Hello, thanks for the informative video. I have Episodic Ataxia type 2 since I was about 12 (although it was only diagnosed when I was 30). I noticed that I have the attacks more frequent over time, and now I have an attack once every two days or something (more if I play sports). I'm a bit nervous about your statement that these episodic attacks can become chronic. What are the changes that I develop chronic Ataxia? Is that common?
I have sca27b. My symptoms that I have all the time which started when I was 57 are balance, double vision, gait problems , moving eyes, slurred speech, stiff legs. I find it interesting that Kcna 1 gene is a special voltage gated potassium . I take dalfampridine (ms drug) every 12 hours which is a potassium channel blocker that allows me to function with a normal gait, better balance, no eye movement, no slurred speak,no stiff legs. It is a life changer. Physical therapy did not help me prior to taking the drug.
Very good information...I have Ataxia, suddenly I lost the left side of my hearing...but before that I lost the vision on my right eye...and right after I developed tinitus. And start to lose my balance...I think I developed all that because I spray paint steel structures. And the safety data sheets warn that I can develop vertigo...by the way in the twenty years I do that job I don't realize... nine of that years I was using the wrong breathing equipment. So I think is a occupational the cause of my Ataxia... Is that possible???

Read the material safety data sheet on the paints you were using. Talk to a doctor and a lawyer.
