Good video! As a game developer I think they're in a nasty spot with this. There aren't many options available to them without bad long-term consequences. To cite a few things people might think of: * Discounting packs to keep the average cost per-month the same would be bad because it creates FOMO - these discounted packs would be higher value than future packs, which creates an incentive to binge spend to stock up resources for later, and means you have a spending advantage over people who spend money later. This also would result in players seeing a 'price hike' when the catch-up is complete, which would be unpopular. * Scaling up the returns on packs is similar to discounting packs, albeit a little better. I think having fewer packs in the shop is better - a shop full of packs looks greedy and convoluted and drives players away. PGR already has too many packs. * Increasing the % on pulls is as you said basically just gambling and psychological manipulation. It's 'nice' but not a fix. * Lowering the ceiling as you said is unrealistic, but I actually think it's one of the most feasible solutions because it's easier to roll back and would only apply to the banners that run during the catch-up period - these are weird banners anyway. * Another option would be to do a refund on pulls like they did during Nier. This might be easier for them to do than adjusting the ceiling and makes the banners more 'normal'. Players will still be grumpy when it goes away though. * One more option would be to give rewards along with pulls, so they can keep the set of packs per patch the same, the contents of the packs the same, and the nature of the banners and pull costs the same. I'm not sure there's a comparable precedent for this other than the whale tears in games like GBF. But for example, every time you get an S-rank or fragments, they could 'double up' or 'triple up' on the fragments and give you a fragment selector. I'm not sure this would be any easier than some of the other options I mentioned though. I suspect a factor here is that they're afraid of pissing off CN players by creating the appearance of overseas players getting special treatment. I know CN players of other games have basically rioted in the past in response to perceived 'unfair treatment' and the studios responsible for those games panicked and backpedaled. My impression is that Kuro has been very careful so far to not give overseas players anything that they didn't give to CN.
Discount a set amount of packs proportional to the amount of patches merged into one I.e. 3 packs are discounted per patch. This significantly helps dolphins and makes whales at least see kuro is trying to show goodwill by assisting spenders - whales generally will spend on whatever they want anyway (as they are whales…) and this will prevent whales from spending out of control to stock up on currency with FOMO and assists the vast majority of the player base. The real question is why this hasn’t already been implemented as an option. If I can think of that in 5mins it begs the question as to why kuro thinks they can get away with shafting all spenders on global. CN will always come first but if they don’t respect global spenders then the backlash will ruin the all important hype train weve all been waiting for
Literally my line of thinking as well, form developer's perspective this is hell because there is no scenario in which they dont lose money. Question is, will they bite the bullet or not? I feel that bringing all versions together is 100% less of a headache for them to manage and players would like new content to come sooner, but there are so many issues here with the powercreep, money they expect/need to make as well as technical complications with managing multiple versions in a short amount of time. I do think they should bite the bullet on this one and just making monthly/battle passes have way more rewards or simply let ppl buy chars straight for RC from the shop, WuWa revenue should make this possible even if its not directly connected to PGR and DMC collab is for sure gonna make more money. Could always bring Nier back, so many ppl missed it but i guess they cant bcz of SE. Overall a nasty situation for Kuro and their management here, I dont think players are gonna come out on top. After we get the roadmap, i think a new plan should be made which chars are gonna get powercrept fasters and those should just be skipped.
Well , it always because CN being rioted anyway and did even kuro ever give overseas players anything ? No , they didnt , infact the reward for CN is better then global just like how long they wait before they give global 600 RC pack and what global did ? We just swallow every treatment they give to us , what you can say when the game being dominance by one community only , take it or leave it.
- I'm seeing the DMC collab as a possible factor for this decision cuz from what I know, capcom is very strict when it comes to collabs so they might've given kuro a certain amount of time where they can use DMC characters. - Then there's also Kuro possibly want both global and CN to be synchronize before the collab comes. - Discounting the price for global might piss CN as well. To put it simply, they're really in a tight spot. I am F2P but I can't blame the spenders being disappointed with this decision. That said, I hope they find a solution to this, even if it's not the perfect solution.
Like you said, this will heavily affect the light spenders, whales have the income so its not a problem for them. I heavily doubt kuro will give some "discounts" cause CN server will eat them alive if they do. There's no win/win here and that simply is because of time. Fitting almost 2 years of content in 1 will affect someone in the end, like it or not. As a lightspender myself, i get that there's no easy way out of this, so imma continue getting the monthly pass, but I'll just stop with the BP and choose carefully wich sfx coatings to get and wait for others to rerun.
i don't think reducing the pack price or increasing the pack contents is reasonable because that would affect profits directly and no corpo would willingly do that. The best solution would be keeping a separate section for indefinite amount of time and put all the excess packs there, like for 3 integrated pacthes keep 1 in normal pack section and the other 2 in the separate section. Players can purchase the other packs whenever necessary. I was against the syncro for several reasons this being one of them, but since they already announced it, best we can do is leave a feedback and wait for how it turns out. I genuinely hope they will provide a solution.
