    You're probably the best taster I've seen on UA-cam. Others can accurately guess the wine, but aren't as good as communicating each part. You paint an accurate, detailed picture of all the wines you taste and are great at explaining your thought process. I, for one, love this kind of content and wish to see more for what it's worth!

    I live in Los Angeles and for the last three years Santa Ynez Valley has been my vacation spot. I love Brander Syrah. VERY aromatic and rich. So many great wineries to explore. In the years I've been going up there I been to over 40 tasting rooms. With over 120 tasting rooms I am just starting up. Looking forward to more trips. Thanks for the great education you are giving us Vince. Cheers

    I thought it was Malbec in the beginning but as you said the pepper was the main pointer between them two. Good job!!

      Yes, the "blue fruit" wines can get tricky, but there's usually some giveaways in there if you know where to look!

    As you were talking about blue fruit and pepper, I just kept thinking a southern Rhone Syrah-based Côtes du Rhône. I can't say I have had a ton of Santa Barbara Syrah. Great job!

    Loved it, really fun to watch. You make it all look so easy. You must have tried so many wines from all over the world. Which wine is your favorite and from what region?

    • @visforvino
      @visforvino  Рік тому +1

      Oh man, that's such a tough question! I like almost any wine on the right occasion. But a few favorites are red Rioja (from Spain) and Cabernet Franc from Loire Valley and white Burgundy!

      @@visforvinoOh, yes! We love Rioja too 😊
      Would it be a mistake if I said Shiraz from Santa Barbara instead of Syrah?
      I know that it’s the same grape but why some producers call it Syrah and the others Shiraz? 🤔
      Thank you

    Funny, because it was so dark, as soon as you said pepper I thought of Santa Barbara Syrah. Probably because most of the wine we drink is from there it's just what my brain defaults to.

    As soon as you say pepper, blue fruit, and fruit dominant rather than earthy, it seems like it has to be a New World syrah, yeah.

    I'm a BIG fan of Santa Barbara, specifically Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Ballard, etc. but I find most of those Syrah's over-extracted, over-fruity, and too much new oak. We've been to Epiphany, Evan's Ranch, Stolpman, etc. and all tend to be too fruity and too much new oak. Do you have recommendations for something similar to N. Rhone Syrah but without tons of new oak?

    • @visforvino

    Nose: Hmm Pepper, blueberry, could be Pinot Noir , though that pepper makes me think Syrah but I dont think its that for some reason. Let me continue watching. :)
    Hmm Now I might be thinking its an oaked cabernet with those tannins but I don't think cabernet has that high amount of acidity. Nebbiolo does but the color I dont think goes. Well now you said it isnt too oaked. So I need to think. I don't think its Gamay as you said. And i see you just said that too so yay.
    Umm I want to say Syrah but I don't haha I want to call Malbec but I feel I am wrong here.
    Ok video is paused. Final conclusion : New World. Malbec From Mendoza. I want to say 2022 vintage , price range around 32 Dollars. Ok lets see. haha
    Damn!!! I new I shoulda went with my gut!!!! haha

    How can we got it if we're not tasting It?

    • @visforvino
      @visforvino  Рік тому

      90% of blind tasting is actually taking theory and applying it. What a lot of people do while watching these videos is take the characteristics I provide (flavors, structure, acid levels, tannin levels, etc) and test their theory knowledge by trying to match my descriptors to a wine. Hope this helps!
