QUICK NOTE! I forgot to mention the different Wireless chip that the two cameras have. The E2 uses 2.4GHz and the E2-M4 uses 5GHz. This means the M4 will have less latency / faster data transfers and less interference (at the cost of less distance).
Could you explain to me how I can set the camera to use it fpr 120 or 160 fps? even if I change the seetings according to his instructions it doesn't show me the possibility to switch into 120 fps or more.
With ef mount and eND is cool. But then stuck with mft crop. Which will make have ultrawide angle quite impossible. I guess most people will opt for mft mount and speedboost.
the z cam is more cinema camera style so its got more features but its more manually controlled while the BGH1 is more of a do it all camera, both are excellent though

Hi, Thanks for the great video. Quick question. Can I connect to LANC control port on ZCAM E2-M4 or E2-S6 instead of USB-C ? ie. LANC on Ninja V to LANC on E2 camera. Keeping USB-C free is useful to record with SSD disks directly.
Yeah, I bought the E2C. Great little camera, but now with the M4, these two would make a great A/B camera setup. Use the M4 as the main cam, E2C as the b-cam.
Awesome idea! The E2C is great but for the extra for most people the M4 will make a much better primary camera! Think you'll be happy with the pair though!
how would you compare this dealio to the canon c100 or c300 MK ii? I'm just curious on account of lenses, monitor, CFast memory, overall budget efficiency ?
There's some slow mo in the vid ;) and plenty of awesome videos online already. However our flagship review will include some more E2 tests! Thanks and thanks for watching!!
Hi. Can you explain how it works with EF adapter and EF lenses? Does the sensor get the full field of view and light from the lens, or it takes only central part of the whole field? (excuse me if I'm not clear enough).
If you are adapting straight onto the camera with an EF adapter you'll have to take the crop into account and you will get no extra light. If you you are adapting with a speedbooster (0.71 or 0.64) you will get a wider FOV and more light.
It would 100% however I think if filmmaking is your focus and not studio or live production I would suggest trying to get the extra budget for the M4. We made a video about the E2C here - ua-cam.com/video/e8yG2aJHjrU/v-deo.html
We should be getting more in stock next week. If you are keen to get your hands on one I would suggest pre-ordering via the site or a sales manager as we have pre-orders already and it's first come first serve.
For this, I was using a Smallrig 1/4" to cold shoe adapter & with a Manfrotto 492LCD. You will be able to put any cold shoe handle on the top which will be better than a 492 as a handle haha I only used it as it's all I had available.
What would be the best setting to use with Ninja V? I am not able to output C4K 60FPS to Ninja V. Is it not possible? The unit I have has official firmware not prores raw beta firmware.
Check out this webpage to see the crop modes but you can choose for the most part! reduxfilm.co/z-cam-handbook/ The M4 has dual base iso so it's very good for a M43 sensor! Jake
Thanks for the video. I have the E2C and probably if the E2-M4 would have been out back then I'd rather have gotten that. It seems pretty impressive for the price. However, the E2C also dropped in price here in Germany and I might rather get a second one than a E2-M4… depending on my clients wanting quantity vs quality. :-D Actually a comparison of their entry level M2 vs E2-M4 would make sense.
@@exoticcarlife2904 Let me put it this way… I still haven't found the golden path to good pictures with the E2C. Is it me, is it the camera? Pehaps both. It's so much easier with my GH5. I'm actually never 100% satisfied with the image from the E2C. The GH5 in contrast often times still makes me do images that bring me great joy, even though it's not the most up-to-date and superior camera. I use the E2C in streaming, however, which depending on the job has some real benefits, especially the remote control via network/browser and the power over ethernet option (which unfortunately the E2-M4 does not have). Not all streams demand TV-style quality. Often times its 1 camera and doing something about good audio. So far, alright with me, I can do the live streaming thing and if I take good care of the lights they're not bad. For pro production however, I'd much more like to get more Panasonic gear. It is easier to use for me, plus it corrects for the lens distortion, which unfortunately often times is a part of the MFT ecosystem.
I think for now its worth to wait for a move from panasonic. A gh6 could end up in a similar price to an mft z-cam, Hopefully better specs and ull get autofocus, ibis and all the goodies.
Slightly better & larger sensor than GH5, ProRes internally, ZRAW internally, ProRes RAW externally 4K 160fps, better form factor, can record to USB-C or CFAST, amazing battery life from industry standard NPF Sony batteries, Gigabit Ethernet for a range of utilities, there's much much more to talk about too.
I think the sensor of the E2-M4 compares more to the GH5s. There are plenty of neat features of the E2* series compared to GH5(s), e.g. recording ProRes to USB-C SSDs. I own a E2C and I find it easier to grade good skin tones from it than from the GH5. The battery life is insane and the direct streaming to UA-cam and the like (needs a computer/laptop to be set up) is worth a lot in these pandemic times. However, mostly unmentioned: The E2* cameras do not compensate lens distortion. Also true for the BMPCC4k. Pretty much all mirrorless photo cameras however do compensate for lens distortion when recording video, even the chepest ones. People seem to like the Olympus Pro 12-40 f2,8 with the E2* cameras. I use it, too. It looks quite bent on 12mm, so when I got the time I rather use a cheap Samyang 12mm prime instead.
I would love to see offset frame rates (VFR) in a firmware update similar to the BMPCC4K! Or just even having more even fps in VFR mode such as 32fps, 34fps, 36ps and etc.
Hi I have a GH5 and a atomos Ninja to record ProRes HQ. I want to get a second camera and make my gh5 the BCam but for my A cam I was thinking the Zcam E2 M4 or the GH5S. The plus of the gh5s is that they are the same brands and easy to match however the Zcam would allow me to record ProRes HQ internally and so the gh5 could keep the ninja V and also record ProRes hq thus all the footage would be ProRes without buying another ninja or just having my Bcam footage just Vlog if I got the GH5S. If you were me would you go for the gh5s or the Zcam E2 M4 to mate with the GH5 and advice would be appreciated as I have been stuck on this choice e for quite some time. Thanks JF
Hey JF, I think you picking up an M4 and using your Ninja V for your GH5 is a good idea! I think you will be able to match the M4 with the GH5 fairly easy as you can shoot LOG on both, though grading ZLOG2 is a bit more involved than VLOG. This is an excellent first step into small form factor cine cameras and I think you would be happy with the results! Any other questions let me know! Jake
I would say yes, though using the Z CAM will be a bit of a learning curve over a GH5S. Luckily their Facebook group is very welcoming and has so much information, so I would advise joining that if you decide to go down that route! Jake
