    Any chance of showing the button pressed please, can you just add them in the corner like you did at 3.18 min into the vid!

    Very informative....and much better than reading the typical Aprilia Owner's Manual.

    nice review of the features but agreed it would be way more informative if you showed which buttons were being depressed. thanks to comments, I learned the starter button mode change. :) love my Tuono!

    Strange how the power modes make so much sense on this model yet my Factory 1100 must've been lost in translation as it goes like this; SPORT - Road full power max engine braking and softer throttle response, TRACK - Fast road, less engine braking and still for power, RACE - Fast Road or Track, even less engine braking than TRACK. Surely it should say R for Rain, S for Sport/Fast Road and T for Track meaning track! Good ol' Italians!

    The official Aprilia explanation for the ride modes are [R]oad, [S]port, [T]rack. Track mode being the unrestricted map.

    • @killerracernos

      These defined letters are different in later models, in this generation of Aprilia. R=Rain, S=Sport and T=Track.

    Somebody PLEASE explain what the differences with AWC and ALC 1-3 are.

    • @arthurcoldwells1326
      @arthurcoldwells1326 8 років тому +3

      +9enius AWC is wheelie control. There are three levels of intrusion (with 3 being max intrusion) and essentially when the system detects the front wheel lifting, it mitigates the power so the front comes down again. The system can be fooled with aggressive throttle input, but the front comes up quickly and then comes down just as quickly too making for a pretty gnarly ride. If you're a skilled rider and comfortable with wheelies, then try Level 1 or even switching it off. The idea is to be able to ride hard and float the front wheel without it ever getting too high; you've seen the racers do it all the time.
      I personally don't see the point of dedicated WC as the traction control has the same effect--as the front comes up, the system detects that the front wheel starts to rotate slower than the rear, and mitigates the power. If TC is calibrated properly the system works well, but again can be fooled momentarily with an aggressive right hand.
      ALC is launch control. This is where you can hold the throttle wide open but the revs are held at the optimum level for a fast take-off (I forget the actual number) so not at the redline/rev limiter. So you then modulate the clutch as usual for a clean/best getaway, and the launch control then switches off once you're underway. Truly useless on the street, but great for racing.
      Hope this helps. ~AC

    • @zissou6928
      @zissou6928 8 років тому

      +Arthur Coldwells Thank you so much. I believe with LC, tc and something else is also momentarily disengaged. Also, the bike has an option for real-time calibration. Do you know anything about that?

    • @arthurcoldwells1326
      @arthurcoldwells1326 8 років тому +1

      +9enius I believe you're right about the other control items being disengaged while using LC.
      The calibration system is awesome, pure and simple. Essentially TC has to be accurately calibrated because the algorithms take into account different tire specs--especially the tire's profile which varies from make to make, even if on the surface they are the same size.
      So manufacturers calibrate their TC systems to work with the OEM tires... trouble is, if you then decide to switch brands and fit (for instance) Q3s or Super Corsas ...your TC goes out of calibration. That's not to say it stops working entirely, but it's not quite as accurate.
      However, with the Aprilia electronics you can go into recalibrate mode, ride the bike for 3 miles or so (I think it is) and the system then 'learns' the new sizes and profiles of your tires as fitted, and tweaks the algorithms to suit--making the TC much more effective. Cool eh?
      Kudos to Aprilia for essentially taking their enormously expensive state-of-art WSBK electronics suite and fitting it to their production bikes--undiluted. This is big $$ racing software ...fitted to showroom bikes for less than 20 grand! Niiiiice.
      Cheers ~AC

    • @arthurcoldwells1326
      @arthurcoldwells1326 7 років тому +1

      Well yes, that would make sense, of course. This video is now a few years old and things change, so I'm not sure what the latest models use and if Aprilia changed, but on this model it was 'T' for track mode and 'R' for road... When I first rode the bike I assumed they stood for 'Race' and 'Touring', so I was surprised when I felt it was the other way round LOL. Wouldn't it be nice if all the manufacturers used the same consistent designations and stuck to them?
