that Star Wars costume designer died. Some food for thought. Yes, everyone keeps repeating the line 'the Sith have been extinct for a millennia' but forget that Palpatine told Anakin about Darth Plageous the Wise, the Sith that taught Palpatine. So we know for sure 2 generations of Sith that the Jedi didn't know about (before they knew about Palpatine) when that statement was made. So I'm hoping this story, being 100 years before TPM, taps into that story. Also, talking about not really connecting with current Star Wars, this is nothing new. When the prequels were released, they were not well received...at all (complaints on bad acting, bad writing, wooden characters, over-reliance on CGI and casting to just name some complaints). In fact the 'purest' wanted the movies to be removed from cannon and forgotten. There was an entire campaign for it. It got so bad in fact, it was one of the reasons (of course not the only one) that Lucas retired and sold the IP to Disney. Because prior to doing the prequels, he had plans on also doing the sequels. He did give other reasons for selling and not doing the sequels (like the time it takes to make a trilogy [3 years per movie at the time of the interview] and his age). As with the costumes, the original lady that did it unfortunately passed away. Plus, it is 100 years prior, I mean clothing styles change and if they had it not change, that would be worse, imo. I didn't mind the costumes here or what they have been lately. But that of course if just my opinion. Ultimately, my guess is that in another 20 years, those who are growing up with this generation of Star Wars will love it and not like anything new coming out (if there are new titles being released in 20 years) and the cycle will continue. When you have a long running IP like this, change is inevitable. New stories are inevitable. Some will hit, some will miss. Just can't keep telling the same stories with the same characters over and over again. And as a side note, I am not trying to invalidate/change your opinions/feelings on the latest Star Wars IP. You are 100% correct. This is a long running IP and changes are bound to happen, good and bad. I'm betting too, that in twenty years kids today will look back on these series and think they're some of the best of the SW universe. It'll be a repeating cycle.
I get the critiques, but I was happy with the gold Jedi robes. They very closely matched the High Republic Era Jedi outfits IMO. Hesitant with this show, but I don't dislike it so far. Excited to see how it goes.

It was resolved in seconds. It's nice to have that subversion. I'm sure there's exceptions, but people seem to act...reasonably intelligent in this show. They communicate to avoid confusion. It's awesome.
Yeah, I just wish they didn't also rush past things that should be central to the emotional conflict of the story. They compared it to frozen, I've seen it compared to Arcane, both of those stories wisely established the characters and the 'why' behind their conflict before doing the whole painful reunion and intrigue. This one skips all the moments that would help us feel invested, so now the central conflict is just a "what's the bad guy's name" mystery, and that's not very interesting

Your spot on about the modern day dialogue and protagonist showing a sense of humour, it does diminish their threat! And what is with that Arch that is appearing in all Star Wars projects now?
Not at peak Powah, but surely way more agile & focused than during Original Trilogy 🙂 In beautiful Prequel Trilogy he was el fine ^^ The Acolyte looks beautiful Live Act Star Wars content so far. 🙂 I love it's aesthetics, soundtrack & more 😋 I'll restream S01E02 late this evening & then to wait and hope to see Kelnacca fight well & escape to Coruscant 🙂
Unfortunately they already said there will be no cameos in this show, even though Yoda would be around this time and is the perfect time to have him pop up. I literally can't think of a reason as to why they wouldn't have him show up, it's so dumb.
@@thinkbeyond3457 Yeah I do agree to a degree, but out of any cameo they could make Yoda would make the most sense and I'm very intrigued to see how he would be around this era of the jedi.
Its murder mystery detective i find it works for the Jedi being detective because of how it shows Anakin and obi wan being detective types in clone wars movie
This was such a dull reaction. I'm surprised you were able to give a review since you talked over most of it. Also, it's 100 years before Ep1, of course things will be different. 100 years ago in our own history was vastly different, including fashion. You're so negative before anything even happens it's irritating to watch.
I take and or value certain people when it comes to their Star Wars opinions... SKYMAN is one of those at the top of the list... The opening of this video was so well said. Good job sir.
