What a great review Stew, that made me feel confident Bluetti was the way to go. I have just ordered The EB 70 which is just a small step up. Very happy now I have seen what yours can do. Keep up the good work both of you.
I just wanted to say after seeing comments about advertising products. You guys put in so much effort into your videos. It annoys me when you are criticised for advertising products. Subscribers need to understand the effort that goes into producing material. I have even heard that comment “I won’t watch if there are lots of adverts”. Take no notice. This UA-cam game is hard work. You guys do it very well and should expect some reward. Even buying cameras and drones is not cheap. It takes a long time to get that money back if ever. All I am saying is if you need to advertise then do it. Most subscribers will understand that. Sorry rant over 😮
Thanks for watching and comments - as I said it’s first time in 4 years and 168 videos and we only did it as the company did not constrain my words so that allowed me to test and share pros and cons. Like you we share all we use in the van as people are interested and this won’t sit on a shelf. We don’t openly advertise although you could argue the van and every thing we share in our trips is an advert but I hope it’s more interesting and enjoyable than that Take care both
hey, thank you for the review! I'm from Ukraine and was in doubt if I should buy it, but your honest tests showed me that's it's awesome! Saw the characteristcs and for me the LiFEon4 battery sounds more secure than ones in Ecoflow. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! You will see this was the first review based on being given it but I insisted on being able to tell how it is I can say since that video it is still with us and using it daily and for us it works great - we charge daily as we drive - I am sure there are lots of other models and prices
@@getawaygeese I have a Jackery 240wh and I’m thinking of getting this as an upgrade, I drive all of the UK for work (in Scotland yesterday North Wales today) I charged it while I drive (free power) and I’ve used it for Metal detecting weekends away using Solar panels to charge, I think they’re such great bits of kit. I liked your hands on approach to the review actually doing it rather than doing a calculation
@NorthCornwallMetalDetecting yes we had a smaller poweroak but this gives us more capability on slightly higher wattage devices like Jane’s straighteners and low wattage hair dryer
Thank you very much for investing all the time and effort into creating this very informative and useful video. I've just begun perusing the available portable power stations and found the Bluetti EB55 to be a contender for our short-term camping needs. Liked and subscribed. If the above is an associate's link, we'll be sure to buy through your link. Cheers!
Glad you found it useful …. There are quite a few manufacturers out there now so lots of choice - we are still using this one since we filmed and so far so good on the equipment we use

Great video ,great kettle with low wattage where can I buy it . The power station has a 3 pin plug ,is the video South African produced.I give us real life experience. I give it five star.we love to see these power stations handling the real tasks.
I believe the plugs are sold for the country type but if you check on the Bluetti site to see if it’s available in SA - I have put the Amazon link in the video description but not sure again if it’s available in SA but the key is to get a low wattage travel kettle
That was a great review and so useful for me. You are spot on about showing how many times it actually boils the kettle. It was also really useful to see you charge the unit as you drive the van. That’s what I plan to do with my tiny 300w River 2. I would have been interested to see the impact on your leisure battery when you were travelling and charging the Bluetti, was your van leisure battery already full, or does it charge both batteries at the same time. I’m also a bit confused by the electrics! I don’t really have anything that I need more than 300w for just my laptop and everything else will charge off the van battery and that has solar. If we run out of gas we have the cadac with the aerosol cans for an emergency. Sandwiches are fine, we won’t starve and there’s a towel for my hair. Thank goodness I’m not on UA-cam 😂. Thanks for sharing an excellent review.
Excellent - really appreciate you taking time to feedback and so glad that the tests were useful. 300w is fine we had ours for 4 years and served us well and to be honest we may still take it. In answer to your question on Harry it will be charging both at the same time so win win - I am no techy but assume the alternator will share to Harry. Now whether there is less charge going to the leisure I am not sure but Harry tends to be always topped up. In all of the Ireland trip we charged the 300w and the leisure battery and had no issues. We as you may know had the lithium and dc to dc charge upgrade. UA-cam creation I enjoy but you put many hours in to creating a video probably 2/3 days per video if you include filming or just 2 if production
Thank you we tried to answer some basic questions - the link to the product is in the video description but just looked and a sale on and it is £559 at the moment
Hi Stu, twice in onenight😅. I've seen this video before, but just rewatched it. It's such a good simple explanation of what it can do. We are just about to upgrade from a 500-watt Jackery to a 2000-watt Afariy with solar panels, so we should be able to power Manchester in a black out😅😅. Is the kettle still going strong? Was looking to possibly get the same one.
