James really hitting new heights vocally on this album, the vibrato he does in the chorus is great, and unlike anything he's really done before on a Metallica album I think.
His lower register is all but gone. He almost sounds unrecognizable from the guy who sang on Sad But True and Until It Sleeps. He's nowhere near as dynamic as he used to be in the 90's.

He may be able to still use his lower register live here and there but as far as on the studio albums post 2000, I barely hear him do it. Now he did do Turn the Page for Howard Stern recently and he sounded good, especially for 60. I've noticed he's now putting some vibrato to his vocals that I've never really heard him do before. I actually think 72 Seasons as a whole is better than Magnetic and Hardwired. Maybe because I'm a huge Sabbath fan and I can hear him channeling his inner Iommi on this album. I'm an 80's Metallica fan through and through, but I'm not the type of fan that just thinks if they play faster or heavier that it's going to automatically be better. I find the Load albums to be superior to their post 2000 material. It's not that I just think James sounds different, it's been his vocal delivery on the last two albums before 72 that seemed off to me, like he would just string a bunch of words together before he's out of breath and the only requirement was that it needed to rhyme. It's definitely been hit or miss for me. The more I listen to 72 Seasons, the better it seems to get. There are great moments in there, particularly when they harmonize the guitars. That's always been a strong point of James, I just wish he did it more often.

It gave him that deep baritone sound, but his high notes were kinda dull. So now he projects his voice forward (towards front of face) to get that ringing resonance needed for soaring high notes.

I was hoping to hear an even better song in cinema then the ones released before and this one is the best on the album. Its hard and groovy, the rhythm grabbed me immediately!
This song is fantastic. The main riff is tasty. The chorus is catchy and makes you want to sing along. James sounds great. The pace is slower and that makes for a heavy feel. The solo is almost sing along worthy.
The songs on this album are killer but what's even cooler is that this music has brought us all together. No matter the language spoken, all are apart of MetFamily! I love it 🤘

I can’t help but hear a little bit of Lou Reed’s lyrical influence in this song, especially the way James sings the chorus. It’s like 90% Load with 10% Lulu. Great, great song!!
I have to take a moment to appreciate that we are still getting new music like this. I wouldn't of dreamed 40years ago I'd still be hearing these guys let alone them being the mega stars they are now .

I love how they're not afraid of the Load-era-type grooves. That with thrashy solos and multiple change ups really define this album. It's so strong!
Somehow that's part of Metallica's core, a mix between their classic thrashy age and the melodic/technical era.
Load/reload is overhated for no reason, I love those albums, and they aren’t worthy of the hate!
The way James twists his voice on "wire" in the chorus just slithers up my spine in the best way.
His voice really sounds incredible. Almost sounds like a totally different voice. Really good stuff.
