Yeah I agree with you 100% even Nate in an interview says there was a 1-2 year time period were all he listen to only Marshall so he definitely has some respect for this man
yeah, i think he's not trying to diss eminem but sating that him and em arent the same since em says in the ringer "recovery clone of me". he MAY be adressing that
NF never really responded to the Em diss on social media or otherwise. Now he drops his new album The Search with a song titled Returns and the reference to Eminem is just as subtle as Eminem's reference to NF. Keep in mind that both of these guys are excellent lyricists and aren't going to be forthright necessarily with what they're talking about when they're taking shots, if you will. So now let's talk about the lyrics in the song Returns which I believe reference Eminem. "Pushing forward, look, I can't ignore it There ain't no I in team, but drop the T and A" I believe what NF is saying here is that he's pushing forward but he can't ignore the mention of him in the song Ringer by Eminem. He goes on to say that there ain't no I in team but if you drop the t and a, the only thing that's left of the letters e m. A lot of people refer to Eminem as Em. Some people will take the next two lines and say that it does not refer to Eminem because he uses the word "me" twice, which is the letters e and m reversed. "Sometimes, if I'm being honest, feels like it's only me No defeat, notably, better have it right if you're quoting me" I disagree that he would be using those letters in the word me instead. He's too much of a Lyricist to do that without talking about reversing it. But let's go on to exam the next couple of lines which make it more evident that he's talking about Eminem. "Write my name on your hit list, it might be the last time you wrote something" I believe here NF is referencing the song Ringer from Eminem. The song included a hit list of different rappers that he was attacking. "Rip that cocky smile right off your face for thinking you're close to me" First of all, remember that the word ringer is used to reference somebody who looks or acts similar to someone else. And in the song Ringer, Eminem says that NF is like a recovery clone of him. Here I believe NF is saying that I'll rip that cocky smile right off of your face for thinking you're close to me as a response to Em saying that NF was his clone. Eminem's Kamikaze album also has a song called Not Alike. "Grab a can of gasoline, light it all over your self-esteem" Now let's go back to the song Forgot about Dre by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem. In this song Eminem's first verse includes the following line: "And when the cops came through Me and Dre stood next to a burnt down house With a can full of gas and a hand full of matches And still weren't found out" In NF's verse I believe he's referencing back to this song where Eminem was featured and was talking about holding a can full of gas. I believe NF is saying to take that gas and pour it all over your self-esteem. Here's the next line: "Selfishly, watching y'all helplessly pretend you're on my planet Shoot you out of the sky like you're punchlines, you are not landing" Eminem's album is called Kamikaze. Kamikaze is defined as: (in World War II) a Japanese aircraft loaded with explosives and making a deliberate suicidal crash on an enemy target. So NF says he is going to shoot him out of the sky like punchlines he's not landing. If you shoot a kamikaze pilot out of the sky, he won't land on you and kill you…he's not landing, like his punchlines. So taking into consideration that all of these things were within a few lines of each other in the song, I feel like this is definitely a reference to Eminem. if it had been just one or two of these, that would be one thing, but it was all of these references together that really makes me believe that NF was referencing Eminem. However, I do not believe that this was a personal attack toward Eminem but rather a respectful battle rap style response.
Every one of those I have written about in different reactions, good to see someone put everything together in one collection of evidence. I doubt it’s a diss, but strongly believe it’s at LEAST a reference or call-out.
@@KnoxHill As as VERY amateur rapper like myself, I often find it fascinating to try to find hidden meaning in lines to inspire my own - even if there really end up being nothing :'(

