  • By request, here I am to help those needing help creating a simple 1950’s inspired Constance Spry design of dried poppy pods, dried hydrangea and a few daisies & a few sprigs of honesty.
This is a beautiful little design that would look lovely resting on a mantel, side board or a space that needs a little attention or filling. The design is small and doesn’t require much to achieve impact.
    You will need:
    - A vintage boat vase.
    - Chicken mess to fill.
    - Lots of dried off poppy pods.
    - A large dried and dyed green hydrangea head.
    - Several stems of daises.
    - A few stems of honesty or similar.

I really like the "Honesty". I've always called them "Paper Dollars". They are so pretty and dainty. It all came together quite nicely. Thank you for sharing.

Hello Astar~ First you got me hooked on all-green floral designs. Then, more recently, green and white. This is fab! Especially as I’m looking to put a green and white design in my dining room for the spring / summer season. Time to hunt out a vintage “boat.” Thank you for sharing this! 💖
I’ve been researching Constance Spry as I like what you’ve said about her and her design philosophies. Anything you do to help me understand I find helpful as I look for her books… so thank you doubly for this. 💖💖

That’s gawgus! I’ve still not used my boat vase like that from the antique shop! Now I’ve got some blooms in the garden I’ll have to get a shift on and try it out! 🎉

I was a bit worried when that hydrangea popped out, haha! But it all came together in the end (or course it did!), and looked really beautiful! Almost like a little piece of meadow came inside 🌼 The poppy pods are very cool! We all enjoy watching you work and figure things out! Makes it all feel much more approachable 🙏🏻

Thanks Jesse, I think that this is the best way to teach and inspire. Not everything goes to plan, so if it looks like disaster happened or is about to happen, DON'T panic, just come at it from another angle. Nothing perfect in the botanical world & we must just go with the flow. Warm regards Astar

Are the poppy pods real or are they artificial?

Hi Anna, the poppies are real and dried off from last season. Hope this helps Astar

    I like your channel
But I find that her energy is just all over the place and it would be best served if you could breathe and bring it back to the center
I also wish that you cut flowers rather than artificial
