- One of the best of the Tom and Jerry series produced in the early 1930s by the Van Beuren studio. Features some great gags and musical selections including "Margie" and "Doin the New Low Down". Music synchronization by Gene Rodemich. Vocal on "The New Low Down" by Margie Hines.

God! This is so hilarous! The best part is when the ambulance rescues the mouse lol.

Outa site Man! My Mom & Dad were just kids watching this cartoon. I miss watching these early cartoons from when I was a wee one.
I believe that they are much more talented than today's artists! You do have a point, this was ALL drawn by hand!

Is it just me or at 1:15 is this a cameo of Mickey Mouse? Or was that just a common way of drawing mice in the 1930's cartoons?

This film is amazing, considering that it was all hand drawn, there is so much detail. The surealism is briliant!

I've seen this cartoon in the "Why Wasn't I Invited?" episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

Actually when these films were shown in the mid 1940s the characters names were changed to 'Dick and Larry' to avoid confusion with the cat and rodent.

I play the piano and percussion. In the marching band pit, there is a keyboard similar to a piano because that is what is part of PIT for the marching band

It was thought that Psycho was the first time you ever had a working toilet shown in film, You can see that's really not the case with this short at 02:34, Even though you don't see the whole toilet only part of it.
At that time, just like in the sexties/ seventies music was made for people who were high or on drugs (coke for instance),just like i am right now. enjoy!

I'm no expert, Van Beuren the studio did cartoons for quite awhile beyond the T&Js
till the late thirties I think,
They started in the silent era,
The first T&J cartoon came out in 1929
The cat and rodent took over those names after Van Beuren's time had passed.
