  • Artificial intelligence is used for everything from self-driving cars to finding elementary particles, and finding out that prematurely born babies are better off if their mother smoked. Wait, what? While being the most exciting new technology and a means of improving our lives, artificial intelligence can also be used for bad - intentionally or not. This talk will both inspire and frighten you, but most importantly give you food for thought on your AI braided future. Artificial intelligence (AI) is often powered by machine learning, meaning machines which have learned to solve tasks by themselves. Such artificial intelligent systems can be used for good, for bad or just recklessly, but either way it is up to us how it will affect the future of our species. During her doctoral research in particle physics, she was inspired by the power of machine learning, and at the same time cautioned by its subtleties. When entering the TEDxArendal stage, she will take you on her personal journey from said research, to working full time focusing on the responsible use of AI in society. She will share with you her motivations from the very beginning, and give thought-provoking examples highlighting the challenges and possibilities AI can give us in the near future. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Do you have a reference for the smoking study (in the very beginning of the video)?

Stephen Hawking said technology will be our downfall you can never get away from human ingenuity Elon musk he's got lawsuits against the self-driving cars I like the hadron accelerator the self-driving tractor trailers on California for UPS I question that
