Would seriously appreciate an update on Theia, it's been a year. People are excited and would like to support the new technology, however for people waiting to purchase a detector, an update regarding release projection would be beneficial.
You asked for suggested features. I'd like to have GPS speed based auto quiet setting independent for Ka and K. For instance I want to hear Ka even if I am at a stop light, but I want to mute K band below15 mph. That would be a good feature to add in a future FW update if possible. Also the same for auto-mute, have that setting independent based on the band. Edit- And maybe instead of total mute, have option for just lowering volume of alert below a certain speed.
I just want to say you guys are the best . I been driving alot the last few days. I have the settings on the ds1 ka wideband, k extended, ka pop on , and this detector is super fast with instant on . Iam really impressed you don't have to segment this detector

My original Escort Redline died last week after 12 years of service. Escort doesn't service them anymore. Replaced it with a DS1. So far so good. USB-C is a welcome plug. I had to re-crimp RJ-11 plugs so many times.
Congrats on the new release full of thoughtful features. It has BT 5.0. Maybe an update could allow two DS1s to communicate for ghetto arrows. Sure, the R7 or G2 would be cheaper than 2 DS1s but some might like the Radenso approach better.
Hello crew, I have been waiting for the next alert on when this device was stepping into the market place but for some reason, I never received anything after 2020. Hate that cause I had no idea that it was out. It looks very nice and sounds even better but as suggestions go, I'd LOVE to see arrows somewhere on the device. I'm a long time V1 user and they have become my way of life. If there's anyway to implement that into a newer model I'm in. Thanks for all the video's, enjoyed them all so far and can't wait to get my hands on one of these. Thanks for all your hard work through the Covid times and it's good to see your new baby finally in the market place.
I’ve seen one test with it and it’s impressive. So far that performance plus features makes this detector look pretty darn good. You’ve got my attention.
Made in South Korea by Attowave who is owned by Uniden, performance very similar to the new Uniden R4 but with different features and less filtering , hmm... what a coincidence, don't think so!
Finally! No videos in months, and then a bombshell! I was starting to lose hope. My daughter wants my XP. Guess I can send it to her in September. Then when Theia comes out, my son can have the DS1.
What's going on with the price jump on the DS1? Finally decided to grab one and noticed the $70 price increase. Just thought it was a big jump in price. Now I'm back on the fence about switching from my R7. Bummer
DS1 false more on K band than some of your competitor and Ka detection not as good as the Uniden R4 but very similar if not identical to the Uniden R8 on Ka detection. The Radenso DS1 is a very good radar detector, hopefully future firmware updates will help?
I realize this isn’t common here in the U.S. but it is incredibly popular in many cities in Iowa. Gatso detection would be great. Local PDs use fixed and mobile photo radar with Gatso RT-2 and RT-3 antennas. It’s very directional, low power K band that is near impossible for regular detectors to pickup with any range that would be helpful. There is also Falcon HR in use. I was really looking forward to having or being able to “learn” the Gatso into Theia.
Preordered mine yesterday from your website. Already getting a good feeling about it. My friend has the the Ranedso Pro M and is very satisfied with his. I was originally interested in the R7 but when I found out about the Ds1 from Vortex videos It seemed like the better choice especially at the price. I love the consumer feedback approach!
I am on the fence. I want the Theia, and I don't want to buy the DS1, and then the Theia comes out a week later. It would be nice if Radenso had an upgrade program. But I could see the difficulty in that strategy. I wish they had a better grasp of when the Theia will be available to the public. But they don't, and I may buy the Radenso DS1 and sell it on eBay or something when Theia comes out.
I get having arrows is a big deal to some people. I honestly used to be the same way because I used a V1 for over a decade. But after I’ve seen long range detectors detect rear threats I haven’t cared about arrows. All personal preference though! -Randy

Mindy, you apologized for the sticky suction cup mount. That to me is an excellent feature of the mount in that it will work on the frit. Most standard suction cups will not work well on frit, but this one rocks! My only complaint with this suction cup mount is the size. I've always mounted my detectors as high as possible for 3 important reasons. This mount is so large, it prevents me from doing that. My DS1 is approximately 1" lower than my XP was. I did have to customize the mount on the XP as it wouldn't stay on the frit, so I removed the cups and used 3m double stick mounting tape directly to the frit. So if you made lower profile suction cup out of the same materials, I would be all about that!
@@RadensoRadar Interesting. I guess I'm confused as to who would spend $449 for the pro m instead of $399 for this since as far as I can tell aside from design the DS1 is the better detector in every way as far as I can tell from looking at both product pages.
Another question is with auto lock out let's say hypothetically there is a police cruiser that knows that this might be an auto lock out spot, would it still pick up that police radar in that lockout spot?
The way the lockouts work (manual and auto) is it will record the frequency signal and GPS coordinates. If you drive into the lockout area and the DS1 is picking up a different signal than what was locked out, you will receive that alert as normal.

Radar dummy here. I have never owned a radar detector, but I bought a Tesla 2021 last year and I have already gotten 2 tickets. My main question is does each individual band setting have to be on to detect that specific setting, or can it detect any setting at any time while driving? Meaning if there's a laser pointed at me, and there is a radar pointed at me a mile down the road would it detect both without changing any settings?
Hey Marc! Those are some really good questions. To answer your main question; yes, the band setting does need to be on in order to detect it. The ability to turn bands on or off helps eliminate false alerts if the area that you are using the detector in does not use a specific band. As for the second part of your question, the DS1 has the option to prioritize alerts either by band or signal. By default, it is set to band so it starts from X, K, Ka, Laser. If you had all of the bands on, it say you are being hit by Ka, but at the same time laser is present, it will display laser as it is higher on the priority list. As others I am considering this one for a motorcycle setup. Wondering if I can use my existing USB outlet and connect a cell phone type USB-C cable to power the DS1, or maybe it needs more juice?
Looks like a great detector and very competitive product. Very cool to see what your engineering has done for range. Im thinking of the hardwire cable, mostly for Theia... Can the mute button button be easily disassembled for panel mounting? The LED on the mute controller... is it RED only? Is it safe to assume it lights for all alerts? It would be fantastic if the device could be easily disassembled for a more custom installation. Also, assuming the detector offers a "stealth mode" / display off option, it would be nice if the LED was RGB configurable to different colors depending on the alert, and patterns for either ramp up or band. Configurable LED brightness would also be a plus. For less custom installations, a mounting clip for the mute controller could be useful.

If I want to create a 3d-printed *magnetic* mount, will specs be available? (standard "pause the print and embed magnets, then resume to cover them up" technique. which polarity/where/etc?) Willl the magnetic mount be compatible with future high-end detectors?
Will probably be easier for you to purchase a DS1 just in case but the mount is a standard 1/4-20 threaded hole. Yes, DS1 accessories will be compatible with Theia. Be sure to check out our new website for more info on that!
Congratulations, great looking new detector! Looks like Vortex really likes it based on his early testing. I've promoted this as an excellent alternative to the PCA Polar Region members (Porsche) until the Theia is finally released. 👍 The 1/4-20 threaded mount is such a great idea which I'm hoping will also be included on the Theia? 🤔
On my R3, I like to run in dark mode so it only lights up with an alert. However, I can’t seem to auto adjust the brightness of the alert itself. I manually go in and change the brightness based on day or night. Would be nice to have dark mode that auto adjusts brightness of alerts based on time of day. Maybe this has that, but if not, it would be nice.
Any chance we’ll get a remote theia soon after the windshield version since the first version has been delayed for so long due to the shortage as it is?
With the flexibility of the mounting system, and you mention using it on a motorcycle, will it be water resistant? Or any warranty issues if a motorcyclist got stuck in a rain storm?
It is not water resistant and water damage isn’t covered under warranty. We would love for it to be water resistant but the cost would probably triple to make that happen. There are companies that make waterproof boxes though! -Randy

I had a Valentine 1 and sold it. I just ordered my DS1 because detector range trumps arrows. I fee ear;y detection is more important that knowing what direction the radar is coming from. Arrows are nice but they don't reduce your chances of getting a ticket.. Early detection gives you a better advantage . That was my logic. Purchased mine from crutchfield
There will not be a DS1 with arrows. Radenso Theia will be our next windshield radar detector with arrows and is a completely different product hardware and price wise. Also, we still have no ETA on Theia due to the global parts shortage. -Randy

Hi...@@lfsracer79 you got a point there, Western Australia is the only state that radar detectors are legal to use and every other state in Australia radar detectors are illegal but as long as its undetectable to all the spectre models some of us still use them anyway, But Europe should definitely be able to buy this DS1 or any other radar detectors as the market is much bigger over there, here in Australia is pretty much fucked they screw you here in every possible way they can for most people but I'm always a step ahead of them.

It would be nice if the radar detector goes to standby power mode after 10 minutes and powers up as soon as it detects movement. There are many old cars that the accessories power is not turned when the car is not running.

Excellent range and other features, very nice. But To bad the BSM is still not great. Seems pretty noisy watching other reviews and still using K notch filters. I guess that may be asking to much vs what a higher end detector brings or what Theia will (hopefully) be... That really is my biggest pet peave with any detector. Hopefully you can improve that!
Please make a Motorcycle Grade unit that can stand to be in the weather with similar features to this DS-1 with the addition of Bluetooth for sending alerts to Cardo-Scala and similar headsets. There is a Motorcycle unit out there with a terrible problem of BSM false alerts. Also It should also work with the HEAT alert helmet LED units and similar. There is a huge market of motorcycle riders that are craving such a unit. Put me on the list as a buyer for your first version.
Unfortunately making a portable waterproof radar detector would be insanely expensive and not profitable. Our suggestion would be to purchase a hidden system like our Radenso RC M and you would only need to enclose the small RC M display. Thanks! -Randy
I use a DFR7 on my bars. I just make it so I can easily take it off and stick in in my pocket or a bag in the rain. But yeah waterproof detector would be cool. I have waterproofed electronics before though with conformal coating, but the warranty would be gone and it may not work or may wreck the detector. I bet it would be possible though.

When they can get chips I’m guessing. But I’m gonna wait for Theia. So far red line doing me fine. And just hard mounted in the truck. I live by the radar living in Canada having radar now coming out of the cameras. On the lights
Chip shortage probably gonna last another 1-2 years. I find it hard to believe that if theia will actually be possible that one of the other radar companies hasn't already come out with it

I bought one a year ago and it had a segment problem with 35.5..I returned it to best buys..I bought one 3 weeks ago from Cincinnati...compared to a r4 it has the slightest drop in sensitively..if it had laser ID it would be even or better in every other category. My r4 and r8 dont block out k band signals but the ds1 does..my r4 and r8 still doesn't have a working auto dimmer ...I have experience with Cincinnati detectors since 1986 and this ds1 is excellent...to bad vortex guy really doesn't love it anymore..he says get the r4... Next subject is you drinking a monster energy drink in private and on this video...the symbols on the can in Hebrew mean six six six..it can't be refuted..term monster is biblical the term release the beast is biblical..some cans have a upside down cross..your making a mistake putting that can in your video..another item about the r4 .its screen goes to a ugly fade in a year..so literally the ds1 is better except for laser ID and 1% sensitively

Vortex Radar’s long range test showed it out performed every other detector. I’m definitely getting one.

there is a product called Sugru. use this to stick your mount to anything. won't let go like the tape when it heats up.
What does DS1 stand for? Is this a direct replacement for the pro m? Looks like a solid detector, I'm still holding out for Theia though.

Theia will be our portable detector with arrows. DS1 was suppose to come out after Theia but the global chip shortage has delayed Theia with no ETA. I drove with a V1 for 10 years before working at Radenso and going to a single horn detector (Pro M) didn’t bother me that much as I thought. -Randy
If I want to create a 3d-printed *magnetic* mount, will specs be available? (standard "pause the print and embed magnets, then resume to cover them up" technique. which polarity/where/etc?)

Will probably be easier for you to purchase a DS1 just in case but the mount is a standard 1/4-20 threaded hole.

Congratulations, great looking new detector! Looks like Vortex really likes it based on his early testing. I've promoted this as an excellent alternative to the PCA Polar Region members (Porsche) until the Theia is finally released. 👍 The 1/4-20 threaded mount is such a great idea which I'm hoping will also be included on the Theia? 🤔

On my R3, I like to run in dark mode so it only lights up with an alert. However, I can’t seem to auto adjust the brightness of the alert itself. I manually go in and change the brightness based on day or night. Would be nice to have dark mode that auto adjusts brightness of alerts based on time of day. Maybe this has that, but if not, it would be nice.
Good news! The Radenso DS1 has a built in auto dimming display, no need to have day or night settings.

With the flexibility of the mounting system, and you mention using it on a motorcycle, will it be water resistant? Or any warranty issues if a motorcyclist got stuck in a rain storm?
It is not water resistant and water damage isn’t covered under warranty. We would love for it to be water resistant but the cost would probably triple to make that happen. There are companies that make waterproof boxes though! -Randy

I had a Valentine 1 and sold it. I just ordered my DS1 because detector range trumps arrows. I fee ear;y detection is more important that knowing what direction the radar is coming from. Arrows are nice but they don't reduce your chances of getting a ticket.. Early detection gives you a better advantage . That was my logic. Purchased mine from crutchfield

You would need to find out more information from Ford regarding your windshield as they effect all types of radar detectors the same
I want the Theia, but there is no telling when they will come out. So I want the Theia if it does what they say it will do. It will be a game-changer.

There will not be a DS1 with arrows. Radenso Theia will be our next windshield radar detector with arrows and is a completely different product hardware and price wise. Also, we still have no ETA on Theia due to the global parts shortage. -Randy

I have a Blendmount magnetic rear view mirror mount that I use for my Escort Redline. Is the magnetic mount of the DS1 compatible?
BlendMount has not released a mount yet for the DS1 so it most likely will not fit properly.

Hi...@@lfsracer79 you got a point there, Western Australia is the only state that radar detectors are legal to use and every other state in Australia radar detectors are illegal but as long as its undetectable to all the spectre models some of us still use them anyway, But Europe should definitely be able to buy this DS1 or any other radar detectors as the market is much bigger over there, here in Australia is pretty much fucked they screw you here in every possible way they can for most people but I'm always a step ahead of them.

It would be nice if the radar detector goes to standby power mode after 10 minutes and powers up as soon as it detects movement. There are many old cars that the accessories power is not turned when the car is not running.
Unfortunately the powering back up part of that idea would be impossible if the detector was completely turned off

Excellent range and other features, very nice. But To bad the BSM is still not great. Seems pretty noisy watching other reviews and still using K notch filters. I guess that may be asking to much vs what a higher end detector brings or what Theia will (hopefully) be... That really is my biggest pet peave with any detector. Hopefully you can improve that!

Please make a Motorcycle Grade unit that can stand to be in the weather with similar features to this DS-1 with the addition of Bluetooth for sending alerts to Cardo-Scala and similar headsets. There is a Motorcycle unit out there with a terrible problem of BSM false alerts. Also It should also work with the HEAT alert helmet LED units and similar. There is a huge market of motorcycle riders that are craving such a unit. Put me on the list as a buyer for your first version.
Unfortunately making a portable waterproof radar detector would be insanely expensive and not profitable. Our suggestion would be to purchase a hidden system like our Radenso RC M and you would only need to enclose the small RC M display. Thanks! -Randy
I use a DFR7 on my bars. I just make it so I can easily take it off and stick in in my pocket or a bag in the rain. But yeah waterproof detector would be cool. I have waterproofed electronics before though with conformal coating, but the warranty would be gone and it may not work or may wreck the detector. I bet it would be possible though.

Chip shortage probably gonna last another 1-2 years. I find it hard to believe that if theia will actually be possible that one of the other radar companies hasn't already come out with it
Chip...cough...shortage... cough. There are numerous RD that perform signal processing in effort of eliminating false alerts. Don't be fooled by marketing hype.

I bought one a year ago and it had a segment problem with 35.5..I returned it to best buys..I bought one 3 weeks ago from Cincinnati...compared to a r4 it has the slightest drop in sensitively..if it had laser ID it would be even or better in every other category. My r4 and r8 dont block out k band signals but the ds1 does..my r4 and r8 still doesn't have a working auto dimmer ...I have experience with Cincinnati detectors since 1986 and this ds1 is excellent...to bad vortex guy really doesn't love it anymore..he says get the r4...
Next subject is you drinking a monster energy drink in private and on this video...the symbols on the can in Hebrew mean six six six..it can't be refuted..term monster is biblical the term release the beast is biblical..some cans have a upside down cross..your making a mistake putting that can in your video..another item about the r4 .its screen goes to a ugly fade in a year..so literally the ds1 is better except for laser ID and 1% sensitively

Updating the firmware does not change anything with your stored GPS lockouts -Randy