Em said yeah I gotta couple of screws loose, but know worse then what's going on in your parents bedroom! And the HOPE YOU LIKE IT! that EM has said a lot in songs. Dude NF is other worldly. I feel like he has an enormous amount of talent I have honesty never herd from any other artist to date. "Real Music" with out a doubt me favorite clever clean meaningful outstanding artist ever. Much love and appreciation for all his honesty in every line.
You have the best reactions because out of everyone ive seen, you see how complex he is. Others do but they miss so much. I watch others and im like "But you missed this and that" you catch the things im waiting for the others to point out...got a new sub here
“Real scary, Carrie (carry) the verse.” He’s carrying a verse. Also, Carrie is a horror (scary...) movie where an outcast gets bullied by her school and comes back and murders everyone. IE Nate is an outcast because he doesn’t swear, doesn’t flex etc. etc. but he’s murdering verses and the game. No one has picked up on this. I’m 98 percent sure it was a double meaning with the movie Carrie AND........ “Oh lord they know me so well” like with the trash bag is another reference to a song by NF NF-Oh Lord
I like this catch. Another thing that no one picks up in Returns besides the quadruple entendre that is the title "Returns" NF RETURNS to Rapping with the Search album, NF RETURNS the shot's Em launched at him in Kamikaze's Ringer, NF's RETURNS ( i.e. money he makes off of his raps) They fuck with Eminem's returns. That is why Nate ends the song the way he does... Finally RETURNS is another way to say recycled. EM says not in so many words lol That NF is just a clone or a recycled Recovery version of himself. But the title is not what i wanted to point out. In the line "There ain't no I in Team but Drop the T&A if im being honest feels like its only me" T&A typically stands for Tits & Ass. NF doesn't rap that sexists masagny. Thats why he DROPS THE t&a and it FEELS like its only him. Only Nate in the Rap game that doesn't have a "DROP it like it's hot" Or "FEELING on your Booty" Type song. Those song where just examples. If you ask me this entire song is a masterful response to Eminem. They're is a lot more going on between these two OCD induced lyrical miracle writers of Rap... What do you think?
@@nic-d3298 I think giving the title that extensive of a meaning is a bit of a stretch. Nate hasn't really talked a lot or flexed about money in his stuff so I think the "NF's returns", relating to him making money off of his raps is a bit far reached. And I also don't think that the title implies him firing back at EM. If Nate himself says that it wasn't a diss towards the man, I don't think you can say that the title is meant to be interpreted as him returning shots. I mean it definitely can be interpreted that way, don't get me wrong, but I don't give it that meaning personally. But I do like your interpretation of the TEAM-scheme with the T&A and what they typically stand for, I think that makes a whole lot of sense if you think about it, so probs to you for catching and elaborating on that. I really liked that.
Listen closely after the drop the t and a in team part, it talks about “right my name on ur diss strack, gun jammed referring to Eminem’s gun that he mentions and other things...he’s not hating on him but saying that he can’t shoot at him bc he got “special fans not like his”
Drop the t and a, gun jamming refers to killshot, punchlines not landing is reference to kamikaze, hit list is kamikaze, and the “my musics superb” flow is the same flow as the song kamikaze
Could you react to NF "All I have" its hard to pick out a favorite song of his because I like them all but this one shows his true emotion just like with his song "How could you leave us" ( tissues needed) thanks
5:10 IMO, you’re correct about his dropping the T&A meaning to be “ME.” He even mentions, “There’s no “I” in team...” but people forget that there’s an “M” & “E”!
Great reaction...probably the best i have heard. This is one of the most interesting and powerful raps...peace, love and joy. Check out the other subtle mentions of em throughout NF’S catalogue. There are several. Also, it is too much of a coincidence of mentions...shoot out the sky...t e a m...
Wasnt a sneak my man. Read that line from 7 ringer if u have to. But no I wouldn't take it as a diss.. but more of a call out. If anything he complimented NF by saying a clone is just as good as him. The other rappers got much heated disses
On The Ringer alone he has plenty of lines with double meanings like that targeted at different people. If that’s a sneak diss he does it all the time. “Magazine can take Staples out” is a good example.
YES!! These beats!! NF and Tommee Proffit are a match made in heaven!!! Btw...this is not an EM diss. If NF is going to diss someone (which is really not like him...but never say never)....his personality is one that just won't hold back, if he disses...it will be very clear who he says it to and very clear in what he wants to say! Also, he would call Eminem a jerk directly if he thought he was, but that's VERY MUCH not his style. People like to set up disses that don't exist - they have no lives.
NF intentionally wrote it so it can be interpreted multiple ways. It can be listened to as a song addressing haters in general, but it can also be listened to as a response (not diss) to Em. NF is a perfectionist so he wouldn't have had it spell EM for no reason, his music is proof-read and he knows exactly what he's doing. He goes on to say "I've patiently been waiting, please, I think it's time for my turn" and "Just let me be, eventually someday they'll see what I'm worth". That's a message to any of his haters and Em surely heard it too because he basically listens to all lyricist hip-hop.
If you didn't catch it, that bit about the trash bag is referring to his song "Oh Lord" which is just an amazing track as well. It really shows the kind of person he is and if you haven't listened to it yet I highly recommend it.

