How a gibbet like that would work is quite nasty: it makes you stand in a slight crouch, with your head sticking out through a hole that's too small to pull it through. Doesn't sound too bad until you realise you're going to be stuck in half-crouch for literally days at a time. Doesn't sound too bad? Well every time you try and sit to take the weight off your legs, your head catches on the top plate and basically it strangles you. You can't sit, you get strangled. You can't sleep, you get strangled. You can't rest your legs in any way or you'll be strangled by your own body weight. Hence why it can be used to train slaves.... nobody wants to be in the gibbet for long
