Uhhh that window reflection is absolutely faszinating! The explanation is actually surprisingly easy: Because the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence, the light rays visible in the reflection on the water were reflected under a different angle by the windows and thus show a different (and higher) part of the sky.
@4th Lensman of the apocalypse I see this in river-side city lights frequently. Streetlights blocked by bridges still have reflections in the river. In this case, ceiling lights might be higher than the window top so not directly visible.
Angle of incidence = angle of reflection…you have x2 mirrors on different angles which are just perfectly positioned to give you a secondary reflection of the sun. So, I have a degree is scientific photography, work for a high-speed cameras manufacturer and am a keen film landscape photographer, but I watch your videos to find out what brand of kettle you have…I’ve asked x4 times and never got an answer. Nice way to keep your subscribers… Seriously though, love your work 🙂
My favorite photo I took at Kinderdijk was a pano on a Blackberry. Getting out away from the touristy area was the best part. Homes instead of museums.
Nicely done and did I see North Tyne Dock, I once watched someone stumble and drop their camera over the side of a ferry there. Great stuff on the vlog and long May it continue. 👍👏
Hi from Denmark Thomas , i hope you had a great drive through our little piece of a country and got some stunning shots from some of our wonderful places we have here , great video as always 🙂
Thank you for visiting The Netherlands, my home country! Amazing that you went through Hamburg (daughter studying) to Xxxxxx (Erasmus study spot of mine) to buy the Yyyyyy…
Seeing you in the Rotterdam made me very happy. Wish you explored a bit more in the Netherlands, especially during the early foggy morning to capture some shots!
In all honesty, you can NEVER do a piece to camera when someone else is around, and, is a huge reason why we love your vlogs! Love it, and thanks for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.
Wonderful and beautiful images from an epic journey through northern Europe very excited to see what part of my Denmark you will pass through and even more excited to see what beautiful image(s) you will capture from my country 😊
Next time when you're in the northwest of Germany you should make a stopover in Ditzum and the whole area. Very picturesque with dikes and sheeps, little harbours with shrimp cutters and people drinking tea there with a little ceremony and eating fish of course.
Great to see you in Kinderdijk, I come here often because it's only a 25 min bicycle ride from my home. I will have some coffee ready next time you come over to this beautiful place!!
Love this video Thomas. As a full time vanlifer and amateur photographer, it's right up my street. Looking forward to the next one, and also what you get upto with your new camera.
Ha I instantly knew exactly what you were going to get when you mentioned pano! I won't spoil it for others but I look forward to your work with it. Every photographer I know that has used it absolutely love it.
My only objection to this great and fun video is that the guessing the camera was too easy. Agatha Christie would have drawn it out more and made it much trickier. Both the Dutch and the Deutsch shots were great.
I always love your videos, Thomas. I'm a huge fan of your work and love the enthusiasm for your art in every episode. I'm a landscape photographer myself with my own camper but not used her yet. I loved this video .I have to say the house by the windmill perplexed me too but oh what a shot. Loved the staircase shot but I'm astonished how bad the energy crisis has affected Germany and the EU. Looking forward to part two of this journey. Regards and respect-Kenny
A great road trip adventure Thomas, You definitely got the best "Staircase" photographer with Greg, he's captured so many great images of them. Looking forward to next weeks installment. Cheers!
That 1st shot was brilliant just loved the window reflections also the spiral staircase was excellent. Well done Thomas, looking forward to next week to see the new Camera. putting 2 Bob on the Hasselblad.
Most RV campgrounds in the US are car parks with toilettes. That's what an RV campground is. And what were they expecting, herds of wildebeests sweeping across the savanna with Yosemite in the backdrop, in Holland??? The place is flat and underwater.
I love to travel... and having been to Europe many times...i STILL love how easy it is to "drive" from one country to another.. Thanks Thomas... Loved this one.
Swedish Pano with 35mm...? X-Pan or X-Pan II... Been seeing them lately at lower prices than usual. Is the trip already over? There are some places in Denmark and south/South west of Sweden that I think you could do pure magic in!
seems like it, I'll be gobsmacked if it is !!! obviously old Th is becoming a bit of a Hassy Fanboy, cannot blame him, quality and history are up there with the Germans ... showing quite a bit of discerning Taste is Thomas the old bean .... who wouldn't love one of those if you are film shooter and Hassy fan !
Glad to see you're feeling better. avid watcher from the 802 in the U.S.A. love the videos, they're insightful & informative for a novice photographer like myself. 📷📸
Looks like a great fun road trip, the windmills looked like a great location in the right conditions, really liked the couple of shots you got even with the weird reflection. Great to see you meet up with Greg and do some cityscape, what a fantastic staircase , really liked that image. Shame about the lack of illumination for the main image you were after but , sign of the times i guess,
Great shots in each country so far. Love your adventures and finding unique moments like the window reflections by the windmill. Greg is the perfect guide for Hamburg stairs for sure. Thanks for taking us along. It's even fun to get lost with you!
If I had only known that I could have spotted the famous Mitsubishi Delica with F11 HTN plates around the corner here at Kinderdijk... Great shots of the windmills. Both the Lomo square shot and the Nikon shot... Love them! Thank you for keeping us part of your photography journey! Kind greetings from a village near Kinderdijk! ;)
Welcome to my home town Thomas. Of course I understand what camera you are getting. Send my regards to Ove Bengtsson. I used to borrough different cameras from them. I am sure Hasselblad took good care of you. Regards Mats
A very warm „Willkommen in Deutschland“! Nice to have you here! I‘m sure you know that Wetzlar is not in Sweden. Otherwise I would have supposed you‘ re going for the new old Leica M6 with your 35mm film 😉😂
Oh, I love it. Hamburg, my hometown! The staircase is a very popular photo location. I don't get to be there that much any more since I live in the US. Too bad about the diminished lighting even though it causes less light pollution. Those historic harbor warehouses make good subjects. Good seeing Greg, the fifth wheel on the f4.
I wonder what blad camera is made in Sweden 🤔, Now! you're on the right side of the road 😲😂It's great that you were able to stop and have a chat with Greg 👍👍
Great trip, nice to see that you visited my country (NL). I think that you will be getting a Hasselblad XPan, would realy love to see the first picture you will be shooting with it. Have fun!
Good to see Brody McBrah again! Love the staircases. I was just in Amsterdam, wish I had taken a trip to the country and captured a windmill. I like the square, was thinking a landscape, but I like the square. Fun trip. Looking forward to next week.
I love the reflection shot where the reflection has the orange light! If you're ever back in the Netherlands, the dunes are amazing here! For example in the provence Noord-Holland, near Bergen aan Zee or on the islands like Texel and Ameland. And in the provence Drenthe, there's amazing woodlands! Well, I guess every provence has its own beautiful things here!
Hahaha I had the reverse driving problem when I was in Ireland. Kept turning into the righthand lane when I needed to be in the lefthand lane. Luckily no accidents!
I remember a few years ago that Tomas didn't talk about camera gear. Nowadays it feels like he has a new camera in every other video. Times change, I guess. Tips: Hasselblad is Swedish
My advice for landscape photography in the Netherlands (as a resident): De Hoge Veluwe towards Arnhem and Zuid-Limburg in the south of the Netherlands (between Maastricht and Germany) is wonderful.
Funny, when you mentioned Hamburg being dark because of the energy crisis, I immediately thought of Bill Brandt’s images shot in a darkened London during WWII.
First up: Great video as always. Looks fun and I am excited for the next part. Just an FYI if you might not have noticed: When you record with your wireless Rode mics it seems to only be left channel. During your regular driving shots the Audio is fine. But when you have the Rode on it's just left Channel. Might changed something with them or something got messed up in Post :-) But I appreciate the video as always.
How exiting! Hope Sweden treated you right. I don’t know where your going but I’m hoping it’s to the west coast/Gothenburg, it would be wonderful to see photos from here taken by you. Looking forward to next week’s video!
That's awesome. thanks for the explanation 👍👍
SCIENCE!!! 😂😂
7:40 is the point in the video they’re referring to
More likely that the reflections are looking up at the indoor lighting ...
@4th Lensman of the apocalypse I see this in river-side city lights frequently. Streetlights blocked by bridges still have reflections in the river. In this case, ceiling lights might be higher than the window top so not directly visible.
Always seems cool to me as an American how with a relatively short drive you can be in such a different world in Europe.
The title of the video vs the ad in the video. Such great irony but the video makes you realise why the service offered in the ad is awesome.
A Hasselblad obviously!, välkommen! Hope you enjoy it here :)
If it works on the moon, it’ll work anywhere. 😉
Xpan???
No doubts %100 xpan
haha. ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies 😊
Its definitely an XPan. I never thought youd go 35mm!
Well done Thomas, looked like a great adventure. Enjoy your new X-pan!
Haha yep, a Swedish pano for roadtripping and landscape work.....Ill eat my keyboard if I'm wrong.
Welcome to Hamburg ⚓️🏰🎣
Thank you. All the best. 👍👍📷😎
Angle of incidence = angle of reflection…you have x2 mirrors on different angles which are just perfectly positioned to give you a secondary reflection of the sun.