100 before, but also the height of Jedi Hubris and Opulence. Beginning of the end for the Republic. That's why they up-classsed Jedi outfits at the beginning work for me 🤷
I believe the Jedi robes during the high republic is more like, the Jedi have class A, class B, and training uniforms. And since is is either 116 or 136 BBY this the end of the High Republic Era. So some changes are goin to occur.
It is very easy to get caught up the maelstrom of hate surrounding Disney SW and personally I agree with a great deal of it. However, the High Republic is a really interesting time to explore and the majority of the books are great. I can understand that change isn't easy with the robes and changes in mannerisms but like Andor I wouldn't dismiss it off hand. That said do I think this show is the best the High Republic has to offer.....
Episode 1 is my favorite movie ever as well :) so this one is kind of important to me. Can I be honest, I know some of those Interviews didn't show us much promise about the actors knowledge for star wars but from Episode 1-2 it seems Headland has directed those actors to be fitting for a SW series.. She has done pretty damn good so far and its a solid start to what is coming.. I think we've only met an assassin with Mae.. The Apprentice (Abeloth mask) is above her, trying to overthrow the true master! the real sith we've not even seen yet.. From how fast these episodes were, clearly seems a lot is coming our way. Most of the trailer footage has been shown to! all in all I love this show so far and can't wait till this week
I did enjoy the episode. I liked the production. Didn't think about the music aspect. Now i hope SW always stays this or gets better production wise because it is better than boba!We can critique it all day but im hoping that it gets better. The optimism in me anyways. Lets see what KK and Hedley have in store?
I didn’t like the weird trader dude actor with mae, but idk I hope it’s a good series, I like it more then I thought I would so far, most of the actors are good so far
I fully agree with you being that I'm an even longer fan I grew up with the OG Star wars movies watching this is definitely too updated to the times now and also no idea what the point is for the show. I'm still going to check out the remaining episodes and try to keep an open mind about it hoping that this new storyline and new characters show something interesting. Plus being a Matrix fan and seeing Carrie-Anne pretty much die almost immediately Super lame for real!
It's really fascinating to see Prequel fans hate new Disney Star Wars like how the Original Trilogy fans hated the Prequels. Now you know how we feel. To be honest, some of us OG fans saw this coming when Ewoks were introduced. Even as a kid I hated Ewoks but George felt that was what we would like, he was wrong and now Disney is wrong. EA was on the right track with The Old Republic Cinematics but I wanted to see more good guys winning.
I grew up with the prequels and can say there are a fckload of parts in the og trilogy that are outright boring and a snooze fest. The og trilogy is not peak star wars neither was it perfect.
@@orangemochacino6420 I find none of it boring. Just not a fan of any cute thing George threw in for the kids. Other than that, they are perfect. Unmatched to this day. Only Lord of the Rings takes me to another world like Star Wars. Just great stories. Game of Thrones the early seasons and Lost the TV show does it for me. But back to topic. Content today is too violent and doesn't hit as hard as really good films that pulled you in for a few hours. The experience in the theater is scary to me these days. But if you enjoy the newer Star Wars, enjoy it. Don't let anyone tell you what you should like.Don't let UA-cam grifters with agendas ruin your experience.
I love the characters sol and the Jedi that knows how to float and metatate i love there stories the mostly because of how it shows how the Jedi could have failed my guess is the Jedi covered all this up and that is why they couldn't tell the sith returnd therefore you get ki adi mundi reaction 😅🎉
I enjoyed these 2 episodes. Good story and characters well played. I’m not disappointed at all. It’s another era, another habits and behaviors. Very good music. All is not perfect but, nice to watch for me. Thanks for your opinion though.
“Why don’t I feel anything?” Familiarity? People always get excited with they see a familiar and loved character, but we’re in a timeline with completely new characters, so obviously some people feel nothing at all. I’m all for it tho, I love new characters, and I’m enjoying the show so far.
They are not Sith. That's how they get around i. Just dark Jedi. Dark Jedi crossed blades with the Jedi before the Phantom Menace in legends as well. Qui gon and Obi Wan fought Qui gon's old apprentice tuned dark Jedi. He wielded a red lightsaber as well.
Master Sol is the heart of the show. Indara had presence. Yord is intriguing. That's it though...feels like actors on a set, not people in a world. Hope it gets better.
