A really great software - keeps getting better and better!!
I became a big fan of your channel last month when I was researching the best camera to buy on my budget and I found your review of the Fujifilm X-T1. It took about a week on eBay to find one that was in my price range, was in very good condition, and not from Japan. Then I found your reviews of the ttartisan lenses. I am beyond impressed by both the camera and the lenses so far! And now I just ordered Luminar from this review that I saw just now. I've been on Adobe Photoshop for decades and have basics skills on that, but Lunimar looks like it makes the process so much easier with an intuitive system that will enhance my photography as well as streamlining time spent on workflow. Thanks Mark for everything you do!
Nice content Mark!
Thank you.
Thank you.
3:33 yay, Mark belongs in the XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR club! Fuji users bash that lens but I believe it can produce very good images at around 30mm to 50mm.
Ahhhh......editing... So time consuming with a traditional editor. I'm at a point where I have to do something. I just lost access to Capture One Express because it was deprecated as I'm sure you know. I'm currently using the 30 day free trial period afforded to Fuji camera owners. Supposedly there is a way to revert to a free raw converter that is supposed to be similar to Express for Fuji, but I haven't figured that out yet. They made the process kind of complicated. As an amateur, I'm not sure it makes sense to pay the price for tools like Lightroom/Photoshop or the new Capture One. Still looking for an alternative. Question: in the VW van photo there was a branch visible on the left side of the van. Can Neo remove things like that? Thanks for the overview.
How does luminar handle Fuji xtrans sensor raw files compared to capture one or Lightroom?
Would love to know this as well.
I don't find it to have that terrible worm effect, like Lightroom, but there is a 7 day trial, no credit card/payment info needed, just try it.
Mark, with all due respect, what you are referring to as AI is actually "heuristics", which is NOT Artificial Intelligence. "AI" seems to be a buzz word that is overly used lately to sell any type of feature to a gullible public. It seems that any type of programmable feature beyond a spreadsheet or a web page is now sold as "AI".
Are you saying this is Artificial Artificial Intelligence? ;-) Yea, every Sony Camera is AI now too. I'm just using it in the common vernacular, not sure it really matters too much, if it shifts decision making from the user.
One question: you’re talking about AI stuff. I assume that the program is using more like an algorithm to detect certain scenes etc. Otherwise I’d say the data (picture) would have to be uploaded to some server. Do you have any information on that? Don’t want do share my holiday memories with a company.. ;-)
Anyways: Thanks for this video! Definitely will give the tool a shot. Tried to work with gimp - but for 3-4 occasions a year it’s not worth the time. Or I’m too stupid, but I’d say it’s missing practice.
You don't have to be connected to the internet to use it, so I assume it's not uploading anything.
BTW, yes, basically everything is called AI now, even if it's not AI the way we think of it. All the new Sony Cameras have "AI" too.
@@markwiemels thanks for the response!
Yes, „AI“ is everywhere … ;-))
For yourself, did you purchase a subscription or the lifetime license?
Just checked their page and was disappointed at first because I only saw the subscription. Further down on the page there also is an option for lifetime license however.
@@Sm0k3R573v3 I originally purchased luminar 4 lifetime, it was the predecessor to neo, but they gave me neo, because I’m a UA-camr.
Quick follow-up from my end: wanted to buy the software as it is sufficient for me (still too complex here and there).
But: prices in the US seem reasonable with 119USD for the lifetime license. Here in the EU, the same license is 160USD.
Therefore I will refrain from buying it for now.
I bought Luminar 4 and Luminar AI, but both are so painfully slow I wasn’t about to spend money in NEO.
I have never had any issues, I am a Mac user, not sure if there is a difference.
@@markwiemels I found it slow enough on my iMac that I could time it. 3-4,seconds from clicking on a file to any editing command being active, then after issuing an editing command it was another 3-4 seconds to “regenerate” (I think that was the wording, it’s been awhile).
I never had this issue with Lightroom or now Exposure X7.
I was a bit disappointed Luminar seemed to have do many possibilities.
The raw files were/are from my X-T1 or X-T3.
@@94slingshot It's super fast on the M1's now, at least in my experience. 7 day free trial, no payment info required, so it's no risk to try.
It doesn’t matter what computer you have as much as the specs in it, if your ram is less than 16 you might have issues with all the editing softwares
@@PolarisClubfan I have no issues with any other editing software; Lightroom, Exposure X7, Photoshop, or even Rhino cadd modeling. Only Luminar.
