- Refugees predominantly from the DRC have been living outside the UNHCR offices in Pretoria. After their first eviction in 2019 they were returned to the same place. Now they face being evicted again.

I am a foreigner myself in SA but I comply with the laws of this country or any other country I happen to visit. And I also understand the plight of these refugees at the same time. However, they forget that SA has large numbers of its own citizens also living in the same squalid conditions in townships in Alexandria, Delft, Gugulethu etc and I am sure that any govt would rightly prioritize its own citizens. The burden is a bit too heavy for SA. I think other stable countries like Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana, Angola etc should take in a certain number of refugees and ease the load on SA. These refugees are humans like any one of us after all
I trust that you are a legal documented foreigner in SA. If all of them are like-minded as you, I am pretty sure that our SA'n people will not have a problem with you being here for a prescribed period of stay. Your fellow undocumented foreigner friends are the very reason why you are in the predicament of why our government are refusing the renewals of the ZEP. ZEP is of no relevance anymore, as your country has now war. I myself am a victim of Foreigner crime and he got away scott free as he had no identification and took no accountability and it constitutes as lawlessness. Other countries allow foreigners to work and stay for periods of time, and the correct procedures are followed. Today we have millions of Foreigners in SA, abusing our resources. Look at places like Hillbrow, Umlazi,, Bellville, Milnerton, Parow, and surrounding areas, etc to name the least, it horrendous!!!! We, SA'ns are Tax paying, law abiding citizens fearing for our lives everyday because of the over amount of countless undocumented foreigners in our cities. They do not have jobs hence the increased amounts of drug dealings and selling. They act like gangsters as they feel they above the law! If your ZEP, or permit expires please go home as the law stipulates so that you are not considered illegal and a criminal. This is not Xenophobia this is SA Law and regulations.
Sensible response thanks, but it's not a bit, it's extremely too heavy for SA government. It's high time other countries take this burden from SA and be responsible, share these migrants and refugees among themselves, and let SA government work and do what they didn't do for SA citizens all these 29 years of our democracy. People who suffer the most in SA, are SAns. People must really consider to go to their homelands and let us be for love of goodness. Qha qwaba. We're no longer a nation it's a mixed up of something you can't even explain what, in SA and it's sadness.

Kids were brutally killed. People of South Africa die every day , so this country isn't happy for everyone. Sadness all around. This is a terrible thing to see and I'm sure a horrifying situation to endure.
I know that it isn't politically acceptable to express concern for the "host" country but I believe that South Africans have enough to deal with and cannot simply support more refugees.
It's a well researched and known fact that the majority of today's "refugees" do not qualify asylum as they are seeking "a better life"
Completely understandable yet they must learn that one cannot just show up, pitch a tent and start making demands.
Unfortunately nearly every country is struggling to care for their own citizens and the hard working, law abiding tax payers in most countries have already been required to work much more for much less... Many people are finding it impossible to support themselves and their own children...

No one should expect or demand to be treated better than the actual citizens of the host country and all refugees should understand the language, the culture and the laws of any country that they wish to enter rather than making ridiculous demands.

No less than three babies per mother. Sitting our SA clinics full. Who is paying for this?! Hence our schools being overcrowded and our SA children not getting place at schools. They don't want to pay school fees, they sit ques on end for school grants / subsidies for free schooling. They cannot be blacklisted for non payment as they are not documented and not listed on the Credit Bureaus. This all in all is messed up and constitutes a lawless South Africa

Usually you apply for asylum when you are outside the country, unless there is a refugee camp. So if they are coming from Congo, the nearest country would be Angola, Zambia, Malawi. They are outside UNHCR offices and even the UNCHR wants to evict them from there. I thought UNCHR would take them to other countries that has capacity for asylum seekers.