There have been several moments where they take shots at each other but leave me alone is directed to em and to me the ringing in the begging of the song and at the end is where you really see that it em he's talking to , in the song he says fame called and talks about what seems to be there interaction and I believe that the handing the couple balloons at the end is him stating he is no longer afraid to go head to head because he has respected him for so long but now seeing that he is taking direct shots at him he's making the statement that its now on and he aint scared no more.
I feel like NF isn’t really dissing Eminem because he is just talking about his life in a different way than his other songs. He’s just being himself and he is doing what he feels is best for his songs and listeners.
Knox hill where he dissed em is where he says write my name on your hit list it might be the last time you wrote something. Cause em has a hit list for rappers to diss. Hope this helps
Hey man. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos of NF. I didn’t see that you have reacted to a couple I have in mind. “Real”, “Outro” (which I think contains more of an Em diss than Returns), and “No Name”. Heavy hitters as I call them. Love what you do though and how you break down the lyrics and videos!
Shoot you out of the sky- reference to Eminem in kamikazi because kamikazi is a plane. “Gun jamming” - reference to ems Killshot record.. he is so slick with it people barely notice those little shots at em
Wait.. and I could be wrong.. NF says in outro from perception album " thats bcuz Im no rap god no need to bow down on me" Thats a humble brag n jab at eminem. So maybe Eminem heard this and returned it on the ringer while heavily dissing a bunch of others too And now NF is responding back with some of these lines with this song..
I think it was his way of saying I ain't like the other rappers you dissed I can hold my ground and fire back. So instead of it being a diss he's basically said your not gonna win it this time and showed him why.
"There ain't no I in team, but drop the T and A Sometimes, if I'm being honest, feels like it's only me No defeat, notably, better have it right if you're quoting me Write my name on your hit list, it might be the last time you wrote something"
Shoot you out of the sky (referring to Kamikaze album) like your punchlines you are not landing (refering to Em's line 'aN eFfing recovery clone of me')
Listening to it over and over I feel like it is a Eminem response for some reason the line “You got fans, not like I do” really stood out to me. He’s Christian his crowd is different, Eminem is from a different perspective of rap. On top of his comments of being cocky, an just wearing his merch on your arrogant turf, he’s a fan of Eminem but will wear his merch on his turf it just all clicks to me . Everyone I’ve watched called Eminem’s kamikaze album a hitlist, in which Eminem wrote nf’s name on it by dissing him. That could also go toward “write my name on a hit list it’ll be the last time you wrote something” I dunno I definitely feel a lot of hints toward em.
Where he said "write my name on your hit list it might be the last thing you wrote something" was the eminem diss... Em's song where he dissed everyone including NF was Em's hit list nf said dont write my name there cuz i'll fuck u up basically
I don't know if you know this already, but I heard nf one time talk about how he records and produces almost all of his songs with someone named Tommy ,and he said Tommy also does a lot of movie soundtrack type stuff, so that's how nf also gets his signature cinematic sound in his music as well. Fun fact 😊
I might be a little late on this but Nate is saying dropping the t and the a which is also “ta” which literally means “thank you” and if he is dropping the “ta” for “em” than he is not thanking him for anything, or this can also mean that he is just thanking eminem for dropping a line about him.
2 years later will knox see this comment and like it?!?!?!?!?! Still on of my favorite reactions from you! Throw a like if knox reactions are so good you can watch them multiple times with ease
I never saw this as a response, Knox. Maybe to nate's haters, but not to marshall. I'll point out why i think so here. The T and A line is about nate feeling alone, he is the outcast after all, and he said in a song before "You feel alone? Yeah I kinda feel alone." Which is from "when I grow up". "Drop the T and A sometimes if I'm being honest feels like it's only ME". "Write my name on your hit list it might be the last time you wrote something" is Nate talking about all his haters saying rude stuff and sending him death threats. "HOW YOU GON' WRITE ME AND TELL ME YOU SLAUGHTER MY FAMILY? THAT'S JUST A GLIMPSE OF THE STUFF THAT GETS SENT TO ME!" - NF, Therapy Session "Shoot you out of the sky, like your punch lines you are not landing" isn't referencing the kamikaze plane. For one, why shoot a kamikaze out of the sky? It's gunning for you anyway. 2nd, it's nate basically saying his haters words don't mean squat to him and he's gonna expose them for it and discredit them, or something like that. "Rip that cocky smile right off your face for thinking you're close to me." well, Nate has a black joker smile smeared on his face in videos often, likely to represent a fake smile, so he's maybe talking about himself, or telling his haters to quit acting so cocky thinking they're getting to him when they aren't, or he's saying they aren't at his level and to quit acting like they are. Also the funeral bit is just referencing an older song of his called "Oh Lord". On a side note, He's gotten better at rapping.
I myself don't see how eminem saying that NF is a clone of him is a diss he may have meant it to be a diss but if I was NF I'd think that, that would be a good thing being a clone of the G.O.A.T I'm juss sayin
Everyone says its not a diss, but listen to the lyrics! Eminem called NF "N Effing clone of me" in Returns NF says "Im generic you sure?" Kamikaze had Kill shot and the ringer but the cover art is a plane "Shoot you out of the sky like your punchlines you are not landing" referring to the art "Gun jamming" killshot didnt get him. Another thing Eminem asked rappers to bring him something with depth before trying to go after him. Bring real lyrics to the table. NF says "Brought you something hope you like it"
This is probably a stretch but I feel like when he says “drop the T and A sometimes it feels like it’s only me” is referring to how he’s not a clone of Eminem it’s just him
Its not only that... theres SO MANY references to Eminem lyrics that go back to so long ago. Eminem rap god, "Shoot you out of the sky". "Take a can of gasoline and put it all over your self esteem" makes reference to Forgot About Dre. "Get that cocky smile off of your face", Eminem's cocky smile. "Gun jamming", reference to Killshot. "Write my name on your hitlist, it might be the last time you write something", Eminem has said multiple times that he can just write a hitlist of artist to blackbomb so they get off the scene. "Show up to my funeral wearing all black", Eminem is always dressing in black these days, at the time this was made.
The diss wasn't in the TEAM bar,it was in the "Punch lines not landing, gun jamming"reffering to the punch line "NF-ing recovery" and the "gun jamming" to Killshot
“I look around and wonder where my fans at, ‘Oh Lord’ they know me so well, they know I’m not in that casket, trash bag is prolly buried somewhere full of my ashes” he’s referring to his song Oh Lord “when I die, put my ashes in the trash bag”

