I travelled on MAKOURIA between Vreed-en-Hoop and Georgetown with my Grandmother who lived on New Road. Enjoyed the visits to Stabroek and Bourda. Markets, especially at CHRISTMAS 🎄 times. The fragrance of the Apples 🍎is unprecedented.
We moved from Demerara to BERBICE in 1956 ( Port Mourant). Halcyon Days 😇

This brought back lots of memories for me. Im from Trinidad, had a trip to Guyana back in 2007. Went there to paly tassa drumming with my band. We went to Parika then to Le Guan island with the Barath. This was a hindu wedding, similar to what we have here in Trinidad. That was one of the best experiences of my life those memories will last a lifetime. Love Guyana.

Great memories, I lived with my grandparents in Louisana Leguan for about 3 years before we came to Canada in 1987. I went to school there, I was about 9 years old when we left. I would love to hear from anyone who lived there or went to school there around that time. My Grandparents have long passed away now. My grandfather use to have the nick name Baboo Rumshop , he was a blind man.

Beautiful island indeed Cap. My late grandpa *KAYUM* had farm land there. Enriched with Rice/Eddoes/plantains and endless fruit trees. The family would take trips throughout the year back then and we’d have a ball. Fishing/milking cows and picking all sorts of fruits. The way you did with that juicy Mango 😋. The best part of that island are the people. Always willing to help and extremely hospitable. 💯❤️🇬🇾❤️💯

I wasn't born in Guyana but I lived in Georgetown with my Granny, aunts, uncles and cousin when I was a kid in 1970's for 5 yrs. I have been back twice as an adult. The last time I visited in 2010 I took my 3yr old. I most definitely will visit again. Look forward to seeing more of Guyana when I visit again. I like your videos, they are very informative. Leguan looks cool. I remember eating Jamun. My Granny used to buy a lot of it and I would gorge myself on it. I was so jealous when you picked the mango off the tree and ate it.
Keep up the good work. Love from the rainy UK 🇬🇧 🙏🏿👍🏿😀

Great video.Amazing.Thanks to you Mr Persaud that I get to see Leguan and the Malali.I keep forgetting to mention in my comments in your other videos that my most favourite part of your videos is when you eat those fried banga with peppersauce and the way you taste and eat your delicious foods makes me hingry and tantalize my taste buds. Also the best of your videos that I really love and made me laugh and I find it so hilarious when you made flour bait and was fishing in Ms Lynch Hassa aquarium with your locally made fishing rod.I like your sense of humour in most of your videos and one of the best part as well I like it when you say how can life get better than this.I also greatly admire all the philanthropic work you and your team has been involved in so far.May god bless you all abundantly and reward you all tremendously with everything GREAT and Small life has to offer with all the acts of kindnesses is truly a great blessing as I have been practicing philanthropy for many years of my life. It's truly a blessing to be compassionate and empathetic.God loves the doers of good and the kind hearted people.Keep up the good work my Guyanese brother.I'm so proud of yoh and your team watching your videos and seeing all the good that you're doing.May the peace and blessings of god be with you and your beautiful family always and may god bless you with a long healthy life full of happiness prosperity great great successes and may everyone you meet be kind and true as you continue to journey through life.I think you're the happiest man on EARTH 🌎 as long as you have your fry banga with peppersauce and your XM and all your fresh foods.lol.

That would be interesting to know. How prone are these islands to flooding? I guess more Guyanese will considered having a home in these islands - really cool.

I worked at Leguan for a year.At that time there was no electricity nor telephone services. Some places had pure water supply. They had a few rich guys with pubs and gas station and rice mills They owned generators which supplied them with lights. The hospital had no electricity. Imagine delivering babies and tending to very sick people without lights. It was like ancient times that we read of.Lot of young people drank alcohol and fight , chopping up one another. Many young people drank poison .Many died..Most of the people were very poor but rich at heart.Always wanted to give you things like fruits and vegetables. They never wanted payment for them even though they were poor. You had to go to Parika to buy fish or chicken.I went twice to the "back part" and three times to Louisiana. From the stelling
I travelled with the dray cart unless someone gave me a ride in their car.(the better off guys")They had no minibuses .The people from the" back part" used the big old time blue bus..(Not the Tata buses)this was privately owned.
Wish you had gone by the hospital.I long to see what has been done there.
Next time you go there please do a trip to the hospital.
I missed Georgetown when I was there and was anxious to leave but the people were friendly.
