon Q Star Tour. I feel like it's been the most consistent performer for my game.
54 bucks for a dozen!!! HOLY POOP NUGGETS!! I am glad I rock the Kirklands!! Back up ball is sirxon q star (yellow ball). I found experienced set of 50 for 30 bucks.
My son, Golf Noob, got me a set of Legatos. I had been a Titleist True Feel guy for a long time. After trying the Legatos I’m thrilled with the performance and price!
I never broke 90 before this year. I started playing the Legato after Prime Day and I’ve shot an 84 and 87. Obviously it’s not all the ball but I’m very happy playing the Legato.
I've been playing these Legato balls for almost two years now. Excellent ball. Recently played the Chrome Soft X that I purchased at a discount and the Legato is every bit as good in my opinion.
From your review I tried the Legato balls. Just bought my second dozen of them and I am hooked! Just shot my best 9 hole round last night of my life using them. My friends laugh when I tell them the name of the ball until they see me hit past them!! Thank you !!
Watching your videos earlier this year, I purchased 2 dozen Legato balls. I’ve really enjoyed them. The only adjustment I had to make was on the green. It seems the softer compression needed a little more strike to get the distance down. Off the tee and fairways to greens have been a nice experience.
After watching your vids on Legato I now rock the Yellow Legato balls...picked up two more packs during Amazon days. However, my over love are the Vice Pro Drip, which are higher in price but great performance. I would like to see a head-to-head between those two.
I do like the Legato alignment line! I’m hitting the ProV1. But previous to that the Vice Pro Air and Taylor Made Tour Response. Still looking for the perfect ball! FYI! Did you know your set up is always right of the target! Thanks Gabe
Based on your reviews I bought a dozen Megaton and really like them. As a master of fact was using one yesterday and put my third shot on a par 5 in from 145 yards. Only thing that keeps me playing "premium" balls is the number of members at my club who play (and lose) premium balls! 😁
Hey Gabe, ever since you mentioned the Legato I’ve been using them. I was playing a mix of Kirkland and Callaway Chrome Soft LS and liked both. But I really like the feel of the Legato and it performs as well if not better.
Legato all day long--in my bag--not sure the origin, but they seem to be consistent throughout the bag. Thanks for the comparison... but won't go Chrome.
I like the Legato. It is a pretty decent ball. If I have one complaint, at least for me, with the ball is that it balloons on me off the tee. Distance is generally equal to say a ProV1 but the ball height is very high and the ball tends to land like a mortar round in the fairway. There were a couple of times that I commented, 'I wish my wedges would spin up like this.' I've delofted the driver to under 9 degrees but it still does it. So these are my 'winter' balls where I get more in air distance but less roll out because soggy Washington doesn't get any roll out with any ball so more air time is a bit better. Off the irons the Lagato's are fantastic, probably better than any other ball I've hit.
Glad to hear you've put them into play. Interesting that you're getting such high launch. Have you checked your spin on a launch monitor? Would be interesting to see what it is.
@@LetsPlayThru Not at this time but probably will give it a check this fall when I start back at the facility that I use for winter practice. They have the GC Hawk system there. I can compare it to the ProV1, TP5 (2024 model) and maybe pick up some Chrome Tours for comparison. It's probably related to the way I swing the club. Getting height isn't normally a problem but I do tend to hit a spinny ball. It's part of the reason I hit the Stealth 2 Plus since it is the lower spinning head.
I love the chrome tour x they always go farther for me but I rock the Kirkland golf balls most of the time cheap 35 bucks for 2 dozen and they have a nice feel to them regardless of what people say about Kirkland they feel just as good as pro v1 to me but cheaper ! I have to try the legato one day and see how it is
@@LetsPlayThru yeah I don’t have a membership to Costco so I get them online lol so I pay a bit more lol but I will ! I’m running low on my callaway so I’m gonna order some legatos to try them out !
Loving this. But is the tour x with your swing speed the appropriate ball to play, I know they always say to me, if your under a 110 swing ya shouldn’t be playing TP5, PRO V’s and the Tour X. It is great though with this comparison. Kinda the same when you were using the OnCores.
Excellent video especially considering the subjectivity of how you have to rate them on alternate shots. I'm a huge fan of the DTC balls/club manufacturers and think for most of us non-professionals, it's the way to go.
Awesome..need to try some legato after my Costco balls run out. Question??? You still hitting the ping? Seems your smash factors are down a little. But your club speed is getting up there.
