Mines got the g80 rear axle didn't know it was an option on this suv till I replaced the pinion seal and went to look up the gear oil requirements. It's an automatic locking axle, if a wheel is slipping upwards of 120rpm it engages a weight using subtropical force to lock the axle.
I've had 3 suburbans for work and weekend camping. Recently I have one for just camping. Found your channel doing research on conversions. You have alot of great ideas and info!
When I saw the Idaho Hot Springs title I thought you meant in Colorado, so was very confused by the location! This brings back great memories of camping and seeking out hot springs in Idaho! Great springs, beautiful hikes and scenery. Thank you!
Hey @SUBOVERLAND, what notch do you have the bilstein struts adjusted to? And how is the ride quality? Thinking of changing my current lift set up on my 08 Trailblazer. It has a strut spacer in the strut and one on top to achieve a 3 inch lift but if the ride quality is better with this one and I can get similar results, then I’ll make the switch immediately
Imo the xuv longer wheelbase was a bit ugly however if came stock with the 5.3v8 due to size. Denali was only way to get the 5.3 in the short WB. If you ordered one new you had a range of ratio options. IIRC 3.23/43 3.73. 4.11 and the locker rear end option. It was solid rear axle for towing, most other manufactures at time we’re going independent rear suspension. Nice to see the “TrailVoy” in the wild.
@@itsheff3929 My 2000 extended cab 5.3L Z71 GMC Sierra 1500 gets noticably better fuel mileage with heavy LT265/75/16 (10 ply) Falken Wildpeak AT3W's and 3.73 gears VS my wife's 2005 4.2L 4x4 GMC Envoy XL with P245/65/17 Falken AT Trail's and 3.42 gears. Both all stock except flowmaster catback exhaust on the Sierra lol.
I really like these Envoys, but so many reviews say the engine and transmission are great but everything else needs constant repairs... They are really well priced right now.
There was a revision to the LL8 for valve issues. I've got 220k problem free miles from mine. Not even an engine code, except for when I had to replace a coil pack at 192k miles. I CANNOT complain.
Kids in the hot spring...adorable.
Thanks!
The Onnvoy luk betta than factory.
Can you tell us more about the trailer and your tent?

Can you do a under the vehicle video on the different transfer cases that came with different generation Suburbans?
Ya that's a good idea

I was hoping to get more information on the lift kit maybe even possible links with part numbers Great video thank you
I’d be interested in more in that lift setup. I’ve seen a lot with the spacers and Tahoe springs but I may like that one more. Have an 05 Trailblazer.
I have a 3 inch lift on my 04 envoy with 33/12.5/20
@@mattgallaugher820 do you rub?
@@itsheff3929 I cut a little of the wheel well but nothing crazy and no rub
I have an Envoy as well and would like to do this SOO bad. Did you remove the door belt trim?

Cool to see a different platform build! Didnt know you could get a 5.3 in those smaller SUVs, interesting.
He's running the 4.2L AFAIK. 5.3L wasn't announced until after '02 with the Denali package.

I have the 4.2 straight 6 envoy. It produces 290hp and the 5.3 produces 302 so not much difference except the gas mileage lol

Great content as always! Any plans for a Tahoe build??
Hopefully soon!
With your tire setup, do you have wheel spacer?
After watching the video a few times where he goes over the suspension it looks like the stock wheels with no spacers.
Beautiful scenery. I hope my son and I can visit these places. The drone shot at 12:00 is amazing. Thanks.
Thanks!
What is the tallest tire can you fit on the envoy without a lift?
These videos are awesome... Can you do upgrades on my 07 suburban and 06 envoy denali... Haha
Im omani i live envoy
front axle weak and problematic. Also cyl head issues on atlas series.5.3 would be better choice
having said all that i like them!
The cylinder head issue doesn't affect the 4.2 I6
@@mdk7376 we have seen a few but not like the I 5 and 4 for sure

Yeah actually this one is way too quiet.
I'll try harder next time👍