Yes using it thus trip - we bought a second ready for it to go wrong - I am sure it will as it’s at that end but it makes two cups and that’s all you need
Thanks glad you found it useful - I looked on Amazon and in the product description it mentions microwave below 700w I found lots of devices state a wattage ie that cook pot said 600w but pulled I think around 665w so the manufacturers aren’t always accurate - so whether you can test that before hand Failing that I guess try and return How many cooks you will get will be dependant upon how long by 330w/600w cook pot does two cooks but that’s cooking for 20 mins. So I guess yours will be 8/10 min. Bursts - if you are driving the following day or can charge it somehow then you should be able to use it the following day if you put adequate charge in We have been using it yesterday night boiled kettle couple of times and cooked a curry on a mixture of 300w/600w setting and it went down to around 50% of charge used
Thank you for a great review. However, I'm afraid I have had a more negative experience of this device. I too try to use it with a Cookworks (Argos) travel kettle which consumes just over 600W. I can't do this very much before the capacity indicator suddenly drops to zero, the low battery indicator lights (NOT the overload indicator) and the inverter cuts out. You can switch on the inverter again, whereupon it will operate for a couple of seconds and then cut out again. The fault will not clear until it's charged again, if only for a short time. I can run the kettle while it's charging from the mains adaptor and it won't cut out (taking about 400W from the battery). This fault is not due to battery capacity - you can discharge at a lower rate and you get the capacity claimed, and after this fault occurs it doesn't put anything like the full capacity back into the batteries before it's fully charged again. I think the issue might be affected by temperature - it appears to be worse as the temperature drops even by a small amount - maybe down to 10C (well within its operating range). I had a long to and fro with Bluetti about this, including sending them videos, and they eventually told me it was faulty, but because I didn't buy direct from them, they point blank refused to help me out after that. I bought it from eBay, new and sealed, but by the time Bluetti admitted there was something wrong the return window had closed, so I am stuck with a faulty device. Unkind Bluetti, unkind. The pitch of the fans does drop quite a bit when supplying 600W. I wonder of yours does too, or if there's a problem with internal resistance of the cells in my unit, causing it to think the batteries are flat when on a full load? Another problem mine has is indicating overload when connected to a freezer. The freezer's compressor only consumes about 70W and while it of course has a large start-up current, I'm disappointed that the device can't handle this when it claims to have a 1kW surge capacity.

@@getawaygeese thanks for the quick response. Yeah, I was getting more depressed the more kettles you managed to boil! I only use it while charging because that's the only way I can get it to supply the kettle without it deciding the battery is flat. @@getawaygeese I could try the 60Hz setting (I don't have access at the moment) but that shouldn't make any difference - the kettle would consume the same amount of power. You never know, though. I don't think the problem is in the AC inverter as that would cause the overload indicator to light (as it does with the freezer connected). By the way, the inverter eats about 20W before you draw any power, so if you've got the option of using a DC outlet (such as USB A or C) then do that rather than plugging a USB power supply into the AC outlet.
You can boil the kettle? I was just getting this to keep my laptop and screens on -- I am going to try well not today surprisingly no outage this morning only scheduled for later - yes, South Africa
Yes but it’s a low wattage travel kettle as most domestics are high wattage but it works for what we want Thanks for watching and good look in the power shut off
I’m replacing the noisy ac power supply with a 12v cigarette plug AC>DC adapter for home use, alongside 200w of solar via Xt60 port. The Bluetti DC7909 port says 10amp, but the provided brick is 8. My options for a fan-less brick are 5 or 8. Am I right that the 10amp would charge twice as fast, which is not an issue for my use, but will 5 amp run cooler/safer? I’m just powering my internet and home security system when I leave home for months at a time. I’d rather be safe than fast. Concerns with 10a amp vs 5?