@@Fluffytiger-qp4xo Facts. Yes. Great observation my friend
Yeah I agree with you 100% even Nate in an interview says there was a 1-2 year time period were all he listen to only Marshall so he definitely has some respect for this man
yeah, i think he's not trying to diss eminem but sating that him and em arent the same since em says in the ringer "recovery clone of me". he MAY be adressing that
Rebecca Lafortune well Christ on a crooked cross, will some one come get the crazy lady...
"Pushing forward, look, I can't ignore it
There ain't no I in team, but drop the T and A"
I believe what NF is saying here is that he's pushing forward but he can't ignore the mention of him in the song Ringer by Eminem.
"Sometimes, if I'm being honest, feels like it's only me
No defeat, notably, better have it right if you're quoting me"
I disagree that he would be using those letters in the word me instead. He's too much of a Lyricist to do that without talking about reversing it. But let's go on to exam the next couple of lines which make it more evident that he's talking about Eminem.
"Write my name on your hit list, it might be the last time you wrote something"
I believe here NF is referencing the song Ringer from Eminem. The song included a hit list of different rappers that he was attacking.
"Rip that cocky smile right off your face for thinking you're close to me"
First of all, remember that the word ringer is used to reference somebody who looks or acts similar to someone else.
"Grab a can of gasoline, light it all over your self-esteem"
Now let's go back to the song Forgot about Dre by Dr. Dre featuring Eminem. In this song Eminem's first verse includes the following line:
"And when the cops came through
Me and Dre stood next to a burnt down house
With a can full of gas and a hand full of matches
And still weren't found out"
In NF's verse I believe he's referencing back to this song where Eminem was featured and was talking about holding a can full of gas. I believe NF is saying to take that gas and pour it all over your self-esteem.
Here's the next line:
"Selfishly, watching y'all helplessly pretend you're on my planet
Shoot you out of the sky like you're punchlines, you are not landing"
Eminem's album is called Kamikaze.
I know right lol. This is one hell of an analysis
Great analysis and perspective on it all! Thanks for taking the time to put this all together and share 🙌
@@KnoxHill As as VERY amateur rapper like myself, I often find it fascinating to try to find hidden meaning in lines to inspire my own - even if there really end up being nothing :'(
Everything he says can be linked to mm Recovery album from start to finish and other of EMs songs also like screws are loose need EM tightened. Em said yeah I gotta couple of screws loose, but know worse then what's going on in your parents bedroom! And the HOPE YOU LIKE IT! that EM has said a lot in songs. Definitely RETURNS to recovery clone.
When he says “Where my fans at?” Oh Lord, they know me so well, they know I’m not in that casket, trash bag is prolly buried somewhere full of my ashes. That is a reference to his song “Oh Lord”.
Didn’t even catch that - thanks for pointing it out!
Yep, good ear! If you listen to his songs enough, you will instantly catch these references❤️
NF is one of the best rappers I've ever heard he makes sure that every word is heard it's not blurred or disturbed by the sound of the beat he is fresh right off the beat that's the way rap should sound 👌🔥
“Heard” “sure” “word” “heard”(again) “blurred” “disturbed”

