- I play a Magic: the Gathering Online Legacy league with a UB Synthesizer decklist with a core similar to an 8 Cast or Affinity deck. Simulacrum Synthesizer is a powerful engine, and Refurbished Familiar combined with Esperzoa gives you a way to draw cards or make your opponents discard cards each turn while also making Urza's Saga construct tokens. The addition of Modern Horizons 3 (MH3) to the format also allows us to playing Vexing Bauble as protection.

Phil, you always look so cozy with your blanket and it's adorable.
I almost feel like one or two of those Synthesizers or Thought Monitors should've been swapped with Kappa Cannoneers. There were quite a few situations where Cannoneer could have pushed through damage past your opponents blockers where the construct tokens just sat there staring menacingly at them.

Is the floor for Synthesizer low? Yes.
Can my Pioneer deck add 64 power across 6 creatures on turn 4? Yes. (turn 3 play Synth, turn 4 play Brass Knuckles, Metalwork Colossus, Metalwork Colossus)
The scoop usually comes right about when I equip the Brass Knuckles for double strike.
It is also pretty consistent with blue cantrips, blue counter spells and graveyard recursion with Colossus and Fabrication Foundry.

The idea behind using cards like Ottowara over basic lands is "in one game out of ten it might make a difference to have a bounce available, but usually this is a land."
Given how there's SO MUCH White Orchid Phantom/Nicfit/Ghost Quarters running around, isn't the tipping point reached, where it is better in most games to be able to search up a basic instead?
I mean you’d probably be mostly running island over Otawara for, like, wasteland/blood moon, instead of the possibility of fetching another land against random fringe archetypes?
(though I guess the other lands also all eat shit against wasteland)
It seems wild to me how many artifact hate cards you ran into. I have a hard time believing the meta warrants that much hate.

Hey Phil, let me tell you, ive been playing Standard format heavily for about a year now and in that format Synthsizer is just Disgusting. I hate it like poison😂. If you olay any kind of fair deck which 90% of standard is, that card just crushes fair decks. Ive even got so salty as to run four stone brains and rite of oblivions and just went simulacrum hunting! 😂 But anyway in Legacy you make a deck with a synth and a jellyfish look so fun to play!

@@andrewwang7699 haha everything eats shit to Boros convoke basically. But Boros convoke numbers are going way down, and some of the new synth decks especially in jeskai are playing temp lockdown and high noon main board for the mono red / Boros aggro strategies now. The last dozen or so matchups I've witnessed with jeskai synth vs Boros it wasn't even close. It's probably one of the reasons I'm running into more synth decks than I am Boros right now on arena and modo.

Splash red for experimental synthesizer to essentially draw 2 extra cards each turn which could also just be a body if needed?
A 1 mana draw a card with downside, with the option to pay 3 Mana for a 3/2 is leagues away from legacy power level.
I feel like if we are playing the familiars we should lean a bit more into discard with either grief or hymn maybe?
Playing artifact combo in eternal formats looks miserable. Rolling the dice that opponents decided it was ok to lose to this deck today.