Ok to be honest I am no expert in electrics and only tested the EB55 out the box with the default. I found the support from Bluetti responsive so it may be worth posing the question direct to them assuming you are using standard Bluetti equipment Sorry I can’t be more helpful
@mart244652 yes they are expensive do it’s about finding a balance for the devices you use so we use this all the time for a travel kettle / small cook pot / strainers / hair dryer / general charging
i need one of these at my small office (5 people) my boss is a real scrooge and would make everyone use both sides of the toilet paper if he could we are only allowed to boil 1 kettle full in the morning and we have to all stand around and make tea or coffee at the same time and then the boss unplugs it and puts it in his room - we don't have a refrigerator either or microwave - heat is set to 20 celsius in the winter maximum - air conditioning in the summer is set to 25 greetings from toronto oh and i havent had a raise since december 2019 when i got 2%
Oh that sounds a bad environment to be in - well the Bluetti would at least give you more hot drinks although a standard kettle would probably to much power thanks for watching
Depends on wattage of TV as not tried it but they are not huge watt devices - it 700w max - it’s more about how long will it last and can I keep up with the recharge - it’s just over 500 watt hours device
Nope don’t worry - as I said at the start I have turned many away and would only do something that I used and the fact I use the poweroak and this replaced it allows us to do more as we will show in the videos - I understand your comment - first in 4 years
Not sure why anyone would buy oe of these over so many other power stations. Customer service isn't the best and they're not the cheap. A Vtoman 1500x is only £100 more but has double the inverter power (1500watts and 3000watts peak) and a much larger battery (828wh)..plus the option of an expansion battery. The Ugreen power roam 600 has wifi/app and is only £50 more, 5 year warranty, bigger battery and inverter
Thanks for watching and commenting and had not heard of that brand till you said - we had a poweroak before so it was a natural evolution as it was a rusted make.
@@getawaygeese Vtoman have been specialisomg in car jumper batteries and tools for years and now make power stations. Ugreen are like Anker, they make charging devices and ports, etc. then moved onto power stations. Yes as long as below say 650 w - Jane’s is around 300w I seem to recall
@@getawaygeese many thanks also hairdryers I pursume under the 573 w ?
@mart244652 yeah as long as under 700w but you could get their latest that is 1000w
@@getawaygeese thanks but only looking for a reasonable price one
@mart244652 yes they are expensive do it’s about finding a balance for the devices you use so we use this all the time for a travel kettle / small cook pot / strainers / hair dryer / general charging
Will it do 8...the tension was unbearable!
Lol 😂 well I felt I needed to test it and I was getting excited to
I need to buy it
Still road testing but it’s worked well on a 6 week trip so far - thanks for watching
Can it be charged while it is being used?
No I don’t believe so on this one
Yes
i need one of these at my small office (5 people)
my boss is a real scrooge and would make everyone use both sides of the toilet paper if he could
we are only allowed to boil 1 kettle full in the morning and we have to all stand around and make tea or coffee at the same time and then the boss unplugs it and puts it in his room - we don't have a refrigerator either or microwave - heat is set to 20 celsius in the winter maximum - air conditioning in the summer is set to 25
greetings from toronto
oh and i havent had a raise since december 2019 when i got 2%
Oh that sounds a bad environment to be in - well the Bluetti would at least give you more hot drinks although a standard kettle would probably to much power thanks for watching
Can it power a television???
Depends on wattage of TV as not tried it but they are not huge watt devices - it 700w max - it’s more about how long will it last and can I keep up with the recharge - it’s just over 500 watt hours device
No Stew.... no.... please don't go down the product advertising route.... I usually bin channels that just turn into shopping channels.
There are lots around..Zendure is another specialist but they dont spend as much time and budget on social media marketing as eco flow and Bluetti
I think Gooloo is a sister brand of Vtoman.. high quality gear for a reasonable price.
Ah ok interesting thanks
@@getawaygeese you should consider reaching out to these companies and ask them for a discount or even send you a unit for review and you get to keep a power station for free. Bluetti and eco flow have been reviewed to death tbh
You would be better off hanging the laptop with a 12v charger. Save alot of power
Do you mean off leisure battery or independent device ? The mac drains quickly especially with external disks as they suck the power
No get a 12v adapter charger for the mac and use the 12v output rather than 240v it will save a lot of power I use one on my Windows laptop.
Ah got you sorry misunderstood just been looking at them - thanks for the tip
We've been watching how you have been getting on in Harry we have had all sorts of motorhomes and caravans larger campervans now thinking about the custom as pur next van thankyou for your vlogs very helpful.
Spell check strikes again
Not great sadly........
Oh sorry about that - we are still using it on a daily basis although there are many others around