You have the best reactions because out of everyone ive seen, you see how complex he is. Others do but they miss so much. I watch others and im like "But you missed this and that" you catch the things im waiting for the others to point out...got a new sub here
“Real scary, Carrie (carry) the verse.”
He’s carrying a verse.
I’m 98 percent sure it was a double meaning with the movie Carrie
AND........
“Oh lord they know me so well” like with the trash bag is another reference to a song by NF
NF-Oh Lord
I like this catch. Another thing that no one picks up in Returns besides the quadruple entendre that is the title "Returns"
NF RETURNS to Rapping with the Search album,
NF RETURNS the shot's Em launched at him in Kamikaze's Ringer,
NF's RETURNS ( i.e. money he makes off of his raps)
They fuck with Eminem's returns. That is why
Nate ends the song the way he does...
Finally
RETURNS is another way to say recycled. EM says not in so many words lol
That NF is just a clone or a recycled Recovery version of himself.
Only Nate in the Rap game that doesn't have a
"DROP it like it's hot"
Or
"FEELING on your Booty"
Type song.
Those song where just examples.
If you ask me this entire song is a masterful response to Eminem. They're is a lot more going on between these two OCD induced lyrical miracle writers of Rap...
What do you think?
@@nic-d3298 well analysed! You should have posted this as comment not as a reply.
Oh Shit, I've never picked up on this!
Nobody:
Knox: bobs his head double time to a slow beat. 😂
Two words *CUT TIME*
Listen closely after the drop the t and a in team part, it talks about “right my name on ur diss strack, gun jammed referring to Eminem’s gun that he mentions and other things...he’s not hating on him but saying that he can’t shoot at him bc he got “special fans not like his”
It's not a diss track
Dude stop reaching if NF was gonna diss em he would be direct about it
Luigi1k3 yeah
Drop the t and a, gun jamming refers to killshot, punchlines not landing is reference to kamikaze, hit list is kamikaze, and the “my musics superb” flow is the same flow as the song kamikaze
He literally said “The Ringer’’ which is where the diss on NF was from

Wasnt a sneak my man. Read that line from 7 ringer if u have to. But no I wouldn't take it as a diss.. but more of a call out. If anything he complimented NF by saying a clone is just as good as him. The other rappers got much heated disses

Man what a great breakdown. Thanks for all the background too.

