So much my story! Raised Catholic, left around 1969 or so. Became atheist, then a spiritual seeker. Heavily involved in all manner of occult practices: yoga, shamanism, witchcraft, energy healing, tarot, astrology, etc. Also highly anxious all my life and it increased as the years went by. I drank a LOT. Finally, I had to let go of pretty much everything and started going to AA because I couldn't stop drinking. It was after 8 months in AA that my defenses against God finally broke down, I credit the Serenity Prayer for that. I surrendered to God and a couple weeks later He sent His Son to pay me a visit. That led me back to the Church, reluctantly, but the prompting wouldn't go away. Confession after 50 years away was terrifying! But afterwards I felt such relief, and I sat in my car and cried afterwards. That was Dec 21, 2019, the winter solstice and 4th Sunday of Advent. I fell in love with the Church and this beautiful Faith. I go to daily mass now, am heavily involved in several ministries in my parish, and I will NEVER leave the Church again. I will never deny God again. May God bless all of you!

Thank you for sharing your story. Its similar to my own. I'm also in recovery ( AA) since 1993 , relapsed for a year and came back 8-12-09. Did my 5th step both times but never went to confession. Went back to mass weekly the 1st 15 years but not the last 14. Think I was embarrassed about going through a divorce - my husband's choice not mine. I'm preparing to go back to Church but want to go to confession first. Pretty scary after almost 40 years. How was it for you ? Did you make an appointment with the Priest ? I need to walk through the fear and just do it. God bless you ❤🙏

@@maryannerazzano7692 Oh it was terrifying! Simply because I believed that what I had done---broken every commandment---was unforgivable. I didn't know if I could even be accepted back into the Church, but all I sought at that point was God's forgiveness and to get right with Him. I was absolutely certain I would burst into flames just walking through the doors of the church. I knew nothing about making an appointment with the priest, nothing about general confessions, I just knew I HAD to go to confession before going to Mass because I knew that I was in mortal sin big time. I could only manage the first few sentences, "Forgive me Father, I have sinned, it's been 50 years since my last confession." I could see him through the screen, a youngish man, and I saw a big smile on his face and he said "Welcome back!" I told him I had no idea where to even start and he said to just start with what was most pressing on my heart and we'd go from there. And that's when I lost it completely. I snotty-cried through the whole thing. I couldn't even get to the rest of my sins, being too numerous to count and lack of time because there was still a long line behind me. But the sense of relief that flooded me as I sat in my car before going All I can say to any lapsed Catholic out there who is afraid to come back because they think they're sins are too great, you're wrong! NO SIN IS TOO GREAT FOR GOD TO FORGIVE. His Mercy is an unending tidal wave. He only wants you to repent and seek forgiveness, and He will forgive everything! I generally go to confession every two weeks or so, I have many bad habits and patterns I'm still working on healing and releasing, but I'm getting there---slowly. May God bless and heal you!

I started fasting this year (one meal a day most days) for health reasons. I lost 60 lbs and got off insulin. I did it purely for health in the beginning, however I quickly realized I could offer it up to God. I can honestly say it helped my prayer and in turn my prayer life helped my physical health.

What a beautiful testimony! I was like you: Grew up as a Protestant, then fell off and became a New Ager for over 30 years. Finally, Jesus called me back into His Church. I tried Protestant churches at first, but they just didn't do it for me anymore. When I became a Catholic, things finally changed, but I was still stuck in my New Age ways... until one day, when God gave me a major wakeup call (very similar to you; instead of a podcast, I was led to the book "The Warning" by Christine Watkins) and realized I was on my way to hell. Demonic attacks followed-sleepless nights, horrible nightmares, etc. Some of it I got rid of through a recent house blessing, but every time I make substantial spiritual progress, things get worse. I have a hard time fasting (emotional eating is one of my problems), but will give it another try. I liked how you said you "give it to the Lord, give it to Mary, and it's a breeze."

