Most people understand the king's move. The problem is under the table Todd's elbow is off the pad or his shoulder is below the table. If they just change the shoulder rule alone it would fix the kings move completely. Armpit needs to be above the table. Then everyone would be happy.
Idk I'm for anything armwrestling. If it follows the rules, do it. Because then it will be alot more about strength than technique. I think something between freedom and traditional will be ideal.

A tricep should never be considered in an rule about the elbow

Line up the table with a super low flat pad that mimics the area size of the standard pads. That way, you can achieve the free flowing feel but still have the restriction of having to keep the elbow within the thin pad area? Something to trial I guess?

I agree with John. With the pin where it is currently, the ref is constantly trying to get both armwrestlers to square their shoulders on setup and it allows for extreme under the table king moves

This is excellent. I can respect that some people like the kings move and some people don't. For now it's part of the game so I think this video is incredibly intelligent. Like it or not it's there so why not figure out ways around it. Ways to beat it. Spend some table time trying the kings move yourself to find its strengths and weaknesses. No move is unbeatable and the smartest guys will find ways around it instead of complaining about it.

Kings move depends 100% on the ref. It could be a part of the sport if the ref enforces the correct rules (elbow on pad, shoulder above table). The way Todd did Kings move against Devon was 100% cheating and doesn’t require any strength. You have Todd too much credit in this video, he’s weak when he’s not cheating

I think often the point of the elbow goes just behind the pad which allows the kings move player to use the pad/table to brace them. I have seen this many times and often the refs do not see the kings move using the pad to brace the arm.

The grips across the table agreed very good idea and add some padding for the elbows with raised cushioned edges to encourage staying within the boundaries and that could be a real game changer

Ryan is correct here. This was the best discussion of the Kings Move in all of arm wrestling so far. Ryan makes the point that some uneducated spectators can't believe that competitors can use body weight, or that they can hook their leg around the table leg for leverage. All that stuff was unheard of in the early days of "wrist wrestling", where two competitors were seated at the table.
My workout in the early 1980s was just two sets of curls for 12 reps with a 100 - pound dumbbell, with the dumbbell duck taped around about 8 to 10 inches thick in the middle of the dumbbell I would also practice with my friends at my house or at their house.
I didn’t realise that the WAL pad being at the edge of the table allows the kings move. John makes valid point about the point of the elbow vs the inside of the tricep/bicep. They need to limit how low you can go...pecs above level of table or put a seat behind opponents and definitely the point of elbow on pad. Listen to the GOAT

The biggest problem with the kings move is that you beat the arm by hyperextended it . But due to the pads it's not a pin. To get the pin now you have to work against the body.

I didn’t realise that the WAL pad being at the edge of the table allows the kings move. John makes valid point about the point of the elbow vs the inside of the tricep/bicep. They need to limit how low you can go...pecs above level of table or put a seat behind opponents and definitely the point of elbow on pad. Listen to the GOAT

Jesus Chirst Funny. Last interview I saw Michael was surprised when Bart said you just have to have any part of the elbow on the pad. He thought you'd have to keep the tip of the elbow on the pad, and that's what he always did.

The biggest problem with the kings move is that you beat the arm by hyperextended it . But due to the pads it's not a pin. To get the pin now you have to work against the body.
