@Jolie Bancroft okay, but they aren't remaking it. the action is being played in the same universe as we live in, they can watch the movie just like us. they are playing students of real school that high school musical was being filmed. the plot of the series isn't like the movie, because they are just doing a play as in a school theatre. and as i said in the first comment, zac efron didn't sing in the first movie at all. drew seeley did. the female main actor in the series is new to the music industry probably, so she have to practice. also she is and actor and not a singer so che doesn't have to sing very well on the stage. the important is that she can play the role they gave to her.

@Brent Orji, The song is sung in a muchlower key because Joshua Bassett doesn’t have a high vocal range. Olivia Rodrigo is vocally better and it’s a shame she has to sing at a lower key because he can’t match it if it’s any higher.