@@blossominginchrist Mary is the person Jesus loved most in the world, and she is the greatest of the saints. Yes, she is still human, but as we see in the Wedding at Cana, her son won't deny her anything. She's the King's mother and accompanied Him throughout His life and Passion. When she presented baby Jesus at the temple, Simeon, foretold that she was to suffer too ("And the sword shall pierce your heart too.") She is our advocate with the Holy Trinity and the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Yes, you can go directly to Jesus, but she is a powerful intercessor. There are many "I almost went to Hell" witnesses who said that at the last moment before they were condemned to Hell, Mary showed up and begged her divine son for mercy on behalf of that person. Also, every exorcist knows that demons and even Satan are absolutely terrified of her. All good reasons to have her on your side. It has worked beautifully for me personally, and I'm very grateful to her.

The devil attacked me intensely in my conversion 2 years ago after years doing reiki, yoga, new age and other "occult meditations". It was a real battle for my soul. I accepted Jesus into my life and then had a 'spiritual awakening' where all my 'spiritual centers' were opened... I thought I had allowed a connection to my eternal soul, but in reality a fallen angel entered me and part of me believed I was the reincarnation of Hermes.
Prayer, fasting, meditation on the sacred mysteries. Pray the Rosary daily and devoutly! Consecrate yourself to The Blessed Virgin Mary who crushes the head of Satan. Get into the church and sacraments (confession and the Holy eucharist). Pray unceasingly. Ask Mary for the grace of prayer if you're having trouble praying, the dark one will do anything to keep you from prayer. Rebuke renounce and reject any evil spirits in the name of Jesus Christ and all the things you've done. The book of Deliverance Prayers for Laity by Fr. Chad Ripperger is great. Listen to his videos on spiritual warfare and authority etc. Keep your eyes fixed on the cross, once you realize and know Jesus is in control of everything things become easier. You will learn to discern when you are under attack, the enemy is relentless and we hold no power over him... but he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. The hardest part is learning to to surrender yourself to Jesus and trust in him.
    Do the Surrender Novena repeatedly.
    Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Engage in the spiritual warfare. Bring all thoughts captive to Christ. Replace spiritual lies that come up in your head with lines from sacred scripture.
Ask the Blessed Virgin, meditatrix of all Grace for an increase of Faith. If you are really in a bad place ask her for any unused or unclaimed graces! Seal yourself in his precious blood. "Lord Jesus Christ seal me in your most precious blood against and and all incursions of the evil one in particular against any clinging, familial, familiar or retaliating spirits in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit"
I think we will see much more of these "prodigal returns" as it seems the hour is getting late.
Praise and thanks be to Jesus I am saved. He is the way, the truth and the life.

God really has His own ways in leading us back to Him. Like the prodigal son, God is always there. Omnipotent. Omnipresent in whatever we do. When we go astray, He will be waiting for us to come back home. This thought always put me into tears. Knowing how powerful God is and loving that this love He has for everyone transcends to all people across every nation.

It's like a magnetic force, a vortex, that tries pull your soul out of body. Creepy. Used to like this when practicing new age, but when reverting to catholicism it completely stopped. Saying Jesus or Hail Mary always works in spiritual warfare, whether Astral projections, out of body experience, sleep paralysis or lucid dreams.
last night, I was led in dream world to an attic where a group of red hooded beings arranged in a circle were doing enchantments. I tried getting away, but the magnetic force started making my body levitate. A few hail Mary's and it was over. Free. Yes, I wear the brown scapular and daily rosary, so I took it as a sign to pray in the middle of the night rosary and chaplet for whomever might be spiritually attacked that night

I love Wayne Dwyer, Deepak and Abraham Hicks! They all resonate with me. When I started reading the new age materials, I saw so many synchronicities and felt that my life opened up and abundance rained down. It felt positive and I felt no guilt. I wrote my gratitude list and thanked the Universe for what I had, and within ten years, I accomplished so much (personally and professionally). In the New Age teachings, there is no "punishment and guilt," only gratitude and love and alignment. I manifested becoming a physician, completing residency, manifested my most beautiful and perfect partner, manifested optimal health, wonderful friendships and travel! There were no "demons" like this guy is talking about. From time to time I still tap into that feeling of divinity through meditation and being in nature. Now that I'm becoming Catholic (marrying into a Catholic family), I feel so disconnected from my spirituality. I don't feel that sense of magic or connectedness in the church that I felt when I was exploring The Secret. I'm not sure what to do.

