Former Doomer here. I'm happy with my life now and look forward to things. I'll tell you what I did: I stopped doing the things that "used to be fun" but aren't really cutting it anymore, but more importantly, I starting doing the things I "wanted to try" but was too nervous I'd mess up on (so I kept putting them off, and going back to the "easy" routine, because it was familiar.) Finally, one day I just said "fuck it" and bought a motorcycle. I went in head first into something I wanted to try out for a long time, but was afraid of the uncertainty. I got it, rode it, and learned a lot from it, and I felt so fresh and like my longing for my life to be interesting went away. Then it started coming back again. I got bored with the bike, and had NEW routines that were boring and too "familiar" and safe. My bike was slow, and I wanted to modify it, but I was lazy and procrastinated, but more than anything, _scared_ that I would mess something up if I modified the bike. Well I did it anyway. I researched the fuck out of it on the computer (something I do well?) and nervously ordered parts and got to work.... And I messed up. But the desire to not waste all this money I worked hard for drove me to keep trying. Finally, I got my bike running, with new stuff added to it, and it felt fresh riding it again. I also learned a lot about engines and stuff and started helping my dad with things he needed with the truck. The desire for me to try new things grew, it became this natural high to solve problems, or try things out that I was curious on. 4 years later, I got my first gf, graduated college after nearly dropping out, went through two great jobs before starting a career in a different field, and bought two nice (used) cars, and I still ride the motorcycle, but meet up with local groups for more entertaining rides. It's a BIG jump, but it happened because I started doing things I was afraid of doing. Doomers, you're in the spot you're in because you're afraid of making the wrong move. But life is about _going for_ the things you want, and that literally is going to involve screwing up, failing, hurting yourself, getting weird looks or talked about by people, but you shouldn't focus on these things, You shouldn't let FEAR run your life. Instead, run your life figuring out how to succeed at the thing you're particularly interested in getting. Focus, stop putting "IT" off. Start small, and stop if you get frustrated, BUT COME BACK LATER AND KEEP TRYING. A man who doesn't take challenges, never advances. He stays where he is.

I went through a part of my life where I resonated deeply with the doomer archetype. I was horribly depressed, but DAMN. Did it ever expand my taste in music.
Was doomer most of my life, but recently I understood, that being alone is actually far better than any form of relationship, you are basically living embodiment of freedom, can do anything you want, no one demands sh*t from you, no dumb girl manipulating and irritating you, just you, your mind and complete unbound freedom. Also regarding girls, stop demanding more and more from urself guys, rather ask yourselves what should a girl do to impress you. Gf should be a addition to your life not a part of it. Never change, be yourselves. That's how I overcame depression, on my own. Most of your problems are in your mind, and probably aren't that scary, depression nowadays is just natural defense mechanism of your mind agains sh*t going on in this world, you are not "sick" "handicapped" and weak, you are normal, it's just your intelligent mind having allergic reaction towards this sh*tty world. I'm 20 year old, soon gonna turn 21. Away from my family, got no friends, single af. All I do in a day is to hear music, go to college, attend classes with minimum human interactions, go to canteen to eat(alone), get to my dormitory (alone), sketch a little bit and stay alone in my room lying on my bed speaking nothin, just trying to sleep but can't, however I sleep for 4-5 hrs at night, wake up feeling headache and nausea, and the cycle repeats again.
Depression sucks, but there’s things you can do to help move past it- • A sense of purpose can be your driving force to work your way out of it. Even small goals help • Exercise sucks at first but it’s directly connected to your brains ability to create dopamine and actually feel good. Even walking helps • Being clean and sober is extremely important to depression and mental health, and while not illegal, cigarettes affect your mood extremely negatively • Poor diet is a major factor in contributing to depression. It may seem insignificant but it’s huge • Social contact- I have like two friends and they aren’t that close, but just going to the store and talking to the cashier can help with feeling isolated. When I’m lonely I like going to the mall • If all else fails, depression medication can help. It’s not a cure all, the before mentioned factors should come first and still be prioritized. Don’t expect to for medication to help if you eat poorly, stay inside all day, have no goals, and have been using harmful drugs and alcohol or cigarettes. This is coming from someone who is bipolar, takes medicine, has tried to kill themselves 3 times, and has been psychotic and lost many friends. I know what it is like to feel hopeless, and it’s not easy to find hope/ happiness, but there are some steps you can take to find yourself on the road to recovery. Because I take care of myself, the past couple of years have been my happiest and most successful.

There’s tons of research on why social contact is important- but introverts typically do better when they are in less urban environments. Usually... I park the bicycle under the bridge and sit down to eat, close my eyes... Certainly knowing I'm not going anywhere in life despite being so young.

I went through a part of my life where I resonated deeply with the doomer archetype. I was horribly depressed, but DAMN. Did it ever expand my taste in music.
Was doomer most of my life, but recently I understood, that being alone is actually far better than any form of relationship, you are basically living embodiment of freedom, can do anything you want, no one demands sh*t from you, no dumb girl manipulating and irritating you, just you, your mind and complete unbound freedom. Also regarding girls, stop demanding more and more from urself guys, rather ask yourselves what should a girl do to impress you. Gf should be a addition to your life not a part of it. Never change, be yourselves. That's how I overcame depression, on my own. Most of your problems are in your mind, and probably aren't that scary, depression nowadays is just natural defense mechanism of your mind agains sh*t going on in this world, you are not "sick" "handicapped" and weak, you are normal, it's just your intelligent mind having allergic reaction towards this sh*tty world. I'm 20 year old, soon gonna turn 21. Away from my family, got no friends, single af. All I do in a day is to hear music, go to college, attend classes with minimum human interactions, go to canteen to eat(alone), get to my dormitory (alone), sketch a little bit and stay alone in my room lying on my bed speaking nothin, just trying to sleep but can't, however I sleep for 4-5 hrs at night, wake up feeling headache and nausea, and the cycle repeats again.

Depression sucks, but there’s things you can do to help move past it-
• A sense of purpose can be your driving force to work your way out of it. Even small goals help
• Exercise sucks at first but it’s directly connected to your brains ability to create dopamine and actually feel good. Even walking helps
• Being clean and sober is extremely important to depression and mental health, and while not illegal, cigarettes affect your mood extremely negatively
• Poor diet is a major factor in contributing to depression. It may seem insignificant but it’s huge
• Social contact- I have like two friends and they aren’t that close, but just going to the store and talking to the cashier can help with feeling isolated. When I’m lonely I like going to the mall
• If all else fails, depression medication can help. It’s not a cure all, the before mentioned factors should come first and still be prioritized. Don’t expect to for medication to help if you eat poorly, stay inside all day, have no goals, and have been using harmful drugs and alcohol or cigarettes.
This is coming from someone who is bipolar, takes medicine, has tried to kill themselves 3 times, and has been psychotic and lost many friends. I know what it is like to feel hopeless, and it’s not easy to find hope/ happiness, but there are some steps you can take to find yourself on the road to recovery. Because I take care of myself, the past couple of years have been my happiest and most successful.

There’s tons of research on why social contact is important- but introverts typically do better when they are in less urban environments. Being in a city with noisy neighbors that you don’t interact with increases feelings of isolation and alienation, as opposed to being in the countryside, living near nature.