Yoda wasn't working for Jedi Council for hundreds of years. Yeah i hope we get even a similar cameo as Chopper had in Rogue One 🙂 Can't wait to stream Episode 3 via D+ & keep fingers crossed for Kelnacca's survival. Darn for Mirialan Jedi Master because she told Master Sol to return with Jecki & Jord 😬 Enjoy stream time at D+ & share el good word 🙂
you are such fricking whinnies, skyman and all the other commenters here. The robe is not exactly as in every other movies (it's a whole century before the prequels like no shit the fashion changes and some things should not look exactly the same as the material and the colors of the robes, if you could revive people that leaved in the 1920 it would tottaly be expected to look and dress and carry themselves way more deferently than what we do now), when they use the force they don't play the force theme like of course at some point the soundtrack should be exoanded. I don't like anything other than the same fricking soiundtrack that the first 6 movies had, whatever deviates a little from my version of star wars is not star wars, boo hoo, womp womp, grow up you fricking losers, you are like a chicks that whenever something isn't panning out exactly as they want to, they will just kill the vibe and complain, complain complain about every minute fricking thing that didn't go exactly their way. Thus far this show has a more rich and mysterious plot than any other star wars show that we have ever gotten, including the movies, if it goes to absolute dogshite in the next episodes then I have no quarrel with you complaining about it when they air, but thus far it looks pretty promising, it's nice to have a star wars show where not everything about the plot of the show is know from the very first episode and many things are totally unknown, like if you hadn't read any leaks or anything, would you have known about the whole twin sister thing or does that acolyte Mae killed her family or the other 4 jedi are hiding the truth from her sister or the fact that we got so many different sets, sceneries and planets in only two episodes or some other creatures other than a trandoshian and the greedo species guys?? You are just biased af on not letting yourself enjoy this without any valid reason, just because kathleen kennedy produced this and gave it a significant budget to work with. Why can you not have the same level of charitability that the mandalorian had or any other star wars show had? And it's a fucking shame cause I have been watching all your star wars reactions for I don't even know how long, like mandalorian season 1 or clone wars season 7 finale, I don't remember which one I saw first and I have not seen you ever be this close minded and have this much prejudice against a show other than maybe boba fett which thus far was significantly more low quality than this show. I want to make this point very clear, I am not defending the future episodes of this show oe the whole show from the get go, all I am saying is that the level of disengament and close mindness that you have shown should really make you question if you are truly a star wars fan or a fanboy of the anikin skywalker darth vader saga and nothing else, cause if you were a star wars fan then you wouldn't care if the jedi are all unkown to you and new characters, you would be like "oh shite I am interested in learning more about them and see their stories if they are compelling enough". That's all I had to say peace out...
Why put a family revenge story in it? I would love to see what the high republic really is about. And then some Sith rising slowly, emerging from the dust of time. Not a revenge story to kill 4 Jedi because of something they had done in the past. It’s early in the show, and perhaps there’s something waiting for us. Something how the Sith survived and how they plan to return. (Ok, we now that in the end they will return somehow…)
Ki-Adi-Mundi represented everything wrong with the Jedi at the time. “The sith have been extinct for a millennia.” Wasn’t true. Even palpatine told Yoda his arrogance blinded him
Should've gave us the first 3 episodes or just all of them at once. There isn't any character that has me invested in the first two episodes. Maybe just Sol. Not even Osha or Mae and it could be cause Sol has had a decent amount of screen time.
The desperate nostalgia for the prequels people have whilst talking about poor dialogue and shows being too “modern and political” is laughable. The prequels have some of the clunkiest and most poorly delivered dialogue in any star wars project to the point where they’re infamous for having some awful cringey lines. Star wars has also practically always been modern and political it’s just the mentally stunted man children who claim to be the true fans are too ignorant to understand the movies they praise so much for not being about modern politics were written with messages of the modern politics of their day but they were too young to understand then and too blinded by nostalgia to understand now. Star wars has been ruined by politics but not for the reasons people want to claim it’s been ruined by politics because people want to start culture wars all the time and are making the idea of non-white non-straight people a political thing instead of just being normal and not caring.