Thanks for the tour.
That's really environmentally caring of you; I'm sure the earth is grateful Thomas.
This is what makes us viewers happy. Thank you man for taking us with this amazing journey. You deserve couple of millions subs already.
Hi from Denmark Thomas , i hope you had a great drive through our little piece of a country and got some stunning shots from some of our wonderful places we have here , great video as always 🙂
Again, an excellent idea for a video. I'm looking forward to watching the next one!
Welcome to Sweden!
And Helsingborg if you have the time!
Oh! Such wonderful news! I've had this camera for 4 years now!
Great watch and lovely photos
You always come across as a pleasant person and I enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the reveal!
I like that you took the long way to Sweden.
I have tears in my eyes...you came to Hamburg and photographed a staircase :D
So cool that you were in the Netherlands Thomas. Say hi on the way back for some coffee 😉
You're trying to buy a specialty film panorama camera, nice.. perhaps a replacement for you big medium format panorama camera or a new model?
Great staircase photo. Visit Lauwersoog and surroundings next time in Holland!
I love that window reflection and staircase photos. And with my cup of coffee, it made my day. Thanks Thomas!
Hasselblad xpan! 🤩
In all honesty, you can NEVER do a piece to camera when someone else is around, and, is a huge reason why we love your vlogs! Love it, and thanks for sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.
In the Netherlands! Finally. With Kinderdijk you haven't even begun to scratch the surface though.... :-)
Greg is my hero 🦸
Cool you're coming to Sweden.
Kinderdijk in the early morning is AWESOME…got some GREAT shots there a few years ago…you must go back!
Wonderful and beautiful images from an epic journey through northern Europe very excited to see what part of my Denmark you will pass through and even more excited to see what beautiful image(s) you will capture from my country 😊

