My dad told me about this show back in 2021, when he was going through chemo and radiotherapy. It brought us both a great deal of well needed laughs, as well as many unexpected poignant moments. He’s no longer with us, but every episode and clip I watch continues to bring me those laughs, and have been a significant part of the grieving process. It’s unlikely I’ll ever meet you in person, so I’ll settle for showing my gratitude in a UA-cam comment. Thank you Bob. Thank you Paul (which happens to be my dad’s name). And of course, thank you Ted.
My relationship with this program mirrors your own. During the lockdowns my Dad and I would catch up on the phone and talk about this, as well as the fishing and scenery. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, we re-watched all the series but unfortunately we never got to go fishing together or get out in the British countryside one last time before be passed away in February. All the best to you and I hope you're doing well despite your loss.
@@mattkinsella9856 thank you for your comment, there’s a comfort in knowing that others are in the same boat as you. Sadly I never actually went fishing with my dad, assuming there would always be time for it. But it taught me the importance of maintaining those close relationships. I always get the feeling that I’m watching this show with him, and whenever I go fishing in the future, he’ll be there too. It’s as close as I’ll get, but strangely, it’s enough. I’m sorry for your loss, but happy to hear you have those good memories. Sometimes they can be what keeps us going. All the best to you too, my friend. I hope you’re well.
I love that TV companies are trying to come up with the next big thing and yet something like watching these two making bow and arrows and running on a beach can be such a hit.
This is a timley reminder that despite all the messages to the contrary, people can create such beautiful moments that remind us of what life is really about!
Heartwarming. Two mates, fishing and just having a good time. Throw in some deep and meaningful chats, combined with a healthy dose of daftness. Magic and a refreshing tonic in this climate of gloom.
The best duo since L&H ❤️ absolutely addicted to the show and love you two to bits, a guaranteed smile ,laugh and a heartwarming bond between 2 great friends 🥰
OMG, you two are so lovely. I've just finished your autobiography, Bob. The only thing I wanted from it was more pages. If you like a beach come to Thanet; we've got loads of them and I'll make you and Paul a cuppa in my camper :)
When I first encountered Bob Mortimer on the Big Night out back in the early 90s little did I know that he'd become a poignant embodiment of the aging process making me question my own relationship with growing older and my mortality rather than as a man in a raincoat, wig, glasses and no trousers pretending to be called Graham Lister.
Me too. I was 22 when I first watched Bob, in 1990. I'm 54 now, and we've grown old together. I'd recommend Chain Reaction, the Radio 4 series with Bob's interviews.
I love it, I relate to so much with these guys, I am a little younger, have one stent but still what they do and say is so true to life. I don't do fishing my out is the gym, but the outcome is the same. Keep it up guys.
@@Tom-d7e7m Was it really necessary to misinterpret my comment as "miserable"? It wasn't, not at all, I was just pointing out that statements like that are easy to make (especially on the internet) but if it came to it the "promise" wouldn't be kept.
Aww cheer up Bob.. I was caught giving my sandwich crusts to the birds one day, when asked why I claimed 'I want to see if the birds get curly feathers'
When I see them dicking about like this and take into account their conversations about it. I’m pretty sure they promised the BBC a heart attack on screen to get the series
How can Bob bring such relentless joy? And Paul is right about hair transplants, look at Boy George, hair transplant and lost a bit of weight, and he looks 20 years younger. I know a guy like that, had a hair transplant in his late 50s, shaved his beard off, started wearing nice clothes, and he's like a completely different person, thinks he can flirt with 30 year old women and it not be weird (spoiler: it is still weird).
Those "scissors" are actually fisherman's forceps. Used to unhook fish, usually pike, which have sharp teeth. They have blunt ends so they're not dangerous. Why he was wearing them on his jacket to go for a run is a mystery. As Bob would exclaim..."nobody knows!"

Bob's laugh gets me every time. 🤣
Especially when he kicks the ball at Paul!

It's such a joyful show. I watch and smile all the way through.
These two make my day
That beach run between two best friends was the most wholesome thing I think I've ever witnessed
I'd like to develop Bob's zest for life and silliness! Such a heartwarming series. Both wonderful men.
More of you two please, the world needs you ❤
Love the beach race, they are adorable!! 🥰
Thank you to you both. It's weird really but I never went fishing with my dad but whenever I watch the program, I just think of him. Love you dad!

Bob and Paui brilliant guys please never grow up 😆😆😆😆
Even if your net worth is 19 Million USD, you have one life, one body and finite time to live, love and have a few laughs along the journey. Superb!
19 million? I only have 15 million. I feel like a failure now.
I so wish I had a friend I could do this kind of stuff with..
I love you Paul Whitehouse ❤️ ♥️ 💙 💓 💕 💖

don't do it Bob and Paul you both look good as you are❤❤
Paul: "But your backstory has you as the hero of Telemark". 😂😂😂

Try fishing, get out in the fresh air, see the scenery enjoy nature. Find a mate to go with and you'll have a laugh and be healthy at the same time.
Love these.
Perfect TV
Your both growing old gracefully don't change out 👍😀🐟
"dis" gracefully more like, and it's fun to see it.
It may have been a draw...the race at the end felt like an enormous win for ALL of us.
If I had a fortune, I would now give it away to play a single round of golf with these two (I hate golf).
Easy to say on the internet but if it actually came to it, you wouldn't.

My sides ache 🤣🤣🤣
Bob should have been his Tubby Brewster (Baxter) footballer character 😂😂 kick…..head……Smeeeeeeeeeerk 🚬
Anyone know how Bob is?
Love those guys ! Can anyone tell me what the piano music at the end is ?
Could it be "Blessed" by Billy Elliston ?

WHY HAVE I NOT FOUND THIS SOONER.?????

Caught by whom? The crust police?
I love ya both... such a hoot 😘
DANG Love you CHUCKLERS! I MUST SAY!

I found the race along the beach oddly moving.

I take it that the people who own the cars in the carpark are in for their eyesight !? Ha
One's an Audi driver, so it's a brain transplant and attitude adjustment they need not just an eye test!

What would your mother say Paul?