In terms of 'nothing to be excited about,' I think it was a mistake for them to jump in without letting us get to know the characters. We don't care when they die, we don't care about the sisters. It was compared to frozen and arcane, both of which made us care about the characters before introducing the major conflict. Should have done that here. Instead, we're meant to care about the mysteries "what's the bad guy's name" and "what did the jedi do," none of which are interesting with no context. Overall it Looks and sounds very cool, however the dialogue is too 'real' imo. I won't say anachronistic because it's not set in a period or anything, but it's written as though it could be a police procedural set in new york city and nothing would change except the costumes and the force. Lots of mcu-esque moments, which makes the characters seem more like people playing dress-up than people living in that universe.
Everyone seems to overlook how much the prequels were shit on by fans lol (especially Phantom Menace) It wasnt till recent history they suddenly became revered. Definitely a partial catalyst why George sold it.. Disney has def missed the mark on a lot, but really star wars fans hating star wars is nothing new. If you have a gripe that Star Wars is too political now, then youve never paid attention.. It always was..
I just got major Reva vibes from Mae. I hope Disney's plan for inclusivity does not boil down to 'Put an angry black woman in every show', because I really think there are better ways to go than that.
One huge problem with Reva is that she was played by somebody who did not have a lot of experience acting and imo was just horrible at playing that role, Mae's actress seems to have more range in her acting abilities and is better at expressing emotion
You’re all braver than me to go as far as to watch it. I won’t dare watch it because I can tell by the trailer it looked awful 😢. Skyman Universe well done though, I enjoy watching your videos you deserve better as a viewer.
Star Wars is in its soul a traditional Old fashion Western-Samurai fusion in terms of genre. You have to watch old 20th century samurai movies and westerns to understand how to write Star Wars as a genre piece, but Acolyte is instead firmly way too far in the modern drama genre that it has lost all thematic coherence. All the set pieces and aliens look good because that's material production, but actual spiritual/emotional/intellectual capital is lost because they want to be like other money making shows than to really dig into the genre and source material because I suspect writers are too insular and illiterate with their tastes to really pull together solid character development and story lines like the animated side of the house
Im enjoying it,people were talking shit about it for so long i feel like its become overwhelmed with negativity from the start.I went into it with an open mind.

@calzzo11 in a way I don't mind it, to fully separate it from the Skywalker saga. Star Wars does need some new ground to cover.
@@thinkbeyond3457 Yeah I do agree to a degree, but out of any cameo they could make Yoda would make the most sense and I'm very intrigued to see how he would be around this era of the jedi.
The Jedi covering up what happened on oshas planet makes sense to me because of there huborus
Yes. Look forward to rest of S01 via D+ & winding down at evenings with new episodes 🙂
I feel like I'm hearing my self every time you sigh in despair lol
This was 100 years before the first film
There was rumors that the master that she’s reporting to is actually the master of Palpatine
It's a show made for Disney Star Wars fans, not Star Wars fans.
It's mint for Starwars fans period. Just not for people. Like you
@DaG.O.A.T. So mint season 2 has been cancelled already. 👍🏻
💯
People like you are exactly what's wrong with Star Wars.
Don’t you mean it’s for Disney Star Wars fans, not Lucas Star Wars fans?
Was there any update on what you thought about the bad batch finale?
Its murder mystery detective i find it works for the Jedi being detective because of how it shows Anakin and obi wan being detective types in clone wars movie
Fred sounds wierd when you just found a channel when he doesn’t do the asmr voice. Im a star wars nerd tho so imma subscribe
That's why they up-classsed Jedi outfits at the beginning work for me 🤷
I want Fred to review whatever he is eating.
You can on his other channel.
I believe the Jedi robes during the high republic is more like, the Jedi have class A, class B, and training uniforms. And since is is either 116 or 136 BBY this the end of the High Republic Era. So some changes are goin to occur.
Skyman.I'm the same, nothing excited me .
I am feeling with you. To me it feels like turning Star Wars into a Soap Opera like California Clan, or Dallas. No fun .
You never finished the Bad Batch reactions...😢
Right!