Man as a video creator myself, this was some really great cinema work! The drive-bys, drone by the boat, etc. Nicely done!
Ha I instantly knew exactly what you were going to get when you mentioned pano! I won't spoil it for others but I look forward to your work with it. Every photographer I know that has used it absolutely love it.

Love this video journey - a great format.
Great adventure!!!

That was brilliant Thomas something totally different
From one Brit to another, welcome to Sweden! Feel free to park up on our farm :)
I love to travel... and having been to Europe many times...i STILL love how easy it is to "drive" from one country to another..
Thanks Thomas... Loved this one.
Honey wake up Thomas posted again
That window reflection gives me real glitch in the matrix vibes.
Interesting as always! Now you came to my home district in Sweden! Yesterday I bought your signed calendar from Ingemar and I know why you are here! 😀
The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection! Woo!
Swedish Pano with 35mm...?
X-Pan or X-Pan II...
Been seeing them lately at lower prices than usual. Is the trip already over? There are some places in Denmark and south/South west of Sweden that I think you could do pure magic in!
Yes ... When I saw the 35mm roll of Portra I immediately thought of the X-Pan.
seems like it, I'll be gobsmacked if it is !!! obviously old Th is becoming a bit of a Hassy Fanboy, cannot blame him, quality and history are up there with the Germans ... showing quite a bit of discerning Taste is Thomas the old bean .... who wouldn't love one of those if you are film shooter and Hassy fan !
You live in UK and have never been to the Netherlands. That surprised me. Hope you had a great trip.
And... hope you love that XPAN.
I can not believe it! Thomas Heaton has become a wanderer!
Välkommen till Sverige!
So it's a Hasselblad Xpan 35mm camera : ) Can't wait : )
Welcome to The Netherlands. Kinderdijk is stil on my list to visit. Enjoy the trip.
Fabulous staircase image. Pity about the other shot but now you know where to go when things settle back to normal.
Great to see motivation.
Herzlich Willkommen in Hamburg und gute Weiterfahrt! Viel Spaß mit der Bladen… ;)
No way! It’s got to be a Hasselblad X pan! ❤

I just a lens to MPB based on your recommendation, flawless process, got my deposit this morning 😁

Belated welcome to the Netherlands!
It’s a Hasselblad Xpan Tom. Would love one, but not over my Tomiyama 617. Spill the beans……
Great trip, nice to see that you visited my country (NL). I think that you will be getting a Hasselblad XPan, would realy love to see the first picture you will be shooting with it. Have fun!

Way to leave us with a cliffhanger. Really liked that staircase.
Funny, when you mentioned Hamburg being dark because of the energy crisis, I immediately thought of Bill Brandt’s images shot in a darkened London during WWII.
Ah the Hassalblad X-Pan then !!! 🙂
4:16 didnt see the truck coming xD
Love that i guessed it before making it to the first clue.
First up: Great video as always. Looks fun and I am excited for the next part.

Great cinematography and story telling!
Great to see you and Greg catch up with more photography fun! Love seeing you travel through different countries in the campervan! 🙂📸🇳🇱🇩🇪🇸🇪
Absolutely agree!
Fantastic Video as always, i didn't know the staircase, next time in Hamburg i will also check it out.
How exiting! Hope Sweden treated you right. I don’t know where your going but I’m hoping it’s to the west coast/Gothenburg, it would be wonderful to see photos from here taken by you. Looking forward to next week’s video!
Gotta be an Xpan! Gotta say I'm extremely jealous!!
Ah man just found this channel. Miss my Delica, would have another one tomorrow. Awesome video!
Great video and images 👍🏻 can’t waite for next weeks video .
Brilliant Tom
Oh, to be on a road trip!
