After 5 weeks, its all done. The song is finally out. The video is finally out. Now I can finally rest.

I agree that color bass is a super cool genre! I never really thought of vocoding a bass with chords before, but after hearing it for the first time I knew I had to try it out and see what it's like, and it's super cool!

This is a much better tutorial than mine LOL. Really appreciate how you nail down the basics pretty well and are sprinkling some theory and stuff in it too! One thing I would suggest to anyone new in the genre is def trying to combine a multitude of different "colorizing" techniques to create more unique sounds. One of my favorites is pitchmapping a sound and then very slightly vocoding it to give it a melody rather than being static. Definitely something I would reccomend trying, and good luck on yall's color bass endevors!

Curious how you got your voice so punchy on the outro. Distortion and some bass boost filter on the vocal? 12:25
Ive got an OTT with normal settings and an eq with boosts at 300Hz and 3000Hz. I think the Serum FX bitcrusher i have on it (with 21% drive) is doing a lot of the work in terms of making the voice audible because the added frequencies from said bitcrusher dont have any competing frequencies in the piano or the synth lead in the same section. Other than that I formant shifted my voice down 3 semitones and pitched it down 9, and also made it mono.
2:41 How do you reset the sound when the E5 note is played twice?
in serum above the portamento knob, turn the "always" button off. Ive got notes at my starting frequency, then another at my end frequency, with the start time of that end frequency note offset slightly. The end note is cut off before the beginning of the next start frequency. This all allows the sound you heard.