Entertaining video. My opinion is that high end golf balls are for high end players who know how to shape shots and control trajectory and need to stop 4 irons on small greens.
What I like the most about the Legatos, the Kirkland and the MaxFli Tour is that when I lose them I don't cry at all. I barely spend 30s looking for them 🙂
Gabe, I think what this test proved is that you should keep using the LAB putter as you always putt your best with that thing. Those putts were money. Now as for the difference in the balls, I don't think much difference in performance but considering the price, it's a no brainer to play the Legato.
Interesting comparison. Construction is very different. 3 piece 85 compression 350 dimples v. 4 piece 98 compression 332 dimples. You can obviously play with a 4 piece x ball. I personally play OnCore Elixr ‘22s that I get bundled for $25 a dozen. They have the identical construction specs to the Legato. 3 pc, 85 comp, 350 dimps. My premium choice would be Wilson Triad. 3pc, 86 comp, 348 dimps right now you can get them direct from Wilson for $34 dozen. That’s a direct comparison. I realize the point, they are not the “best” of the year Callaway.
Hi Gabe, I've played the Legato golf balls and I have to say they were just ok for me. My results differ from yours. In my comparison, the Legatos did not go as far and as straight as my Callaway Chrome X, and the durability of the ball is questionable, the cover of the balls seemed to yellow and mark easier.
Hi Gabe, I’m curious as to why you chose the Chrome Tour “X” against the Legato. Wouldn’t the regular Chrome Tour be a closer comparison? (both being less spinny)
I have been a Callaway club and ball for 30 years. Still play the clubs but started playing Kirkland balls this year. $54 for a dozen against $30 for two dozen can’t be beat. I am a 9 handicap and haven’t seen a drop off in my scores and definitely not because of the ball.
I've been playing Legato balls for a few months now. My only complaint is they do easily discolor and get dingy looking. Other than that, it's a really good ball for a reasonable price.
There are many balls that compare to pro balls. That is good for options. I like Maxfli and Vice lines myself. Still primarily play ProV1. Both Callaway and Titleist employ hundreds of people in Massachusetts. Foreign made balls will be cheaper when made in Taiwan, Vietnam and China.
I played the Triad ball for a while. It was actually the ball I played before this one. It’s a great ball. I would say they are right on par with each other, but the price of Legato is just a little better.
Tried Legato after your first video on them and haven’t used anything else since. Price, 1-2 day free delivery and the feel of any expensive ball I’ve ever played sealed the deal
I would love to see a golf ball rating video for high visibility golf balls. Crushed one straight down the fairway with my 5H and never found the ball so I went on Amazon to buy some neon colored balls but there are sooo many high visibility balls on Amazon that I don't know anything about...
I was a Tour X player and then converted to Tour S last year. It is their "soft" version but doesn't feel at all like a marshmallow. Low spin off the driver, and enough iron spin to hold greens. It's also crazy straight! Either way though I'm a Maxfli fan too
Aww Gabe. This test might have been better without your Legato ball. Not everyone can get them and in the UK they are expensive balls anyway. I think a great test for you would be ball speed versus any quality branded ball. Compression makes such a difference with swing speed which is why I play the Callaway Supersoft as is perfect for my swing speed.
I spoke to a buddy from one of the golf retailers and he said that ProVs are still selling well, but the other brands' $50 balls are not doing well. I think these guys have been pushing pricing up each year and are now hitting the ceiling for what they can change. I play Vice and I've hit just about everything out there and I see them as being as solid as anything at $55. And I'm paying $33 when I'm buying them in five dozen. I think the Vice's... Legatos... yes, Kirklands, and Maxflis are grabbing market share because of the overpricing by the larger brands. Maybe they will come into 2025 with a little better pricing?
I may be ignorant but from what I’ve read a 1 vs a 3 on the club reaction and compression rating. That doesn’t seem like a fair comparison for either brand. But I’m not a professional or an amateur just giving my two cents. Again I am likely very ignorant but would like clarification as to how this is fair. I haven’t finished the video but either way I believe it should be 1 rating vs 1 rating on the ball just my opinion. Also I think the putt should be a little less involved in the point count cause I’ve seen pros struggle mightily with the putt that’s the most difficult part of the game my opinion. This is not to say that every part of the game isn’t but putting requires so much precision more than the other parts of the game.
Lmk if you enjoyed this new format. Get the Legato balls here: geni.us/6wOk5

Definition of COMPRESSION....
the act of pressing something into a smaller space or putting pressure on it from different sides until it gets smaller:
