I appreciate your honesty. I've looked at these for my 2008 PRHT. They certainly look good, but too many negatives. It's too bad with the roof liners falling down. I thought they might help reduce cabin noise. Just found your channel and I'm going to check out your other videos.
I got the interior liners ( without the additional mat on top ) for my right hand drive as the 2006 PRHT NC carpet was getting shabby & I found fitment was pretty good. Also got the trunk liner....also good .....However as per the video the roof liner with the velcro bits just kept falling down in hot weather ( Carbon Miata do recommend that you get it professionally glued on for best results) . Personally..... I definitely recommend the floor & trunk mats ...... each to his own experience !
Glad to hear your floor mats fit well. I think they're hand stitched, so the tolerances aren't as tight as with like a purely machine made product. Seems like a hit or miss sorta thing. 😊👍
Dude I just popped of the plastics off and put it back on over the carpets. No cutting required and perfect fit. No pedal problems nothing. Sorry you had so many issues with yours. Maybe they upgraded them since you got yours?
Going by what other owners are saying on forums, it seems fit consistency is a hit or miss. The mats are likely cut and sown by hand. So, I suppose I was one of the unlucky ones. :(
They do make your interior more cosy. If you're willing to do a bit of extra trimming etc, the end result may be worth it. But it's a lot of money though... 🤔
How well has the trunk top liner held up? I’m considering one but realize I’ll probably need to get some heavy duty Velcro to make it stick. Don’t want to truly glue it as I have wires running behind it for the trunk exterior light as well
The stick on velcro didn't work too well. Problem isn't sticking it to the trunk panel. It's the mat. The shape and texture of the mat makes it hard to stick anything to it. I ended up just drilling some holes in the mat. I aligned the holes with the holes in the trunk panel. Then I used some plastic trim clips/ push rivets through those holes. To hold it onto the trunk. A generic set of clips like this should have a wide range of clip sizes. Yes, but the difference is marginal. For reducing road noise, I'd recommend a proper sound deadening treatment under the carpet and in the trunk. Would recommend products like Noico or Dynamat.
I've just bought an interior carpet set for my. Maybe regret not seeing this til now. However I choose the version without the extra mat and my pedals are all still standard plates. What's the red tube things in each footwell? I ain't got them either.
From what I've read on some NC facebook groups, some of these fit perfect with no cutting or massaging. So, it might have to do with your luck too. Then again, that's not so reassuring either. The red tube is only in the passenger footwell. It's an emergency flare. It's a legal requirement for all road registered vehicles in Japan. :)
It doesn't really "soak it up" like a sponge. But it does hold some of the water that drips off and it can later dry up. The material itself is non-porous, so the factory carpet underneath won't get wet. And if you need to, you can take the mats out and clean them with water. 😊
For the boot lining i just used underlay and put the carpet back to be honest the road noise has halved was thinking to do the same for the front but find a cheap off cut off carpet
I can agree that they don't do much for sound deadening. I think sticking on sound deadening material on the inner panels is a much more cost effective solution if that's your goal. 👌😊

How strange, I have a 06 nc and my plush carpeting fit like a glove no cutting necessary and it's not disturbing the pedals in anyway shape or form. However I think the older models Na/Nb have tighter fit in the footwell?
It might just be poor tolerance control. I imagine these are cut and stitched manually. I've heard some NC owners (both left and right hand drive) have mats that fit perfect. It seems the fitment really just depends on your luck.

I was thinking of doing this for my mazda mx5 mk3 my carpet is getting worn , can I confirm how long did they last for do they still look nice have they started peel etc I appreciate your videos very helpful

Just installed mine today and they fit perfectly. The issue here is that you have a right hand drive. That’s the difference. You shouldn’t slam these mats when you’re the problem as far as you being the one who put mats in that weren’t designed for right hand drive.
You are aware that they make these in both RHD and LHD versions right? And there are also plenty of LHD owners who've had fitment issues with these. Glad to hear yours fit well though. 👍

Why not take the factory carpet out and stitch the mats into the factory carpet for better fit? It’s what i am doing

I can say they're super sturdy and durable. I've had mine for about 4 years, 15000kms. Have yet to see even a single tear. 😊
