    Nice to see. I just came back from Oymyakon and spend newyears eve overthere. Didn't swing, but did get my certifigate. Bought rendeer-boots in Aimia, because my Mendle mountain shoes got frozen below -30C. Further more giving lectures at schools all around the republic Sakia. Thanks for your publication.

    What is the coldest temperature in oymyakon in the winter. You guys should invest in two absolute zero down suits to put over the layers that you have on. Please respond

    5:22 "Ralphie I can't get up! I can't get up!"....... A very nice video, I would love to visit.
    I had that "The North Face" down parka for about a day. I put it on in -20F and my arms were cold, it has no wind skirt in the inner waist area, has faux fur which doesn't go all the way around. I was not happy with it so I took it back after the initial impressions, and told TNF about the experience - they stopped making it. The "Vostok" is what it's called. The body of the garment was warm, but the cold arms was the deal breaker. Vostok Station in Antarctica is run by the Russians, and the 'average' yearly temperature there is -67F. Of course that's an average, and in winter it will drop below -100F there.
    20:22 he pulls out an ice diamond and at 20:25 she is mentally tearing off her mittens woo hoo :-)
    My favorite part is the reindeer :-)

      Could try, wouldn't recomend going straight to oymyakon tho. Dont go further than yakutsk stay in the city. And I recommend not to go on the winter, go in the fall or spring. Still cold but not deadly

    • @violentbug
      @violentbug 4 роки тому +3

      There is a saying in russian language “a true siberian is not someone who doesn’t get cold. A true siberian is someone who dresses well”. If you are properly equipped you’ll be fine. If locals offer you fur coats and boots ACCEPT IT!!! Fur clothing withstands cold so much better than any artificial material. I’ve been to Yakutsk many times and I’ve heard stories about foreigners denying to wear clothes that locals advised (because it was “barbaric”) and they ended up in hospitals. Dress well and you’ll enjoy every second!

    I posted this to another video, but it is the same questions.
    There are a few questions I have. What do they do for entertainment? I would like to see a documentary showing their full year. I want to see summer there and preparation for winter. Then perhaps a full day in the bitter winter. There seems to be so much more to learn. Yakutsk. What kind of work is available? Who has businesses there beyond community serving business? In other words, do they have any companies that bother to set up shop there? Do they have colleges or university there? I wish I could do a documentary that was more comprehensive. Don't think I don't appreciate this video!! I do. If not for this and the 60 Minutes Australian video I wouldn't be wanting to know more. Thank you.
