How do you feel about I Shot Andy Warhol? How do you feel it compares to Mary Harron's other films? Which other films do you think are effective in humanising the controversial? Which films would you suggest to those who enjoyed I Shot Andy Warhol? Thanks for watching!
Like other commenting, this film has been on my radar for a while but I have yet to have the opportunity to watch it. A shame, since this video presents a compelling case for it to be much more widely available.
I do hope it gets a wider release one day, I'd love to grab this on blu-ray, and Mary Harron does seem to be putting a lot of effort in trying to retrieve the film rights. I think the best chance to currently see this film is on UA-cam, which is a shame because the image quality isn't great for that version 😓
I've heard of the event before due to reading her scorn manifesto but didn't know there was a biographical movie. This is a fascinating look, thanks for bringing attention to it! It almost reads like a portrait of the extremities of second wave feminism as a whole.
It is, but due to the loss of distribution rights, it can't be accessed physically outside of pre-owned copies, and it won't be appearing on streaming or television - i.e. the means in which the filmmakers will receive royalties for their work.
I was lucky enough to see this film on release and loved it. It's interesting the availability of these and other films. I research Canadian cinema and it's interesting how many Canadian films are lost for the exact same reason. Small distributors or co-productions and lord knows who has the rights to put them out there. Some were critically well received and have well known actors and the only way you can see them today is if someone puts an old rip up on here or Vimeo and it isn't taken down. I have books on specific films that are completely unavailable.

Lili was perfect. I crossed paths with her one time in Greenwich Village and told her how much I respected her work. She was very gracious.
I want to see this. Set it free!
