I have a tool that checks compression. If a cylinder is low you put some oil in the bore. If the compression increases you know you have a problem with your rings not sealing the bore, if no increase in compression is noted ya prolly have a sticking valve or leaking head gasket. I've never checked compression with a bread bag 😂
I use a pico amp clamp to see starter current to see the draw while overcoming compression. High to get rolling then the following crests of the waves should be consistent unless you have a lack of compression
@Daddimirr yes makes sense, you use what you have. Although you must reference that to your crank sensor or spark pulses. I doubt these guys have yhe equipment to do that, but here is a simple way to check if there is compression/vacuum with very basic tools. When a cylinder is down a simple finger in a spark plug hole can check for compresson in a similar manner. About as simple as you can get, but will easily identy a 0 or very low cylinder or stuck valve.
It’s not a compression test. You can’t check compression without a head on it. To many variables to test without a head since it holds the valves and glow plug or spark plug. This is a suction test for the piston rings. People do this with paper all the time. Piston rings are clocked in certain positions. And if you measured wrong or didn’t resurface the bore correctly. This little test would indicate an issue before putting it back together.

To everyone brining up compression tests… THEY ARE ON THE DOWN STROKE CREATING VACUUM. Not compression. Like many others have mentioned this might be a good way to determine if rings are seated and sealing properly. But compression isn’t even remotely a factor without heads even being installed
you realize if the rings align they still cause suction... the piston displaces more volume than can squeeze through the ring gap over the same given time, there is suction...
@@CenterZero_DeadSecurity not to mention it has been proven time and time again that where the piston rings are when they're put together does not matter. Piston rings move around naturally during typical operations, they will align eventually, but the engine continues to run anyways. BECAUSE IT DOESNT MATTER. The Gap these piston rings have is like 0.02" on average. The air is not capable of blowing through that gap fast enough to fill the void at the same rate the pistons creates the void.
Rings rotate on a piston while the engine runs, otherwise they would score they cylinder. So no matter where you place the rings on the piston, at some point they will line up. But it just doesn't matter because the gap is less than 0.020". A 5 hp brigs with a die grinder taken to the cylinder wall would still pop plastic. This is just dumb waste of time
Given that all those pistons would have been well lubricated with oil before assembly therefore sealing the pistons better than at any other time you would expect good air pressure.
Its a demo for how this plastic works. You can see #2 piston has a hole blown in the top. So therfor they already know 2 is blown by looking at it. They are showing how it works for quick compresson test.
This is a simple test for suction. I use it for my rc airplane engine rebuilds and small engines. A engine is only a vacuum pump. This checks that the cylinder bore and piston/ring set is sized or repaired correctly to a point. No suction would indicate rings clocked wrong or bore issues. Or maybe incorrect measurements. Doesn’t mean when it gets compressed that air won’t blow past the rings. But quick safe of mind test for function before assembly. This may be how the QC in their country.
I love how everyone on here is an expert. If you can’t see that’s clearly a product they bought that clearly depicts the piston and the rings which is simply seeing if there’s a good seal. The compression test is likely after this. But there’s no point in even doing that if it can’t pass this basic test first.
