In my experience, using black (tars, sealers, etc.) tends to run and stain shingles (especially white) and other roofing materials such as vents and flashing.
This product is ok to use when you have small, "hairline" cracks, to stop the cracks from getting bigger in the freez thaw cycle, and to stop water from penetrating your chimney. As a professional chimney sweep, if you have cracks that are as big as a 1/4" you need a structural concrete repair, not a brush on membrane. I'm not bashing this product, as I use it regularly! But sometimes you need a professional!
I'm a mason and $300 is a bargain, depending on exactly what he's doing up there. I form and pour concrete crowns with an overhang, and that starts at $750. Higher up and harder to get to the more expensive it gets
She says... "make it last a little while longer".... ? What does that mean? :-) I don't want to repair my ceiling inside if this is only going to last a little while.
Good video. I'm going to try this on my crown.
Great, thank you.
Could I use black roof tar caulking to seal large cracks before applying? Thanks

She does mention that.
Agree.
Just what I need, considering I got a $300 estimate yesterday to repair a cracked crown!!!!
Diana McCoy
That is a steal
I got a $1200 estimate. Glad I checked this out. I'm definitely going to try this myself.

Is a gallon enough to repair a standard cap?
She stated 40 Sq feet per gallon for 2 coats
Great info thank you :)
Noisy as hell in the background. But I still love you
I looked at the instructions online and it says latex caulk not silicone for cracks. Then seal over it.
Keeper!
Does it work on dental crowns? My dentist charges a fortune!
Great info. Thanks
Couldn't you find a nosier highway to film this video by?
Didn't realize Talladega had chimneys in the vicinity..
Or you could do it the right way and simply replace the crown.
If you need a job doing chimney work, let me know.
The lady really knows her stuff! Great material and presentation...but OMG! The background noise caused a loss of educational value. Please redo this.

Like Mike Haduck says, " A patch is a patch. There's no such thing as a permanent repair."
