Any alt arts/sir you’ve been on the fence about ?
I really want the Espeon Vmax from Fusion Strike and the Charizard V from Brilliant Stars in a PSA 10. I noticed both have actually levelled off and even dropped a bit. I heard the hobby is slow in the summer so perhaps I can find someone selling for a lower price in a few months. I can wait.
I'm attempting to collect all S&V SIRs. But I'm trying to pull them rather than buy them. I got most of the harder ones to pull.
I collect sgc 10. I need flareon and vaporeon to complete the group
I'v been calling it for the past year while everyone was constantly talking shit about S&V. I knew at some point those same people would start pumping it and telling everyone their sleeping on S&V. Very common market manipulation. Saw this in the graded games market when graded game youtubers told people for years not to invest in modern, and then all of a sudden they were uploading video after video telling people they're sleeping on modern. The point is never buy when things are hot and prices are up. Never buy when everyone is telling you to buy. Even if it means missing out.

This is an excellent and important video for anyone starting out with Pokémon investing. Totally right about the thumbnails. I think the situation is very reminiscent of 2020/21 but just on a smaller scale. There are opportunities to be had but absolutely exercise caution!
Thanks fam! It’s hard to not see the rise in value of Pokémon cards and boxes but sometimes it feels a bit out of hand 😂
I think if someone hasn’t gotten any alt arts yet, they were late and missed the boat, so try to get in on the next one with SV
For the most part yes the bottom dollar prices are gone but if the hype dies down and we see a reprint/retrace for certain sets it will affect the chases too I just think we’re seeing all time highs right now hard to believe prices will continue to climb short term but definitely confident in the long term overall. Even SV sir are getting wild. I wonder if it has a lot to do with the low gem rates…. Maybe Pokémon had a way to balance out the much higher print #’s by making cards tough to grade.… or maybe the vast number of printed cards caused QC to lower and grading got harder.. 🤷🏻♀️
I think it’s just the amount printed that’s messing with QC, and it’s like everyone’s liquidity is slowing down in swsh so it’s on to the next fast movers in SV and there’s always going to be plays with the alt arts of course just the amount of time it takes to move with so many options of other sellers selling the same things
Agree completely. If you really really want a card just to have it, get it. But don’t buy anything now expecting it to be a good ‘investment’. That ship sailed away. If you wanted to invest you should have bought cards 6 months ago . You’d be up 200 percent and more on most of these. Find the next thing.

You're spot on with the modern swsd alt arts. I was missing a few and decided to wait. Still am. However, I was able to finally pickup a Sylveon Vmax PSA 10 from a local shop. Basically they had a large order for a different tcg and needed some liquid to buy other things. I got that card for 190 out the door with a little trade credit. It was an easy buy. Still need Gengar and Ray but I will wait. If I dont get them, so be it. But in this economy and I have a child, I'm good. IMO in no world would I pay gold star or grail card prices for modern. Zero.
I've also considered selling off what I have and taking the gains. I would only to a bulk sale though and not piece it out. With just some of these alts its not unreasonable to sit there and think wow with a mix of raw and graded I have like 7500 in cards. If someone said I will give you 5 grand for it, it would be hard to turn that down. I'm sitting here thinking I could use that towards my house. Hobby be damned lol. You can always buy back later...if you want.
Also dont think they will ever formally announce a reprint, but man you can still find plenty of swsd at msrp out there. Even evo skies. I do think there has been some form of a shadow reprint, because even today I can walk into walmart and find tins with evo inside...a three year old set and most popular set going today. I flat out dont buy this stuff anymore. Cost of living is too high (I live in DC) and I rather have liquid cash vs trying to sell off sealed product and find a buyer + take a hit on fees. I collected the cards I wanted and moved on.

We live in the mass opening era so I have chosen to invest in sealed booster boxes primarily. Got my first case of Paldea Evovled recently! I love the idea of sealed product being opened and desirable cards coming to market. My sealed boxes will go up in value and I can collect some of the cards I actually want for a reasonable price; seems like win-win to me. I've only been in the hobby for half a year but even I have seen some massive price fluctuations for raw cards and slabs. I only have a few of either type in my collection.
Congrats on the new case pickup my guy ,and I believe in sealed obviously, but one wonders about reprints and I’m extremely conflicted on whether I should continue my vintage grind or stick with modern sealed for now. 😂😎

I’ve built up a decent collection, but kick myself in the butt the most for not getting the blaziken when it was at $80 for a long time…..it is what it is
I would gladly pay 160 which is what I paid for mine initially and even at that time the price seemed crazy 😂

I think what is going to happen is the Sw/Sh cards are going to peak but not necessarily go down.
Like S&M cards how they sort of peaked out and then stopped.
We’re peaking now in my opinion and need to come back down to more realistic prices because there are still boxes out there. Long term they’ll continue to rise because at this point there’s such a large strong community for them but I do think they’ll come down quite a bit before moving up further. Prices seem like they are unsustainable for the average person collecting too. So is it just a vicious cycle we’re all on where we keep buying the new highs? 😂😎
Pass on the crazy rise in SV SIRs. There is a low chance re-prints get passed over these sets. When re-prints come prices will come down.
Unfortunately this is the short term issue with modern that could hinder real growth. I think people should sell now near the top and wait for a dip in price. 😂
I have so much sealed evolving skies and other s&s sets. My plan was to start a stream but never got around to it because my job took off (for the good) and became 10x more time consuming. Now I’m sitting on several thousand sleeves and 15 cases off evolving skies booster boxes alone. So happy i never had time to stream. 😂
All money aside that’s a stream you should still do 😂😎

One option we extremely differ in is that you love the Chilling Reign Blazakin and hate Fusion Strike Gengar Vmax which I am the opposite of. 😂 I've pulled Blazakin twice and sold those off cause I just don't like the art. That Gengar is top 3 fave alt. Lol

I just want the charizard v alt from BS I almost pulled the trigger on it for 100 bucks like 3 months ago but I bought a super min rainbow zard from the same set instead for 35 bucks which was a good deal but the zard is like 175 now

Out of all the alt arts, i feel like Blaziken VMAX has a fair price, seeing the PSA POP. Such an underrated alt art too, hope I can still snag it soon..