Hey Knox. The drop the AT and it's only ME, followed by the fact NF said in the next bar, that 'there's no cloning me' definitely addresses the eminem aN eFfing recovery Clone of me diss homie... I feel like if Nate was gonna fire shots at anyone (especially Em) there wouldn't be a question. It wouldn't be "open to interpretation" it would be deliberate and clear.

Thank you for not jumping on that wagon 🙏
Almost every other reactor just stops it after the T and A line and jumps to “it’s an Em diss!!”

i have litrally watched this 28 times now
Rapping to the part of the song in the intro is the most satisfying 30 odd seconds of the song
This is a treat

Hey man. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos of NF. Wait.. and I could be wrong.. NF says in outro from perception album " thats bcuz Im no rap god no need to bow down on me"
Thats a humble brag n jab at eminem. So maybe Eminem heard this and returned it on the ringer while heavily dissing a bunch of others too
And now NF is responding back with some of these lines with this song..
I think it was his way of saying I ain't like the other rappers you dissed I can hold my ground and fire back. So instead of it being a diss he's basically said your not gonna win it this time and showed him why.

Shoot you out of the sky (referring to Kamikaze album) like your punchlines you are not landing (refering to Em's line 'aN eFfing recovery clone of me')
“Write my name on your hit list” is where I took him giving a warning shot.
Yall know when he starts talking about the spacing/breathing "Gun jamming" Is a reference to killshot
Listening to it over and over I feel like it is a Eminem response for some reason the line
“You got fans, not like I do” really stood out to me.
“aN eFFing recovery clone of me”
“but drop the T and A
Sometimes, if I'm being honest, feels like it's only me”
I dunno 🤷🏻♂️

Ffs why does everyone say NF dissed Eminem, constant fishing for controversy 🙄🙄
NF did not fiss Em, but he clearly throw back at Em said to him in Ringer its the same thinh

THAT'S JUST A GLIMPSE OF THE STUFF THAT GETS SENT TO ME!" - NF, Therapy Session
"Shoot you out of the sky, like your punch lines you are not landing" isn't referencing the kamikaze plane.
NF has the best flows
I myself don't see how eminem saying that NF is a clone of him is a diss he may have meant it to be a diss but if I was NF I'd think that, that would be a good thing being a clone of the G.O.A.T I'm juss sayin
Hell yeah
Everyone says its not a diss, but listen to the lyrics! Eminem called NF "N Effing clone of me" in Returns NF says "Im generic you sure?" Kamikaze had Kill shot and the ringer but the cover art is a plane "Shoot you out of the sky like your punchlines you are not landing" referring to the art "Gun jamming" killshot didnt get him. Another thing Eminem asked rappers to bring him something with depth before trying to go after him. Bring real lyrics to the table. NF says "Brought you something hope you like it"
This is probably a stretch but I feel like when he says “drop the T and A sometimes it feels like it’s only me” is referring to how he’s not a clone of Eminem it’s just him
NF actually respects Eminem, and used to listen to his music. From what I heard, it doesn't really sound like him
Its not only that... theres SO MANY references to Eminem lyrics that go back to so long ago.
Also after you watch all of the intros and earlier videos if you watch outro realllllyyyyyy pay attention to all the props 😊
The diss wasn't in the TEAM bar,it was in the "Punch lines not landing, gun jamming"reffering to the punch line "NF-ing recovery" and the "gun jamming" to Killshot
Right before the ME/EM thing, he says” The Ringer I ain’t seen”, The Ringer is where EM dissed NF
So it may just be a diss at Eminem
He says "there aint no I in TEAM"
