Painting with watercolours on canvas is brilliant fun. You are no longer restricted by size, the need to frame, hiding your painting behind glass... but it does have some challenges.
In this new comprehensive online course, I will take you from the very beginning (why paint on canvas and how is it possible), through to sealing and protecting your final painting. Along the way, we will explore preparing our own canvas, how to make watercolour ground, creating the illusion of texture, layering, getting tones right first time, ink and wash and all sorts of other things.

How do you seal your watercolor painting that you’ve done on canvas utilizing watercolor ground?
You have a few options. Spray matte varnish (hopefully with uv protection) or cold wax medium such as Dorland’s.

Have you ever used watercolour ground directly on to cradled plywood blocks?
Yes, many times. The same strengths and weaknesses of canvas, without the bounce!