How many genguards have you actually pulled?.. I pulled one out of a thousand packs
I’ve only pulled a few alt arts in my thousands of packs so I understand the rarity aspect
In regards to market manipulation, even if the card market is being manipulated it appears that collectors, to some degree, like the increase of value to their cards. Obviously collectors who have yet to acquire a certain card dont like it because they dont want to pay more for it when it could/ should be less.
Its curious to see a reluctance to concede on market manipulation by the collectors or hobbiest. But if you look at pop reports and cards of lesser pops and seemingly older... they are trending on being worth less than some of these modern cards. So its not a supply and demand issue. Its curious.
Great comment as always fam I’m very curious to see where this all settles in the next year or so. If these prices don’t move lower soon I think they’ll probably stabilize here which is a bummer. Fantastic for people who own them already not so great for people wanting to collect modern. Which makes zero sense because these cards should be readily available. People must be hoarding hard. 😎
Personally the english alt art hype never bothered me when i could get them way cheaper and in JP printed quality with languages such as Simplified Chinese.
Totally get that and that’s why a lot of people are shifting to Japanese because the value and savings is there 100% but I would be careful with value retention in other languages because English is the stronger market for market value. As far as collecting goes go for it 😎🙏🏼

There is millions of people involved in the hobby now.
Compare some of the prices to vintage grails though. Vintage is slow moving but constantly rising. Way lower pop reports, and pop won’t rise much. Then you take the Moonbreon for instance, beautiful card hard pull but high pop, and the price is insane. They will be on the market for years to come and probably won’t dry up anytime soon. Vintage=stable, modern=volatile. Millions of people in the hobby, but when people wake up and vintage has more people talking, people will recognize they have been focused on a liquid market and will be paying a premium or not at all getting in on cards that are truly scarce. And out of the millions the few people that hold these grails won’t be as quick to sell causing prices to rise even further. One of the reasons I enjoy this channel. Not enough people talking about vintage. Funny I was buying alt arts in February when the market was down. Got a couple big ones but didn’t go hard enough. Did not expect this craze, but it’s spreading like wildfire. Umbreon has been at this price point before, and will most definitely drop over time. The prices of sealed rising has definitely created fomo and has people feeling it’s too late. Hell you can even look at sun and moon alt arts it was all the craze a couple years ago, way smaller print runs and prices have dropped cause it isn’t heavily talked about.

That’s always an extremely valid point too. They are so freaking hard to pull. And I don’t discount that… but there will be more from all kinds of products being opened in the future and the pop will rise. This means the price should stabilize before major growth. But maybe people are truly done opening those sets…. Idk so much sealed product hoarding it makes it hard to believe these cards won’t be pulled again and again. Just my thoughts obviously I love modern alt arts I just hate how expensive they’ve become. 😎

There is a lot of these vintage cards to just Remember how you could pull 5-6 holos in one buster box. If there is no psa 10 or psa 9 then people with just go for the 8-7-6. There is 1,000’s of them everywhere.
Having a 9 or 8 or 7 is just about the same. Card looks the same. Heck now people are chasing psa 1’s lol.
There is 10’s of thousands of these holo vintage cards everywhere. Nothing special. The fact that you have to open 50 booster boxes to get one of these alts is crazy. And I do not believe people are hording as much as we think. And truth is we will never know.
If we could some how know how much sealed is out there then we can make a better judgment on what the future will hold. But for now there is 11.5k psa 10 moonbreons and millions of collectors that would love to have one.

I think the Charizard ,Blastoise and venusaur from 151 is very slept on considering the hype around the rest of the singles that are rising and overhyped, 151 will forever be an iconic set it will be remembered by gen 1 lovers like base set was , yes pops are not very low but give it 10 - 15 years this set is not going to the moon this set is going passed at least mars 😂 ,the Cards are unlike any other gen 1 cards ever made and I dont think we will get such cards in such a set ever again ,just my opinion 😏
Right now may not be the best time to buy if there is a reprint but if thier isn't maybe it is !

These cards are still widely available and will be for a long time. If certain cards dont come back down then it honestly wont ruin your life either

We’ll definitely check the source on that sale and see if the seller had low feedback seems sketchy etc lots of variables than just looking at sold listings but that’s about what I think it’s worth still. 😎

Collectors are absolutely going to feel the same way about Modern.
Keep in mind for kids today who grew up with Sword & Shield they don’t care about the same stuff you do.
That’s why Pokemon does so successful because each generation forms a strong bond with the generation they are introduced too.
I’m curious as to if the youth buying today is going to stick with it or sell soon to prioritize other aspects of their lives? It’s a pretty funny thing but history repeats itself and a lot of people gave up TCG myself included and came back to it so I’m banking on there being a period where cards (not sealed BB’s) are going to probably come down from the highs we’re seeing. 😎🤷🏻♀️.