    • @sarahlawrence1451
      @sarahlawrence1451 Рік тому +8

Hi Prickly pear, thanks for your honesty in writing. I can relate to some of what you wrote, having gone down the New Age rabbit hole a bit myself. The point though is to question what is the ultimate truth?
If Jesus is true and the only way to God then other ways are a deception with eternal consequences. I went back to Christianity not because it was easy or felt good but because I'd become convinced that it was the truth through God leading me. Yes you can have a lot of good alternative spiritual experiences outside of the Christian faith but consider the end point of it all. I thought the things I was involved in were harmless and naturally based (not involving demons/demonic powers) but as I got further into it I began to see things differently. I didn't really realise how low I'd gotten actually, having been strung along by short lived spiritual highs. It became something of an addiction to keep going after the next spiritual encounter. Things that promised so much fell flat in the long term and were actually deceptive. I do believe in evil spirits from my encounters. Thing is they are good at hiding and can often make you feel like it's you who's got the power when it isn't really.
God helped me to see that and that Jesus is the truth. So now that I am following Christ, I don't have the immediate feelings that often came with the New Age things. But I have been convinced that it is true and I have contentment in that purpose.
The goal of this life is to prepare for the next one so I am ok with some suffering in the here and now if that's God's plan for me. You can have it all going your way in this life and get to the end to find it was all a trick. Or it can be the other way- suffer in this life and be rewarded in the next. As Jesus says "the first shall be last and the last shall be first."
I understand that what I have shared is my own story and experiences. I'd encourage you though if you really want to know the truth to pray to Jesus to guide you. Don't settle for religiousity or the Catholic church necessarily as these are often rules and rituals based rather than hearing from God. Read the Bible and let God lead you. You may connect more with a Pentecostal or Charismatic church (there are even Catholic Charismatic churches) as these are often closer to the New Age experience. It can take a while to find your feet when you switch from one form or spirituality to another but please don't give up. What matters most is not your feelings but if it's true, and how what you do is affecting you eternally 🕊️🙏

Seems the bulk of these of yoga/newage all pantheism is demonic type content is just a cultural push for 2024's burgeoning Christian Renaissance or whatever movement is due to to arise in response to the last 4 years. I obviously can't prove it, but it seems reactionary to me i dire economic and social times, with UA-cam as the platform for recruitment. They all roughly follow a similar testimony. I was lost but now I'm found. No matter what your sit, usually some chaotic like drugs or newage or something else masking a lack of direction and or impulse control, the solution is always the straight and narrow. Gotta commend them for at least modernizing with the times and being creative with using Chad memes to recruit people, especially the Orthodox.
I'm not Christian myself though ethnically belong to a monotheistic faith which I've never practiced due to my family's religion. Something in me held on to it implicitly. I think Abrahamic traditions for all their flaws value reason and have some cohesive theology or maybe that's just due to them being in the west and newage being some amalgamation of traditions divorced from their roots.
Sorry for the rant, I hope you find your way.

@@grespinosa It is a very long story however it started out with Gabe first inspiring me to pray the rosary then pray the entire rosary (all 4 mysteries).. After that the rosary became my go to for when people asked for prayer I ended up praying 12 a day for all the prayers I promised people. It was hard but thanks to my Mother I kept with it and built upon that foundation. I would finish the rosaries I intended to pray that day and still have more time left in my day so I would add another set of mysteries. I know I pray more than 48 in a day though because I fall asleep with a rosary in my hand and when I wake up I find that I had been praying it in my sleep, but I don't know how many I would have prayed or if I had just started praying it. In essence I just kept with it and stubbornly refused to abandon it, clinging to her as my life depended on it.