@@azurechamp2949 I also did consider something like leaving the arrival banners up for all characters for a full year as well so that people could save and spend at their own pace without worry of a 100% character banner being gone in 4 weeks or so.
No, for me reducing the pack price or increasing the pack contents will not affect in a bad way because if someone used to spents 100 bucks per month he will still spent that amont with or without the integration plan. In fact they can go more profits because if for the same amout we have triple rewards then a lot of people will but more packs. Dunno if you now what i mean.
Yeah, they need to work on this a bit more. While their solution is great for F2P players by giving us the amount of resources and BC we would normally get if the patches ran as they were supposed to. This is something that should be done no questions asked, and I'm glad Kuro is giving us that. It sucks for spenders though, and Kuro is in a bit of a pickle here because it's difficult to make a satisfactory solution. Funny part is, I went to twitter to check, and under that post over 90% of replies is people saying they need to fix the paid content part. While adjusting the pull rate or pity would help spenders, it would also create FOMO for everyone, benefit F2P players a lot as well (which isn't bad per se), and make people mad when it goes away. Not changing the price or value of paid packs is not a good solution, rather a pretty shitty one. The problem is, and many people are saying that, people's income didn't suddenly triple. While giving discounts or more cards would make CN players salty because they had to pay the full price, they also wouldn't have grounds to complain because Kuro decided to condense things. So if a player from any other server wanted to get the same amount of stuff from the cash shop as a CN player, they would need to pay twice or triple the amount, even if over less months. Even then, the accelerated patches won't allow you to get as many resources as you should have gotten on a regular schedule, because they're limiting paid packs to one less than the amount of patches. What they should do is at the very least introduce something like RC double top-up bonus that resets every patch. It's still less buying power than we should have gotten, but far more fair than having to pay triple.
Any form of midrange spender will not get their paycheck 3x faster. This means that with 3x faster updates, you won't exactly be spending 3x more, but more like 3x faster. The chars being used may also be rotated out faster which means a shorter time to use them even though you paid full price for them.
As a light spender (sub, BPs, coatings) I honestly see the only one logical solution without making a lot difficult adjustments - discount on banners based on number of patches combined. In this way they wouldn't have to make almost any changes to the game and the only work Kuro would have to do is to calculate median number of cards obtained through events and adjust event rewards accordingly. In this way both F2P and P2W players would get treated both good. As for me doing some math is much easier rather than attempt to sit on three chairs.
Since they can't do this right I think it would be for the best to just cancel this plan and leave the game as it was. I was happy as dolphin and now I would go full F2P.
Because of how much quicker units will be powercrept by this, I think they are doing a service to people who spend or want to spend due to not making those people want to invest more because of special packs and deals everywhere, but Im only a monthly pass spender who never goes sss so i can understand people who are invested in being in the top % being between a rock and a hard place
Your idea is really good. They could have just lowered the amount of supply packs, and increased the value depending on the amount of integrated versions. Making people pay faster for things they otherwise would have been able to afford with slower patches is a rare Kuro L.
It's also reasonable to think that we will not be using the new characters coming out as long as CN would be because of the accelerated schedule. Who knows, the char you paid for might be rotated out the patch we catch up with CN on.
I'm just talking out my butt here and in no way an expert, but I think a reason they won't increase paid contents (like giving us more bang for our buck) is to not get in trouble with the CN player base. Like for example if we get more Black Cards for the same price or increased gacha rates, maybe there are some legal concerns involved (again, i'm not an expert.) The argument favor CN side since they already paid for that content while we have not and can choose not to. Basically, Kuro can't give us anything that can be seen as an advantage over the CN counterpart, or they will demand compensation next. And honestly, no matter how the Synchro plan ended up, we will still get screwed one way or another with the shortened time. At least this will only be until we caught up with CN and not forever, so with some planning we should be able to get through this phase with reduced pain.
I understand the concern, but I may be on the unpopular opinion but you can pay extra for certain goods and services to come out faster or delivered at a time that is convenient for you. To me, kuro is delivering a working product faster and I’m paying for that service to be delivered faster. Even tho the content is there elsewhere, it’s making that product accessible to the global audience (mainly translations). Big whales are definitely happy with this because they have infinite money. Anyone that does spend have to recognise that there is a cost to get stuff shipped faster. I wouldn’t be against some form of VIP or extra perks for spending because as it stands, f2ps are hitching a free ride. It’s not unfair either, spenders should have more benefits
The value of each construct is gonna decrease by 2-3 times too since powercreep will happen that much faster. Yet paid content is the same...
