    My similar model Poulan had a starting/running problem; would barely run. I tried cleaning/adjusting the carb using the $10 tool from Amazon, replaced the spark plug, squirted Seafoam DeepCreep into the air intake but it still would barely run, albeit better than before. Then removed the 2 screws that hold on the plastic cover over the muffler, then removed the 2 screws that hold on the muffler discharge plate, then cleaned the carbon out of the 4 tiny discharge holes in the plate that were partially plugged with carbon. It then started right up and now runs like a champ! If the tiny holes get plugged with carbon the blower either wont start or wont run well.

    Helpful video... my leaf blower was doing the same as yours... cleaned the carburetor and replaced the air filter, but took it one step further... I replaced the 2 fuel lines and cleaned the gas filter. People sometimes don’t realize these blowers have a filter inside the gas tank. Once I did all that the blower run like new again.

    Here's a helpful "MacGyver" trick I learned from another video, that you can use when you don't have the special adjustment tool. Take the plastic applicator tube off of something like a tube of silicon or glue, heat up the end and place it over the adjustment screw. It should form to the screw and hopefully give you enough torque to turn it.

    the metal screen at 2:40 can be removed and cleaned out, stuff gets past that screen too. clean the needle and seat also. if the blower ran fine before this, neaning hi and lo screws were correct then they should be fine afterwards. I would think about getting a carb kit if the adjustments don't work. Clean out the carbon in the muffler,spark arrestor.

    I have the same blower (I also have a few videos up on it) I've owned mine since 2001 and let me tell you... It's been a lot of maintenance lately.. I've always ran good quality oils as well.. I will most likely keep my old Craftsman blower, even though it's been a headache at times.. But, I finally sucked it up, and spent the money, on a really nice high quality handheld blower.. Figure, I'll use it when I'm in need, and need one that's dependable.. I have way too much money into my Craftsman blower, to do anything with it but keep it.. (You'll see if you watch my videos) I purchased a Stihl Bg 86... I haven't even unboxed it yet.. Great video !

    Hi Paisteboy I was wondering if you ever found the problem with that craftsman leaf blower and how it only ran good on half choke I am having the same problem with the same blower.thanks

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  9 років тому

      No. I didn't need the blower and never got the tool so I haven't looked at it since I made this video. This could also be a sign that it is starving for fuel. Check for cracks in the fuel lines at the gas tank.

    • @Bdoodee
      @Bdoodee 6 років тому +6

      I had the same issue. There are tiny orifices and venturis that a cursory topical spray of carb fluid won’t clear. I dissembled the carb completely and soaked it in line sol overnight. Rinsed everything in water and seafoam lubed for assembly. Put it back together and it runs like a top. Why pine sol you ask? An old mechanic taught me carb cleaner is too harsh for soaking. The bodies of the carburetors are a casting and dipped in a coating to seal the porosity. Extended exposure of the coating to carb cleaner drips this thin film off. When the coating is gone tiny amounts of air work into the mixture. This makes things lean, in some cases too lean. That’s why the need for extra choke/richness. Try the pine sol... I now swear by it for all my carbs that have sat too long. Hope this helps!

    Because you are running half choke, you may need to replace the fuel filter. The filter may be half plugged.

    Which one of those two hose is the gas pickup ( small or larger) with the filter at the end? Having to replace all fuel lines and they just came apart and the carb I'm going to replace too. Get the tool at Amazon..... Got it done...figured out the gas lines...one thing u have to careful of is when u take out the needle valve and spring, always be sure the spring is straight and vertical when it goes back in. If not the unit will run but will stop.

      I hear what you are saying and I don't have all of the answers. I'm not even a small engine mechanic. I do know that some of these machines have a carburetor problem right from the factory and cleaning and rebuilding only help temporarily. I have a weed eater that my brother just gave me and it's having problems that a shop said wasn't worth fixing and the machine is only a couple of years old.

    For what it's worth , That blower looks exactly like a Poulan BVM200LE only with black plastic housing instead of yellow. And since Craftsman is notorious for slapping their name on other manufactures stuff , you might want to check to see if the bolts holding the cylinder to the crank housing are loose. It's a very common problem with the BVM220LE's . You can see it on this video : ua-cam.com/video/t9a_T8SoP7Y/v-deo.html

      I doubt the manufacturer sells one screw so I would suggest taking the a matching screw to a place like Fastenall that sells just screws and fasteners. They may be able to match it up for you.