Absolute shit. Disney drops the ball again
These shows remind me of the Ewok movies like Battle of Endor in the 80s or so
Have you watched LOGAN, the movie. The Padawan is X23.
I think her character is hilarious and her relationship ship with Sol
I did enjoy the episode. I liked the production. Didn't think about the music aspect. Now i hope SW always stays this or gets better production wise because it is better than boba!We can critique it all day but im hoping that it gets better. The optimism in me anyways. Lets see what KK and Hedley have in store?
The show is not for me. I will pass on this show.
Did we ever get Skyman’s Bad Batch finale reaction?
If what i seen about the reviews for episode 3 and so on then Disney has ruined star wars. They don't care about the fans! Its really disappointing
I didn’t like the weird trader dude actor with mae, but idk I hope it’s a good series, I like it more then I thought I would so far, most of the actors are good so far
💯% 🙂
I fully agree with you being that I'm an even longer fan I grew up with the OG Star wars movies watching this is definitely too updated to the times now and also no idea what the point is for the show. I'm still going to check out the remaining episodes and try to keep an open mind about it hoping that this new storyline and new characters show something interesting. Plus being a Matrix fan and seeing Carrie-Anne pretty much die almost immediately Super lame for real!
Extremely strong 5! (Out of 10😂). There is a decent foundation here, so let's see if they can ramp it up in the upcoming episodes. Fingers crossed.
I actually really like the yellow jedi robes
Are we going to see Chewbacca? He would be 100 Years old here.
I enjoyed these 2 episodes. Good story and characters well played. I’m not disappointed at all. It’s another era, another habits and behaviors. Very good music. All is not perfect but, nice to watch for me. Thanks for your opinion though.
wheres the bad batch final 2 episodes did you forget?? pls reply
Welcome back! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
“Why don’t I feel anything?”
Familiarity? People always get excited with they see a familiar and loved character, but we’re in a timeline with completely new characters, so obviously some people feel nothing at all. I’m all for it tho, I love new characters, and I’m enjoying the show so far.
It lacked as you said, the entire atmosphere of Star Wars.
Why didn’t you do the bad batch finale?
Just wait till next weeks episode... Star Wars dies next week.
That sucks you don’t like it bro. Guess I’ll be back when Ashoka comes out.
Master Sol is the heart of the show. Indara had presence. Yord is intriguing.
That's it though...feels like actors on a set, not people in a world.
Hope it gets better.
Are we going to see Yoda? He’d have been training Jedi for 700 years here
Yoda wasn't working for Jedi Council for hundreds of years.
(Ok, we now that in the end they will return somehow…)
what a fun and great start to the series
Flat pantomime cosplay. A non-event
Too early to choose
Yay or nay
High republic is a hard time to cover without lore
I would highly recommend that you watch the Squid Games if you get a chance. It’s fantastic.
To the powers that need to see this, "Bring back George Lucas... PLEASE! Save the SW universe!"
I just got major Reva vibes from Mae. I hope Disney's plan for inclusivity does not boil down to 'Put an angry black woman in every show', because I really think there are better ways to go than that.
No she’s a hundred times better than that calamity of a character that was Reva
So they are similar because they are both brown skin women who are angry about something? Is that all you got out of this?
One huge problem with Reva is that she was played by somebody who did not have a lot of experience acting and imo was just horrible at playing that role, Mae's actress seems to have more range in her acting abilities and is better at expressing emotion
you're tripping if you think mae is anything like reva
@@xg3kracist and mentally ill much?
You’re all braver than me to go as far as to watch it. I won’t dare watch it because I can tell by the trailer it looked awful 😢. Skyman Universe well done though, I enjoy watching your videos you deserve better as a viewer.
asmr cant save me from this pain of a show.
Star Wars needs fewer boring Jedi , and more Space Cowboys
I don't like how this show is focusing on martial arts so much. Jedi fighting is more like fencing with light sabers.
This guys lost me whining to much she was at the press conference because she was contractually obligated
I'm with you man, no magic at all.
The look on your face in the thumbnail says it all.
Im enjoying it,people were talking shit about it for so long i feel like its become overwhelmed with negativity from the start.I went into it with an open mind.
